The Swedish nujazz project Koop, best known for their full-length "Waltz for Koop" (released on Compost in 2001 and on Quango in 2002), will be performing as a live band on Saturday, November 3 at the 9:30 Club.
Doors open at 11 p.m. and tickets are $20; I'll be the opening act.
For their live shows, the two guys in Koop -- Magnus Zingmark and Oscar Simonsson -- are joined by an additional 5-7 people to form a "swing orchestra." And apparently Magnus and Oscar wear dresses.
Their most recent album, "Koop Islands," got a U.S. release this year on Atlantic.

You can pretty much camp out at the 9:30 Club tonight for nearly 8 hours and gorge yourself on international future soul and jazzy downtempo soundscapes. Start out the evening with an early show with [Fertile Ground and Zap Mama]. Hmm... I know I'm on 11 to midnight; not sure what Koop's set time is.
Maybe try inquiring in the FAQ forum?

I was about to do that. If Koop go on at 12-12:30, it should give me plenty of time.
It most likely won't be much of an issue.

I am SO SO SO sad I am missing this...I've loved Koop since Waltz for Koop came out, and I've done my best to make many others love them as well. I'm in Atlantic City for the Police show (which I would have MISSED for this, had I known...but a bunch of folks are going to A.C. and I'm the 'link' among them).

Just for the record...this was a great show, the band played mostly songs from Koop Island and Waltz for Koop, the crowd was enjoying it from start to finish, and Christine's set was perfect for the night...Seth, please bring Koop to the Virgin Festival, it would be excellent for the dance tent...
