it's been a good 2 weeks to be a 'Burgher.

DAMN!!! Give it up for the best damn team in football! I got to go out and get that issue.

Makes up for my heart ache from last year.
They beat The Patriots and their weak winning streak, that's my season right there, now I don't have to hear about it when I go up north next month.

Do you mean being 6-10?
The big challenge is now going to be maintaining this level of play. And then finally 'sealing the deal'.
A couple of great articles:
The New Top Dog (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/writers/don_banks/11/07/banks.steelers/index.html)
"Strange as it sounds for a squad coming off consecutive wins over the NFL's last two unbeaten teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers just finished the easy part. Now things will get really tricky.
Humbling the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles in back-to-back weeks was a historic accomplishment, worthy of all the hype and acclaim the feat will bring. But with the twin deeds done and the giants slain, there's finally no one left standing in front the Steelers to block our view. All eyes are now on Pittsburgh, which in a flash just went from challenger to presumptive favorite as the 2004 NFL schedule reaches midseason.
Now we get to find out how the Steelers fare with a giant bull's-eye painted on their backs. Now it's Pittsburgh's turn to wear the target and let the rest of the league take its best shot. No matter what the calendar says, hunting season officially opened Sunday in this part of western Pennsylvania."
Steelers rank up there with great teams of the last 20 years (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/writers/peter_king/11/08/king.mmqb/index.html)
"PITTSBURGH -- As I sat in the back row of the Heinz Field press box on Sunday afternoon, watching the contest (and I use that word loosely) between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia I wondered: Since I've been covering football, how many teams have I seen that looked as unbeatable at one point during a season as the Steelers look right now?
I started on the NFL beat in 1984, so I have a two-decade window. I jotted down in the margin of my white legal pad as I kept play-by-play of Steelers 27, Eagles 3:
1. The '85 Bears.
2. The '89 49ers.
3. The '90 Bills. (They lost to the Giants in the Super Bowl, but that Buffalo team beat its first two playoff foes by about a million to 3. I thought there was no way on God's green earth the Giants would win that game after Buffalo stomped Oakland 51-3 in the AFC Championship Game.)
4. The Cowboys at two or three points from '92 to '95.
5. Maybe -- and I underscore maybe -- the 2000 Ravens, because playing against that defense late in the season made the game a hopeless cause unless the Baltimore offense turned it over a bunch."

Exactly, especially since at the beginning of the season they were AFC superbowl favorites. Then Maddox decided not to show up.

I got this kid in first grade that is nuts about the Steelers, and football in general. I've never seen him wear anything but football jerseys, both NFL and NCAA. And the great thing is, he is like Rain Man when it comes to knowing stuff. He must have like 30 different jerseys, and the other day he was donning a USC jersey. The PE teacher and I were asking him facts about the team, and he knew the quarterback, coach, and like three other position players. For every jersey he wears, he at least knows the above facts. But the Steelers are his favorite team, and it's funny as hell when he tries to pronounce the QB's name. He ends up spitting everywhere.

"Weak" winning streak? I guess that Superbowl victory didn't mean anything to you. I think 21 straight is a fucking impressive number. It just shows the lack of resoect NE gets, they lose one game and go from possible superbowl team to nobody's talking about them. Good, don't talk about them. When they kick your ass on the way to the superbowl it will be that much sweeter. Pittsburg is hot, but if teams can figure out how to run on them (and the Pats didn't have Dillon for that game, and Westbrook was anything but 100% this past week) they will fall.

Oh I don't diss the Patriots. I still consider them the best team out there. I was just blowing off steam cause most of my friends up north are Partiot fans and I hear about it when I go up there. This is just me getting a moral victory. The Patriots are the best team at adapting to other teams so I'm sure they'll see what went wrong and correct it. Starting with the four turnovers. But I am glad that we snapped the streak, so even when they do supposedly Kick Their Butts in the playoffs, at least the 1972 Dolphins will still be glad we showed up earlier in the year and they can always say they "ended the streak".
Oh yeah, the Steelers had big injuries also including the Pro Bowl Nose Tackle that woulda held Dillon from making those big yards he was supposedly gonna get if he had played.

I never thought the Pats were gonna go undefeated, thats just crazy talk. Virtually impossible in today's NFL. You're hot, that's for sure. Still very early, we can talk in a few weeks.

Or we can hit a sports bar if they play in the playoffs. Oh wait, the last time I saw the Steelers play at a sports bar, they were called for running into the kicker in the playoffs against Tennessee after that same kicker missed the kick. He of course made the next one. It was one of the greatest acting jobs of all time.....grrrrrrrrr

I thought the Steelers play at a stadium. Do they really play at a sports bar?

If I remember correctly, and I could be wrong, the playoffs are played in Sports Bars.

yeah, its been a good couple of weeks to be a stillrz fan. figured a split in those two games would be HUGE, never expected two wins.
while there are several nice steelers bars in the area, its all about having buddies with the dish. granted i have to go to manassas to watch games, but ah well

The buzz surrounding the Steelers will die down soon when they lose one which I'm scared to say will happen within the next two weeks. For some reason Cleveland and/or Cinci always takes one from us no matter how inept their teams are. And both aren't that horrible this year. But the Steelers will definitely bounce back soonafter and DEMOLISH the 'skins. The rest of schedule is cake with the exception of the Jets and maybe the Jags if Leftwich will be back from injury. And the Ravens aren't doin' shit in our house.
Btw, does anyone know if that SI is out yet? It wasn't at my local 711.
-
Quite honestly, I'd rather lose to either the Browns or Bengals than the Redskins, that will be plain embarrassing.

si comes to my house on thursday, like clockwork
