Word has it that the Atlantic City and Philadelphia dates have been rescheduled, but that Baltimore and New York City are set to be cancelled. Does anyone know if this is true, or is there going to be a date for Ram's Head announced soon?
-
Following successful shows in Boston and Norfolk Morrissey's US tour is back in full swing. With that in mind we are delighted to announce rescheduled dates for Philadelphia at The Mann Centre on the 23rd of July and Atlantic City at the Borgata on the 24th of July. It has not been possible to reschedule shows at New York's Madison Square Garden, Holmdel, New Jersey's PNC Arts Centre, Northampton, Mass's, Pines Theatre or Baltimore's Ram's Head as despite our best efforts those venues are not available during the remaining tour period. It is hoped that we will be able to add a US leg to the tour this fall and that we will be able to play all of the above cities. In the meantime anyone holding tickets to those 4 shows should obtain a refund at the point of purchase. The tour continues this week with shows in Knoxville,TN; Clearwater, FL; Boca Raton, FL and Orlando, FL.

Rams Head is DEAD, as is MSG. Of course those are both of the shows I had on this leg, I'm probably going to the Borgata on the 24th like Morrissey I'm booked til then.
-
this sucks! i cant even get tix to the borgata show and id even be able to get there (or id find a way). are they issuing out more tickets or does anyone know the deal? stupid MSG! maybe bloc party can open for morrissey :)
-
yeah, this really sucks. i had a ticket to wolf trap but had to emergency bartend, and i was all set to go to ram's head when it got canceled.
i'm going to try to go to philly or atlantic city. the borghata would be a trip.
-
i need someone to go with for the Philly date. Where is the Mann center?

I wouldn't mind that. Are you coming back that night or staying in Philly??? If you're coming back, I'm in for sure . . . .

It's near the zoo.

TheDirector: If I go, I'll let you know. Not definite yet at this point..but really need to see him again after that Wolftrap show!!
Definitely going back home though! (have to work the next day).

that really sucks about the emergency bartending, esp since he played that night. im still pissed that MSG is just a f'ing nightmare mess.
anyway if anyone hears anything about tix to the borgata, please let me know :) im not about to go broke trying to get moz tickets with the scalper prices.
-
yeah, the one area show he did play was the night i got called in. my consolation is that i had a really great monday night. i'm confident i'll be able to make mann or borghata.
-
ram's head couldn't confirm but i can conceive that it wouldn't be worth his while to play a small show in baltimore if he's skipping msg... with any luck i'm wrong.
-
Good thing I caught me at Wolftrap last week! The show was great!
-
This sucks.....this show was one of the only shows I actually got tickets to this year. (Buying a house kinda puts a damper on going to everything....)
sucks.
-
This blows. I was so excited to see him at a small venue. Here's hoping he comes back.
-
For what it's worth, of "big venues" the Borgata is still pretty cool, on the floor is not bad at all, I've seen quite of few shows there (Depeche Mode, Strokes, Aerosmith/Lenny Kravitz, True Colors, etc) and it's about as good a venue as any with a capacity over 4K. Just be sure to get GA and not riser tix.

ive tried and tried to get tix for this show from the borgata but am having no luck. are tix still available, because according to the site, they're not. i checked other shows hoping it was my browser, but could buy tix to other shows. the only good thing - since its official that moz has been cancelled - tickemaster refunded my msg tix which were quite a lot.
-
GA TIX FOR BORGATA ARE $75 plus fees by phone only 1-866-900-4849
shipping is $1.50 USPS, $18 UPS SECOND DAY

nevermind! Thanks!
-
Has this show been officially cancelled yet
-
according to the press release, yeah.
i'm surprised nothing is mentioned on the rams head website though.

i dont think its been cancelled yet. I asked about it on saturday and they havent given refunds yet so i am assuming they are still trying to reschedule.
-
Anyone get their money back for this show?
-
I got refunded on my credit card bill....ticketbastard takes out 3 dollars or so to "process" the refund
-

Bullshit! Are you serious?
-
yep yep
I got a message on the answering machine the other day from them talking about it, and the amount I got refunded was like 74 and something, when the tix plus service charge was 78
-
It's true...if you see a big show that gets cancelled and the service charge was about $8 (or a lot more in some cases), that's money that you'll never see again.
-
Now now, the service charges gets refunded. The $$ that you won't ever see again is the "processing fee", usually $4.10 nowadays.

Maybe that has changed...I could have sworn that I lost a bunch of $$ on a ticket for a particular event. But it's been at least 5 or 6 years. I think for a while they only had service charges, then they tacked on the "processing fee". No matter what, Ticketbastard sux.

went up to philly last night and it was well worth it. the mann center is actually pretty nice, reminds me of wolf trap in a way, definitely a nice outdoor venue. the band was tight and morrissey sounded great. my highlights were "the boy with the thorn in his die"/"let me kiss you"/"everyday is like sunday", "the queen is dead"/"first of the gang to die" intro, and "national front disco". "life is a pigsty" was pretty epic, too.
set-list
The Queen is Dead
First of the Gang to Die
You Have Killed Me
All You Need is Me
In The Future When All's Well
Whatever Happens, I Love You
The Boy With The Thorn in His Side
Let Me Kiss You
Everyday is like Sunday
I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris
Please Please Please Let Me Get What I want
Irish Blood, English Heart
National Front Disco
Disappointed
I Will See You In Far Off Places
I Just Want To See The Boy Happy
Girlfriend in a Coma

I love the fact that our resident promoter of avant experimental deconstuctionist noise rock traveled 150 miles to see the King of the Crooners.

Dude, that joke is so 14 hours old, though I'm flattered you try your new material out on me first.

damn impressive set list. id have really liked to hear last of the famous... well a few of the songs would have been really nice to hear. glad you enjoyed the show!

Both you and Booker T exhibited positive responses in my sample market test, thus I deemed the comment worthy of public dissemination.

i try to be as predictable as possible! i will always have a soft spot for old-school twee indie-pop (heavenly, field mice, sarah records, etc).

the aislers set are the best. man. saw them at galaxy hut back in 99 or 2000, saw them open for yo la tengo at the club a few years ago, they also did a mainstage show at the black cat a while back. they've been silent since "how i learned to write backwards" which came out in early 2003. supposedly new stuff is upcoming, we'll see...

well, i signed this little piece of paper called a lease. it sort of dictates when i'm supposed to move.
i love the aisler's set and have seen them about four times, last being the summer of 2003 at the black cat. actually, i think they opened for YLT in october 2003. IMO, they were the best indie-pop band of the 2000s.
do i lose my experimental guy cred yet?
-
Back to Morrissey - I think if you got your tix thru Rams Head they refund it all - including fees.
-
Totally agree. Totally miss them. I guess they stopped making albums when Amy (the singer) moved to NYC. They were my favorite Bay Area band (saw them 19 times, tied with Sleater-Kinney...yes I'm keeping a list..)

Music Review | Morrissey
A Singer of Suffering, Resurrected From Illness, Reaffirms His Mettle
By KELEFA SANNEH
PHILADELPHIA, July 23 ?? It should be no big deal, right? A singer announces that he is canceling some tour dates while he tries to recover from a viral infection. Fans respond reasonably: they shrug it off, wish him well and wait until next time.
But then, Morrissey isn??t just any singer: he has become one of the defining rock stars of the past few decades by virtue of his grand voice, his grander songs and his charming habit of playing with melodrama.
And suffice it to say that his fans ?? like the proud but self-pitying characters in his songs ?? aren??t exactly known for their reasonableness. After the cancellations were announced, Morrissey message boards were lit up with salvos from the disgruntled (some of whom claimed slow ticket sales were the real culprit) and the still-fairly-gruntled. One fan called Morrissey ??an unprofessional bore,? adding, ??It??s over between us.? A typically understated response: ??Instead of psychologically enhancing him, and trying to make him feel better, you sit here and utilize mind terrorism on him. Are you all Republicans??
Some of the concerts ?? including planned appearances at Madison Square Garden (June 30) and the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J. (July 6) ?? haven??t been rescheduled. But on Monday night, Morrissey came to the Mann Center here, for a concert that had been postponed from June 29. His normally smooth voice sounded a little froggy, but he seemed to be in a great (even goofy) mood, which more than made up for the occasional rasp.
??You show great spirit in the face of chronic adversity,? he said, by way of tribute to those who hadn??t forsaken him. And even the finickiest fan must admit that there is simply nothing un-fun about watching a 48-year-old man rip off his shirt while crooning, ??Then you open your eyes/And you see someone that you physically despise.?
Never mind what the ear, nose and throat specialist says: Morrissey, often lampooned as the most delicate of flowers, turns out to be sturdier than just about any of his contemporaries. His old band, the Smiths, was formed a quarter-century ago in Manchester, England, and though the group lasted only five years, Smiths songs remain staples of indie-rock playlists around the world. His eight solo albums haven??t all been equally successful, but they??re all worth hearing, and the best songs rank with any of the Smiths?? classics.
In short, he still drives his fans nuts, he still puts on a great show, and he still hasn??t become an oldies act. Back in the 1980s, who could have predicted that?
Monday??s concert included a handful of old favorites ?? ??The Boy With the Thorn in His Side,? ??Girlfriend in a Coma,? ??How Soon Is Now?? ?? all of which sounded as ambiguous, and as funny, as they ever did. (In chronicling his sad-sack heroes, Morrissey usually finds a way to hint at both sympathy and mockery.) In ??How Soon Is Now?,? soon after he sang, ??I am human and I need to be loved/Just like everybody else does,? a beefy guy rushed the stage, planted a kiss on his hero??s neck and was promptly tackled by security. (It??s a Morrissey concert tradition.) ??I am loved,? murmured the singer, unperturbed.
On his two most recent albums ?? ??You Are the Quarry,? from 2004, and ??Ringleader of the Tormentors,? from last year ?? he has embraced a brawny, heavy rock ??n?? roll sound. One guitarist added a swaggering hard-rock riff to ??I Will See You in Far-Off Places,? a trudging song from the latter CD. Sometimes the new songs reflected his continuing sturdiness a bit too well: the band marched grimly ahead while he sang the (always witty) lyrics. But if that??s what keeps him going, it??s worth it.
One of his best recent songs is ??First of the Gang to Die,? an ode to an antihero from ??You Are the Quarry?; it has already become a fan favorite. On Monday night, he tweaked the lyrics, singing, ??And he stole from the rich ?? which is you/And the poor ?? which is me.? And as he worked the crowd nonstop, grabbing hands and pausing to acknowledge screamed requests and fending off kissers, you could see what he meant: stardom is hard work, even (or especially) cult stardom.
Maybe he should be careful about all that human contact: isn??t that how someone catches a virus? Or maybe he likes to remind himself that his career, and his health, are at the mercy of fans who can be as gentle or as vicious as anyone else in love. This show felt like a triumph, but it also felt like a pleasant surprise, even though Morrissey has been doing this since the 1980s. ??You feared the worst, as you should,? he said. ??But occasionally. ...?

just wondering, is there anyone else who hasn't gotten their money back yet from this show?
i still haven't seen the 140 something dollars i've spent on my 2 tickets
-
I haven't gotten anything back yet, but I got my tickets through the Rams Head ticketing system instead of ticketmaster...
-
Still negotiating with Rams Head as the credit card I used had to be cancelled due to fraud. Good times.
-
I just spoke to customer service @ Ram's Head since my money also had not been credited backed yet.
She said that the concert is now being rescheduled for October although the actual date has not yet been confirmed. Stay tuned . . .
-
I just spoke to Morrissey, and he says with all this hot weather, his balls been dragging down around his knees.

I will be all over this if it comes to pass in October. However, somehow I very much doubt that it will . .

It really pisses me off that ticketmaster already refunded us automatically, so we'd have to try and get tickets again.
sucks.

I blame Morrissey. He's in on the fix, for sure. Trying to raise dough for his ball lift.

Same with RHL. If they were planning on rescheduling they could have let us hold on to the tickets so we could use them at the future date without having to endure this oh-so-pleasant ticket buying experience again.

Ummmm . . . that option is pretty much what's being given out. Hence the reason that TicketBastard gave out auto-refunds & Rams Head didn't. Any old tickets will still be honored at the venue/new show.
-
Boy, don't I feel stoopid. I wish the good folks at RHL would've told me that.
-
Has RHL actually made any sort of announcement at all? I haven't seen anything official since the day of the show. As far as I've seen they just said the show was off, then dropped it.
-
Hope they can reactivate my barcode. I'm not counting on it though.
-
I spoke with Ram's Head yesterday, and they informed me that people with ticketmaster tickets will have to buy tickets again.

I can't believe he's playing on halloween. I'm thrilled about this but damnit, I'm going to be so tired. (Any suggestions on how to survive three conecerts with in a short time span?) I'm planning on attending the Ryan Adams concert the night before and also, I plan on seeing She wants Revenge on Saturday October 28th. Looks like I'm going to have one hell of a halloween!

Thank gawd they're the last two dates of the tour, sick of chasing his ass over to England to finish it off each time, finally some reciprocal love.
Just re-read that, could be misinterpreted, or fodder for a Smackie barrage, but those that know me will understand so phuck it.
As bummed as the original cancelations were earlier this summer, these two dates are perfect for my ridiculous schedule in October/November, couldn't have been better if I picked them myself. Excellent phucking news, all and all this has been a great weekend :D

Now here's the funny thing for myself. I'd rather see him at Rams Head Live because it's much smaller than DAR. But if I keep my ticket for the RH show, I'd have to figure out how to get there. I go to UMD, and I don't have a car while at school. It's like I see him in a small venue with the challenge of trying to find a ride or I sell that ticket, take the risk of getting a decent seat at the DAR (last time he was there, i had terrible seats!) and ride the metro. With option 2, I know I have a ride but I might have a shitty seat and well, it's not as cool as seeing him on halloween.

The conventional wisdom is that Rams Head is a great venue due to it's capacity. Thing is in practice it CAN BE a great venue, when it's not sold out there is plenty of room and you can find a decent spot to watch a show. But when packed it is less than desirable place to see someone, the sightlines can be horrible, the venue has a weird flow with a set of gradations of flat to small step up tiers flowing toward the back and out to the side where the main bar is. When full to capacity this is less than ideal. Also for extremely sold out shows they open the balconies, and again is a weird configuration that is less than ideal, and the sound can also be hit or miss if your in one of the funky corners or up top.
So if you're able to score a ticket in the first section of DAR on the the floor in front of the stage you will have much better sight, sound, and freedom of movement. Rams Head will be like a herd of cattle. So dancing for all but the most physical, and obnoxious will be non-existent, just no room. Also to consider, it will be a sauna in there, I can't remember if they have a coat check or not, but that time of year, packed with people wearing layers of clothes and little breathing room, will make for a very sweaty patron.
I'll have tickets to both, and will go to both, but the combination of space, being a Friday, public transportation, and the fact that it's the last tour date overall would have me recommend DAR for anyone who can only do one.
And anyone thinking I'm sandbagging for tickets with this recommendation, I already have mine for Ramshead so I'm just trying to give an honest assessment for those who haven't been to a sold-out show there.
As far as it being halloween, I've NEVER gotten how people think they're seeing something special because it takes place on Halloween, it's just another phuckin day and happens to be a Wednesday this year. But at the Halloween 2004 show, Moz did wear a Priest's outfit, with the band coming out in friar wear. But this would NOT be a reason to favor one show over the other IMO. Unless of course you consider the dumb assess that are going to dress up that night making the previous point about being packed like sardines that night even more salient.
-
i saw moz on halloween years ago. i dont remember it being anything special. so - bncyed - which date (as i cant do all of them due to costs) would make the most sense to get tix to. im seeing the shout out louds on friday night, so that date is def ruled out. i was thinking sunday night - the last night of his nyc shows. or if theyre reasonable enough maybe 2 nights.
btw - does hammerstein have pit tix? never been to a show there, and last performance i saw there, the floor was all seats.
and i wonder if those dates are right, because according to hammerstein the hip are playing the 23rd and 24th. unless morrissey and the tragically hip are playing together, dont know how this will work out.

It's kind of weird, not exactly "PIT" tickets, there's a main floor and two balconies. It's possible to have seated shows there though I've never been to one. I don't like the place that much, but as long as you get on the floor, and in your case there early, you should be fine.
I have Iceland Airwaves & Voodoo so no NYC shows for me, but the DC area shows are perfect.

thanks! im noticing shows are a bit bizarre as far as tix are (with the 2 levels). def. want to be on the floor. assumng i see 2 shows - and the dates are somewhat correct - which 2 dates would you go. 2 in a row - or spread them out? im thinking sunday is def one of them, although if he loses his voice, maybe thats a bad idea and should have an earlier date too... thoughts :) tia!

I'd do whichever two would allow the most flexibility, that's going to be a busy time right after CMJ so there's going to be a lot of shit going on...you don't won't to pin yourself in with two expensive tickets at the detriment of a cool cheaper show on the same dates so I'd plan carefully based on those considerations. My statement about the resked DC dates provide a case in point, I forgot Nada Surf is playing a teeny club in Baltimore the night of the final Moz show in DC, so all I can say is phuck!

there is a coat check at Rams Head Live. and if you drove there, chances are you could park in the parking garage right there (or the one right next to it) and really not have to walk very far to get to the club.
plus, after the show you could always hop over to Fells Point and enjoy all that is the craziness of a Baltimore Halloween!

My statement about the resked DC dates provide a case in point, I forgot Nada Surf is playing a teeny club in Baltimore the night of the final Moz show in DC, so all I can say is phuck! [/QB]
i will reiterate your PHHHHHHHHUUUUCCKKKK! totally blanked out on cmj... ok well must figure out those dates and hopefully not have to ditch some tix. i just bought justice tix and those must not go to waste. ahhh so what do i know. justice is part of the cmj festival. and apparently one of the hottest shows announced. yay!

It's never happening. $75 million???!!!!
I gotta say . . . . I at least respect the man. Plus he really cares about his fans.
Morrissey Rewards Diehards, Quashes Smiths Reunion
August 23, 2007, 11:40 AM ET
Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
Morrissey is taking special care of his most devoted fans on his upcoming fall North American tour, which, as previously reported, begins Sept. 20 in Tijuana, Mexico.
A number of special opportunities have been created for multiple-night runs in Los Angeles and New York, including a "seasons ticket," with a reduced price for fans that want to attend every show.
For a 10-night stand at L.A.'s Palladium, a package with tickets to each show will be sold for the price of nine and will allow fans early entry to the venue, which will be closed for renovation following Morrissey's performances. This package goes on sale Monday (Aug. 27) and will only be available through Sept. 5.
For a five-show stint at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom, fans attending every night will save $125 off the combined face value of the tickets, and will receive early entry and a commemorative poster. On-sale dates have yet to be announced.
In addition, Morrissey's publicist has confirmed the artist refused a $75 million offer to tour under the Smiths name in 2008 and/or 2009, with the only mandate being that Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr would be part of the band. The Smiths also declined a multi-million dollar offer to perform in recent years at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, Calif.

He gets along with Marr! (Well, as much as Morrissey can "get along" with anyone.)
It's Joyce and Rourke he hates.

Morrissey
Washington, DC
Constitution Hall Fri 11/2/07 8pm
On sale Fri 9/21/07 12pm EDT
Price: $64.00 (plus service & convenience fees)
ouch!
-
That price is such crap! Last time he played DAR Hall, it was for 45-55 bucks plus fees. I think i'm going to stick with what I have because I only payed a little less than that.

from true-to-you.net:
"We are now delighted to announce the final 30 shows of the tour, and, by the time it ends on the 4th of November, Morrissey will have played 167 shows over 21 months. These shows will be the last Morrissey will do for the foreseeable future. With that in mind, all of the venues have been specifically chosen, as they are small and intimate, where Morrissey can see the eyes of everyone in the audience, and those in attendance can be in the thick of it. The desire is to go out with some great memories for everyone, as who knows what the future will bring."
think he will retire after this?
-
I really hope not. I mean I don't mind waiting 5 years for him to do a show again. I just hope he doesn't just stop.
-
No, don't think so. It most likely means he won't perform for the next three or four years.

For all you fanatics . . .
Stalker alert: A film about the fan culture surrounding Smiths leader Morrissey titled Passions Just Like Mine has just completed filming. According to Urbancowgirlproductions.com, the feature-length documentary ??tells the story of how fan culture can manifest itself.
? Cameras follow Moz fanatics to Morrissey conventions and tribute shows as the filmmakers atempt to explain how people became completely obsessed with the singer.
Sounds kind of disturbing to us. Check out a clip here. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EvHYpjEpOw)

Tickets are on sale for the Rams Head show now, but you need a password, and they only sent it to Rams Head ticket buyers.
So...if anyone has said password and would like to share it with a nice girl who bought her tickets from ticketmaster, please pm me. Thanks.

Don't think it'll work for you. They wouldn't know you purchased tickets through Ticketmaster. Per RHL:
Please note that this pre-sale is EXCLUSIVELY for those patrons who purchased tickets to the previously scheduled show on July 3rd. Those persons either purchasing more than 4 tickets or that did not purchase tickets to the previously scheduled performance will have all orders created during this pre-sale canceled.
-
Wait - Does that mean the old tickets from RHL are no good and they need to be replaced with new ones? I haven't seen any password yet.
-
Where did you see that? I got the password and ordered tickets, and Rams Head can't tell me if my order will be cancelled or not.
Jeebus this is complicated.
-
I just called and cancelled my order. When I bought those tickets, there was no message anywhere that stated that...kind of stupid if you ask me. oh well. Looks like it'll be the DAR show for us!
-
I purchased my tickets originally from RHL and got a refund from them. So that's why I got the email. If you still have your originals you will get the new date unless you contact them and tell them you're not interested. As far as I can tell this is only for people who got tix from RHL and not Ticketmaster. I don't see how RHL would be able to verify if you got the tix elsewhere.
-
Ticketmaster automatically refunded the tickets. We would've held onto them until it was officially cancelled. So, that's why it sucks for those of us who bought tickets through ticketmaster.
-
Got my tix for the 10/31 show at RHL in the mail today.
-

that's like a blanket statement, eh?
-
Yes, I believe it is! No big deal for this show though. I think we'll end up going to the DC one.
-
Morrissey...the musical? (http://www.nme.com/news/morrissey/30936)

Pre-sale, quick fingers, & the fact that I'm the shit. Not necessarily in that order, nor are they all mutually exclusive. :D
-
I got row O...I may try for better just for the heck of it during the regular sale, but for now I'm pretty happy with that since last year I saw him at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago and was probably about 15 "rows" back.
-
I couldn't get anything better than N in the presale, so I decided to go with the Baltimore show for now. I'll try the regular on-sale date for DAR.
-
Tickets on sale now through Rams Head.
-
well major bummed that i couldnt get the 5 day pass in nyc. instead i ended up with tix to 3 nights of shows and all GA Pit. and cant believe how much the tix were - but i digress. there is no way in hell i was going to miss Morrissey.
-
It's expensive considering he does not play more than an hour and a half. I think he played 1 hr 15 mins at Wolf Trap.

Morrissey Speaks
Sat, Sep 29 2007
Morrissey has announced a very rare press conference for television crews at the Hollywood Palladium in California on October 1, the same day his 10-show residency at the venue commences. The singer will perform five songs followed by a question and answer period.
Morrissey's residency is closing a chapter in the Palladium's history, as these will be the final 10 shows at the venue before it closes for extensive renovations.
Other upcoming stops on Moz's tour include the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan, Ill. (October 17), the Royal Oak Music Theatre in Michigan (October 19), the Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville, Ind. (October 20), the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City (October 22-28), Rams Head Live! in Baltimore (October 31) and DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. (November 2).
Morrissey's current tour began 18 months ago in Tulsa, Okla. Since then the singer has performed 137 shows in cities ranging from London to Mexico City and everywhere in between.
-
I just bought mine today. Apparently they added $35 tickets to the DAR show. Pretty good seats.
