Who's all a comin'?
A bit warmer than last year at this time... I guess he wants to make sure everybody's wearin' their stocking caps!

Wow....judging from the complete antipathy towards this thread, I'll assume that this show won't be well attended. I've never seen BDB before and I know people's opinions of his shows have been spotty. But I like what I've heard so I'm willing to give him a chance.
What's up with the posted set times, though? I thought there was an opener?
And hopefully the DC cabbies will be back in business or it'll be a long, cold walk back to Silver Spring!

I believe it sold out the night of last time

must have been a rainy night.

Looks like they are expecting some long sets, since I think last years ended around 12:30am. He wanted to play longer last time, but said the ordinances were keeping him from going till 3am supposedly.
Regarding the apathy on the board, I'm more sure it's the taste of music of frequenters of the threads here. Less fo the mellow and more of the harder stuff. I personally can't find myself getting excited about Marylin Manson or Pavement... must have missed that period in my listening-hood.
I've heard people raggin about his sets, but last years was fine. He's just, as it reads, a very public kind of guy. The first review I ever read of him mentioned his stopping-and-starting of songs. Doesn't bother me at all. Of course these are the same types of folks that bitched when the Beastie Boys did a 45 minute set straight through after being a few hours late due to weather. Hell, I waited through rain and mud for a Grateful Dead show to start not once, but twice at two different venues. These are the kind of folks that probably woudl wince and moan if they had to see an outdoor concert, let a lone one with a roof and plenty of alcohol nearby.
See ya at the show.

You missed the days of four out of every five threads being about Britpop.

Funny that, as there aren't any ordinances. Sounds like a P-Funk type excuse to me (for those not familiar, P-Funk arranges with the club to have them "pull the plug" on the band, exclaiming that they could go on and on and on...but it's all well-rehearsed).

I think it has much more to do with the fact that he's played here so often over the last couple of years that folks who've seen him again and again (to some disappointing effect) just don't care all that much this time around.

i'll be going, eventhough i saw him in 2001, 2002, and 2003.

i'm there.
never seen him before.

Well, sorry I missed those halcyon days of BritPop and other talk, there is somethign to be said, for those who have kept up with his performances and his DJ-ing in the UK, which were usually all night affairs, and at least, whatever excuse cooked up, coudl have been some BS, but he has the capacity. Supposedly hes a good DJ as well, so the thrid set coudl be him and a turntable for all I know... just maybe too much to lug around.
time to go freeze as we wait see ya in line.

It's not even cold out

Anybody from the Arlington area driving? I'd rather hitch a ride and split gas money than have to pay that cab fare for the ride home...

Enjoy.

the show was great. the best out of the 4 times i've seen him. though it was frightening how people were only there because they saw "about a boy", even 2 years after it was released.
-
was he sober and did he remember how to play his songs this time? did he through shit at the audience?

no, he's referring to his infamous "shitscreen" show in san francisco a couple of years back.
he played his entire show with a screendoor smeared in human feces sitting between him and the audience.
so he asked if he played his songs this time, and if he played them through shit at the audience.
