I know threads like this are gay, but any guesses if either Ted Leo show will sell out before the show day?
-
I dont think I have seen a sold out Ted Leo show yet.....
But I want to see Matt Pond again. I guess I will get tickets in advance.
-
Doesn't he usually sellout at the door? His buzz is steadily growing. I wouldn't risk it.
-
last decembers show definitely sold out at the door - pretty sure this summers one did as well
-
the shows generally do sell out. either the day of, or by 8.30pm the night of. and there is generally a hefty line of people buying tickets so save yourself soem time and buy them ahead of time.
-
Every Ted show at the Black Cat since last December has sold out sometime the night of the show.

Truth. This is the most homosexual thread EVER. Or maybe this thread is really happy!

We got our tickets for Thursday's show. Remember to say hi to us, the fat guy and Cameron Diaz lookalike.

The woman you linked is 5'3" 110 lbs.
The real Cameron Diaz is listed as 5'9" or 5'10" depending on which bio you read.
My wife is 5'9".
But you can compare by going here:

ggw is probably saving the pic to his hard drive as he reads this...another one for his collection.

So who's going and on which night (or both)?
I'm checking out Thursday's show. It's closer to the weekend. Cannot believe it's already December.
-
I'm hoping to go on Wed night. I'd like to see WSC open (though they REALLY need to add some new material to their set). I may just break down and buy the tix in advance through Ticketbastard to ensure that I get in.
-
I want to go on Thursday...I'm hoping that show won't sell out since there are two shows. I have a birthday dinner, so I can't make it until late (and also why I don't want to buy a ticket in advance, just in case dinner goes long).
-
I would like to go, but I will be saving my money and energy for GBV in New York this weekend.
-
I'm going to try to pop by to see Ted Leonsis on Wed.
-
We'll be there Wednesday.
Don't forget these shows are Food Not Bombs blanket drives.
-
wednesday. got my ticket last night
-
do some people go to both nights? i wonder if teddy convinces people to buy a ticket to the 2nd night on the way out.
-
How was the show?? And WSC?
I have tickets for tonight.

He did say "I'll see some of you tomorrow night" but that's about it.
Good show last night... not the best I've seen of him... it seemed the balance in the speakers was a bit odd. Highlights included the usuals... he took a request for Under the Hedge, also played Biomusicology, some from Hearts of Oak, and then mostly the new album, which was to be expected.
Dunno why, but I just don't find the new album as exciting.
He didn't play Ballad of the Sin Eater, which, I believe, is for one of two reasons-- either to save it to make you want to come back tonight OR because the guy who kept shouting out "SIN EATER" was an abnoxious oaf and pissed him off.
WSC did what they always do. Nothing new there. As usual, their hair was clearly the most exciting performer on stage.
Mary Timony was good too, but the crowd just wasn't listening. Her stuff is a little too down for Teddy's crowd, though.

He has not played it the last few times, the only time I have seen him played was when I requested it at the backstage solo show.
-
He did play a cover of Split Enz's "Six Months In A Leaky Boat". That was pretty cool.
As for WSC, they played a bunch of new songs. Supposedly, they may have a new disc out this summer. I liked what I heard.
It was definitely social hour at the Black Cat last night. Usually I just notice a handful of people not paying attention or talking too loud. Last night it seemed like everyone was chatting the whole time. Not loud and obnoxious, but more of a constant level of noise from the crowd. Not really a complaint - just an observation.
Good show, but I liked last winter's show better.
-
Did it sell out?
I still don't have my ticket for tonight, but I'm going to try to get there around opening time...
-
They were still selling tickets when I got there (just after 9:30). It was crowded, but I'm not sure it sold out. There seemed to be a bit of room behind the soundboard.
-
I may drive by after my dinner tonight just to see if I can get it...it may be late -- 10:00 or 10:30.
When did he go on last night?
-
I've got a Blonde Redhead bootleg from a show I attended at the old Black Cat. On tape the crowd is chattering not only through the breaks between songs, but during the songs themselves.

Judging from the # of folks behind the sound board last night I'd say it didn't sell out. I would expect tonight to sell out. Judging from the setlist (which was pretty different from the show I saw in Balt. at the beginning of the tour), I'd say he left a lot of songs for tonight so I guess he is planning on accomidating people who go both nights and want different set lists. I have not seen him play Sin Eater in about a year or so, possibly spurned on by the annoying chants. The solo show backstage was still the best I have seen.
-
Yes, yes, and yes. That was an excellent show.

Can anyone tell me what the set times from last night were, please? And when Ted Leo finished up?
Need to decide if I should start the playing sick drama early for tomorrow...
-
I'd say he went on at about 11.20 or 11.30. Finished up about a quarter to 1. They were supposed to be ordered 9 - Mary Timony, 10 - Wash Social Club, 11 - Ted, but I guess they ran a little late even though WSC blistered through their set. I guess we'll find out tonight if they get more/less punctual.
-
thanks...looks like I better hit the coffee shop before the show...ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
....and hit it tomorrow morning...pre-office, I'm definately coasting on fumes from last night through tonight.
-
Thanks, KCJones -- very helpful info. If it's not sold out, I should be able to catch all of T.L.
-
I missed Mary Timony but both WSC and Ted Leo were great!
-
From TM: "There were no tickets available that matched your request"
too close to showtime? or a sell out?

Too close. I could be wrong but I don't think BC has will-call.

They do have will call.
-
yeah, they have will call..so i hope that they cut off internet sales at a certain time. that means i have to go a little earlier.
can someone confirm this, so that i don't go down there for a sold-out show. :(

I am pretty sure they do cut off Internet sales the day of, but you can always try calling the Black Cat a little later
-
I'm suprised they sold out, a d'ood I know was still able to buy tickets for last night's show after Mary Timony was already halfway through her set.
-
Called Ticketmaster and they said it is a sold-out event.
:(

I would still call black cat later, I wouldnt trust ticketmaster.
-
Besides - I'll bet it's really easy to get a ticket from someone at the door. It's not like there's been a mad dash for tickets.
-
I have no basis for this, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Black Cat reserves a certain amount of tickets for door sales.

Good point, plus there may be no-shows as well.
-
It's the black cat, i would imagine you could work something out.
-
I also just think ticketmaster has one status in their system for when tickets are not available and they just assume it means it is sold out when actually internet sales have just been stopped for the day of the show.
-
I definitely think it would be worth your while showing up at the door.
It doesn't say sold out on the black cat website and they updated it today. And I do remember that when the death cab for cutie show there sold out on the day of the show (october of last year), they updated the site saying 'sold out' right away.
-
yeah.
-
not sold out
-
Good show! I really appreciate artists that work up a sweat after only playing three songs. The show lost a fair amount of momentum in the encore, I thought, but overall very good.
This was my first time seeing Matt Pond PA. They didn't exactly blow me away, but almost any band that incorporates the cello gets bonus points from me.
Vague Angels wasn't particularly good. Chris's lyrics were excellent, but his singing didn't do the lyrics justice. I wasn't impressed by his acoustic guitar playing either.
P.S. I got there around 8:45pm and had no problems at all purchasing a ticket.
-
This was the best Ted Leo show I have seen. And I guess I have seen quite a few now. Did anyone go to both nights? And would they like to comment on their preference.
I thought the encore was great, but then he played my favourite Ted Leo song to start it off. Under your hedge is brilliant.
-
Was the encore "26 Whores in the store next door (I need some more gore)" by Sisters of Mercy?

Err, no. He did the spllit enz cover of 6 months in a leaky boat though. Next time I will be requesting 25 whores.....
-
I went to both nights. He saved himself at the end of the evening last night by mixing it up with full band of 'Sorrowful Country' and finishing with 'dirty old town'. Other than that he stayed true to the setlist from Wed. even saying the same things between songs. I have seen him many many times now and these two shows were pretty great. Like I said yesterday, the solo show was still the best b/c he played most of his own catalog, a bunch of covers and 'towncrusher' (a chisel song), but 'Me and Mia' was pretty damn great last night and he'll always be worth more than the $10 it costs to go.

That is cool to know, thanks. I was not particularly tempted to go to both shows, but its nice to know I didnt miss too much....
