Title: Hip New Musical Genres
Post by: nkotb on July 12, 2007, 04:47:00 pm
Econo and I just invented the latest:

 Tang-rock

Example: "Dude, have you heard that new Tribe 8 album?  Pure tang-rock!"

Ghost rock. It started out as music that sounded like ghosts, but now it includes music that captures the feeling and emotions of ghosts.

That was a great line.

I thought he should have coined a fancy sub-genre name with it:

 Noriega-Rock

 Psych-ops-Rock [/b]
and one that actually exists:  nerdcore (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nerdcore)

With all this fake reunion stuff going on, (one or two original band members and a bunch of session players) it deserves a genre all it's own.

 NAFF ROCK

I think to be called a reunion there has to be a minimum of 80% of the original line up.

how do you propose to get 80% of a line-up if that band had 4 members or less?

according to the google machine... braff rock is also synonomous with 'blandcore'

 "What is a Braff Rock?
Braff Rock is a category of particularly wussy indie rock. You know the kind. Itâ??s what that boring vanilla dude Zach Braff listens to. Itâ??s made by sensitive pasty white dudes and involves quiet guitars and softly sung vocals. It could be playing softly in a coffee shop and it wouldnâ??t offend you. Itâ??s like sonic wallpaper. BORING."

Geeeez! you do the math!  ;)

Sound engineer makes 5, that would require 4 originals.
