They tore the roof off the mothesucka...
Anyone else go?
The Warner is not the greatest place to see a show. Granted it's a beautiful theater and very intimate, but they just don't get rock concerts. There were alot of technical problems at the beginning. After the first two songs, Friends of Mine and a somewhat muddy sounding Hungry Like the Wolf, the band stopped and Simon told some bad but endearing jokes while the technical issues were getting worked on.
They tore into Planet Earth, which sounded pretty good, but the band still had problems hearing each other on stage so they stopped the show, apologized, and took a ten minute break to fix the problems...
Anyway... the Duranies were brilliant... Simon and Nick put on a few pounds but otherwise they and everyone else looked and sounded good, very high energy...
Setlist was long and heavily skewed toward the first album, which was played almost in its entirety. Oddly, only one song from Seven & the Ragged Tiger.
Setlist in no particular order:
Friends of Mine (wow!!!!!!!!!!!)
Hungry Like the Wolf
Planet Earth
Come Undone
Ordinary World
New Religion
Night Boat (double wow!!!!!!)
Save a Prayer
Careless Memory
What happens tomorrow (?) (new)
Rio (simon played the sax part on harmonica)
Notorious (slipped into sister sledge "we are family")
Beautiful Colours (new)
Please Please Tell Me Now
---
The Reflex
Girls on Film

I was there! Awesome show! Pop at its prime! Would agree that the Warner Sound system just didn't do it, but performance wise they were spot on!! New songs? Are they planning a new album/CD (whatever it is called these days)? Rio is still one of my favorite albums....takes me back to...well...the 80's!!

Awesome show. Very. I don't even like Wild Boys, and it was great. Highlight was Please Please Tell Me Now, Nightboat was a fantastic journey back to 9th grade.
PS, I had no probs with the sound system. Thought it was loud and clear.

I was there too, and it was a lot of fun. I've never been into their later more pop songs, but was very happy they played so much from the first album. That first song was a great surprise. But it was too bad they had to take a break, it killed the momentum and I thought it took them a while to get back up to speed. Still, a fun show and I'm glad I went. Wish it could have been here though, it definitely would have sounded better.
