Title: Movie Remakes
Post by: Chisai Fry on January 19, 2005, 05:17:00 pm
I think that "Clash of the Titans" is an awesome movie, and when I was a little girl, Harry Hamlin was hot and the whole thing with Medusa was "das sheize."  But I also think that if someone out there is going to remake a film, this one would be hot.

There's a remake of John Carpenter's Assault On Precinct 13 currently floating around like a turd on the Cuyahoga.

You know, I wasn't a huge fan of the first one.  I do indeed like Carpenter, though.  The Thing was the second horror movie i've ever seen, Alien being the first.  I always love the scene where Kurt Russell is testing all of the guys to see who is infected.  The one who is infected eats this guys arms with his stomach, and his head falls off.

Apparently a remake of Logan's Run is in the works.

Didn't you like the ice cream cone scene?

Wow, I don't even remember that scene.  I am definitely not a fan, then.  For some reason, when I try to think of a scene in that movie, that movie "Jeepers Creepers" gets in the way.  Why is that?  They don't have anything in common, or do they?

I sincerely doubt it.  Though to be honest, I've never seen jeepers.  But I'd bet against it.

I love older sci-fi stuff and War of the Worlds is one of my favorites.  The remake is coming this summer, with Tom Cruise though.  So its bound to be retarded.

Plus Spielberg is attached to it, so you know in the end that the aliens are all going to land and bake cookies side by side with the humans...

I'm waiting for the Dr. Strangelove remake, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.  With Johnny Depp in the Peter Sellers roles.  Leonard Maltin is sure to give it three stars!

Have you seen the HBO Sellers biopic with Geoffrey Rush?  Rush's Dr. Strangelove impersonation is eerily spot on.  A bit of tragic life for Mr. Sellers...

No, but can you please tell me when it becomed available on DVD?  I am a bit of a Sellers fan.  I even have a CD of him singing Beatles hits as Strangelove.

Didn't it just premiere on HBO?

I personally thought the remake of Dawn of the Dead kicked serious ass. The original is fine as a classic horror movie, but the one from last year was a great, savage popcorn flick.

I fell into a coma watching the Japanese original of "The Grudge."  Could the American version with Sarah Michelle possibly be any better???
I thought the new "Dawn..." was great as well.  But there is something that I don't remember.  How were they able to get on the second floor?  In the original, they couldn't climb stairs could they?  Didn't the escalators turn on or something?  It's been a while since I've seen it, but it was always my favorite one.

The remake sucked ass, IMHO.  The original is the CITIZEN KANE of horror.

I finally got to see Donnie Darko.  It wasn't the worst movie ever made, but it certainly didn't wow me.

Kosmo, is Shaun really, really worth it?

hmmmm, well it's very funny if you like generally dry british humour.  it's only got a of couple really gory bits. it's got the secretary from "the office" and bill nighly who is always worth a howl or two.  the funniest scene for me involves them choosing which records to throw at the zombies.  i'd say rent the dvd or wait till it drops in price.  i'm taking the plunge and buying the dvd to see what the quality of the extras it has.

I actually liked the original.  The slow pace and multiple story arcs didn't really bother me. From what I heard, the Sarah Michelle Gellar remake was actually worse than the original, so I can't imagine you'd like it much, but then, I liked the original, so maybe you would.

I liked the new one, which probably means most people on this board wouldn't like it.
