as if ruining the lost boys with a sequel, and the remake of nightmare on elm street in the works wasn't bad enough.

this has been talked about since i was in college .. like 2002ish. it's pretty awful and i'm hoping to god never gets made.
full disclosure - i think goonies is terribly overrated anyway. i was more of a fan of mosnter squad.
-
I think Goonies came out just the second I aged out of its target demo. It seems like everyone I know who's barely younger than me has seen it.
-
There's this old theatre on Cary St. in Richmond that shows old movies every Saturday at midnight. EVERY time they show the Goonies I go see it.
-
I only saw it in 1992 when I was very much in its target demo, loved it to pieces and still enjoy it, random absurdist humour gets me everytime.
-
According to IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089218/), it was released on 6/7/85, my 21½ birthday.
-
and here i thought i was done with this forum.
no offence, but this place is evil.

Well, the Lost Boys sequel is sort of one of those straight-to-DVD/cash grabs that hardly has any connection or cast from the original.
However, I heard somewhere that Donner might even direct this Goonies sequel since it has almost all of the original cast. So it's more of a Chinatown/Two Jakes kind of thing.
And I think the Nightmare on Elm Street thing is more of a prequel that explains how Freddy was the "Springwood Slasher" but I could be wrong.
You'd be amazed at what they've made sequels to. I mean "Open Water 2?" "Point Break 2?" "Beetlejuice 2?!?!?!?!" (http://www.dvdsequels.com/)

hollywood has run out of ideas and the balls to take a risk, so it's re-hashing a pseudo-classic? we are shocked. shocked i tell you.

Ahh...the Byrd Theater. Is it still there and still $1?
-
Never seen it, but you guys are saying The Goonies is a "pseudo-classic" movie? The Goonies that's batting a whopping 60 on metacritic? http://www.metacritic.com/video/titles/goonies?q=goonies (http://www.metacritic.com/video/titles/goonies?q=goonies)
"Classic"...talk about a phrase that gets tossed around too often. How about that pseudo-classic new Fall Out Boy album?
-

$1 matinees, $2 for the evening shows, $3 for the midnight movies.

Genius is never appreciated in its time. However, yesterday's "genius" often smells rancid when exposed to the harsh light of the 21st century. Mr. "Walk on the Wild Side," I'm looking in your direction.

Not sure how this supports or debunks any argument, but Lou Reed has put out at least 2 brilliant albums since Goonies (which I have never seen so therefore can not comment on) was released.
-
Go fuck yourself Brian.
-
i see nothing much has changed. ahhh....

Mistrial (1986)
New York (1989)
Magic and Loss (1992)
Set the Twilight Reeling (1996)
Ecstasy (2000)
The Raven (2003)
Hudson River Wind Meditations (2007)
In your book, two of those are "brilliant?" Brilliant? Ok. Remind me never to listen to your opinion ever again. Although, I doubt if I ever did in the first place.
Brian
P.S. By the way, which track pushed the needle over to "Brilliant" for you, "Sex With Your Parents (Motherf***er), Pt. 2" or "Harry's Circumcision?"
-
New York was a decent album.

Songs for Drella with John Cale is prob my fave of his from the 80's. You'd love it Brian, it's a biographical piece about that over-rated faggot poster maker Andy Warhol. What a douche he was.
-
He was kind of a douche, wasn't he? I came away with that thought after reading a biography of him. Cool painter though. Right up there with Davinchi and Van Gogh.

Does it matter? He painted most of that shit in the 60's and 70's. He's irrelevant now.

O come on now, I'm no art expert (or music expert either), but he's as relevant in his field as Lou Reed is, right?

people are scared of faggots. they are better than you. deal with it. warhol had more talent as a human being than most will ever that have come after him. he changed the way EVERYTHING is advertised. he altered music with his shows supporting velvet u. he made people hate to look at the true art that went behind the film making process. and he was a gay. and he was better than you. deal with it, non-faggots.
-
Just be glad i'm here to remind you that everything old is old and lame man. Fuck all that shit. You're all so fucked and lame.

Do I literally need to add sarcasm tags to my posts or can you not see that I'm just making fun of our local village idiot?

I gained a much greater appreciation for Warhol's work once I was able to actually see his work in person. i.e. seeing the actual Brillo Box project has much more impact then seeing a picture in some book.
At the exhibit of his I saw in Edinburgh they also had examples of the work he did as a commercial artist for magazine advertising in the early 60s. He was a real life Mad Men. Also, saw for teh first time examples of the work he had done specifically for children also very cool...

I like him, but his disdain of anything before 2001 is grating.
