Title: What we learned from the earth-shattering news of S. Wei
Post by: Brian_Wallace on April 02, 2008, 10:19:00 am
Lesson #1.  If you're Guns N Roses, don't replace an egotistical, crazy, unreliable lead singer with another egotistical, crazy, unreliable lead singer.

And that's about it.  They say that Weiland has "left" the band not that the band has broken up.  So they may be looking for another lead singer.  For which I have only one candidate...

Well, it's not like I didn't see that one coming. My friends and I joked last year at V-fest about how we would go watch Velvet Revolver if only their name was Stone Temple Pilots. Looks like this year, somebody might just get it right for once.

But honestly, supposed super groups never last really. Besides, Velvet Revolver could just recruit Chris Cornell (that guy who got dumped by Rage Against the Machine...yes I'm being sarcastic here). Look on the bright side, maybe Slash will motivate Axl to finish Chinese Democracy (ha).

do people feel that buckethead is a good guitarist, or feel like what slash stated about him, "he doesn't have the soul . . . like me."

I just read an exhaustive article on "Chinese Democracy" in "Classic Rock" magazine (UK magazine.)  Anyhow, there are some wild stories with regards to Buckethead and the chicken coop they built for him in the studio so he could record his solos.  Axl wasn't the only insane person working on that record.

The other stunning thing is how much money has been wasted on the record.  Renting studio times and instruments for (literally) months without anyone using them. Hundreds of thousands of dollars renting stuff that no one used.
