Title: FRED
Post by: mankie on December 29, 2003, 10:42:00 am
Is the greatest radio station of all time...EVER!

Just got XM in my car and FRED is basically my complete cd collection in one massive cd changer set on random.....I almost swerved off the road this morning when they played The Beautiful South....BS on radio!!!!
Sure, once in a while they throw some crap like REM at you, but then I just flip to U-POP then, which is my second fave channel so far

The first station I tuned in to of course, was the 80's station, but that is utter bobbins with Reo Speedwagon, Motley Crue and all that other shite....FRED is what I consider 80's...but I think XM calls it "Classic Alternative" There's some other channel that they may as well call "Radio Pearl Jam"...still going through them all, but am very impressed with it so far.

Mankie seems to be fascinatingly enthralled by small shiny metal trinkets.  "By Jove, I believe we've found the currency with which to buy his entire island!"

Actually, I've always been more "techy" than I let on. My wife got me the Roady for chrimbo which is a little doo-hickey that you can install in your car....not unlike a radar detector, that lets you get XM. The pda is something I've always had so now my current one is deader than a Ramones reunion tour, needs to be replaced.

kosmette has a new favorite commercial free radio station as well, it's called an ipod. we're in the process of getting the thing loaded up with all her fav cds.

now before someone takes me to task for being a ipod hater in the past... i was a ipod doubter, as "i doubt i'll ever own ipod because it's expensive".  well kosmette must have been good this year because santa brought her one this year.

mankie, i was going to get my boyfriend the roady, and instead went with the receiver and the car adaptor. i figured it'd better in the event he wants to buy a home adaptor, eventhough he now needs to get the thing installed.

My wife got me the Roady and they have a special offer going on with it so I got the home-adapter free with purchase of the Roady. Installation was a piece of cake...I did have the advantage of having a Ferrari tech help me with it so it's a totally professional job, not a wire exposed anywhere.

all is in hand... kosmette likes to organize and catagorize things, so she already has several smart playlists created.

I received a 10 gig iPod for Christmas.  Yesterday I spent about 5 hours walking around DC.  I listened to about 7 albums worth of music.  Coolest techie gadget I own.

I too got an XM reciever for Xmas. Must have been the gift of choice this year, well, except for the Ipod. One shiny cool music playing gadget at a time.

All I know is that one Saturday morning I borrowed my roomate's car and listened to a match.  I'm assuming they don't randomly play matches on XM.  And yes, I meant Footie, the game they play in jolly England.

That's the BBC World Service...already saved in my Roady! I thought you meant footie 24/7 for a minute.

I noticed you ----- out the 'F' word, that reminded me of a gift my wife got from her mate in Ireland. It's a T-shirt that simply says,

 FCEK
 The Irish Connection

 I thought it was brilliant.

Why do you call it foot ball again?
      <img src="http://www.boners.com/content/791556.1.jpg" alt=" - " />
It should be called nose ball...

 This is football

Hmm, the ---- wasn't from me.  Possibly it was from the computer I'm using here at work.

Sorry for the mislead on the football channel!  I guess BBC World Service will have to do for now.

I got a Roady as well but was going to exchange it for the complete system, where is this special going on?

She got the roady through Crutchfields, but I'm pretty sure the special is from the manufacturer of the Roady....not the retailer, because on the form it asks for the retailer you bought it from.

It does say if you bought it between November 21 and December 31, so maybe you all shopped too early or something?

And Crutch (http://www.crutchfield.com/) delivery is lickety-split, 'cause their HQ's located in Virgin territory.

I'm off to bestbuy at lunchtime so I'll see  were they have the forms....it's just a form that came in the shipping box, not the box for the unit.
