I just watched this last nite. The musicianship of Zappa's band was just unbelievable. Is there any contemporary comparison?

it's too bad there isn't more older footage, which makes it kinda disappointing. i bet they come up with another dvd in the future. people (myself at the front of the line) will buy pavement stuff, and buy lots of it.

They are legends amongst Gen-Y-ers in Japan. It's rather amazing.

Saw the film at the old Black Cat years ago and eventually picked up a copy for a couple of bucks. Haven't gotten around to watching it again. Kind of like all those DVDs that came with CDs.

It's very funny to watch Ian McKaye scoop ice cream at Haagen Das and listen to both him and Mike Ness sound like total morons.

That's a common observance. I have a ton of DVD's (music & not) and I hardly watch them. Once I buy a DVD, it's a sure bet I won't watch it more than once.

I finally watched this last night. It's interesting, but a little long. And a little heavy on the "He's so sad and lonely and neglected" angle. He was quite the scenester back in the 60s-70s.

Does anybody put them on the stereo and turn the TV off? We do that often - it's kind of like having a live CD or a greatest hits in the case of videos.

I am sometimes having them on the television while reading. Normally I abhor having the TV on while reading, but with music videos this is not being the case at all. Most especially when I am reading the Bhagavad Gita or the Baltimore Sun, you see.

I liked it, seen most of the bands live already, I think it captures them pretty well and the sound is great...Ted Leo and Bob Mould are the highlights for me...French Toast and the Evens were also good. For an interesting Alpha and Omega I watched the Minor Threat DVD after...proving that Ian McKaye has been around.

That's a tad melodramatic, but pretty accurate. The music is stellar and I was quite surprised at how moving the film is - particularly the end. If you like any of these bands, it's definitely worth hunting down.
