Okay, this is how insane I am. There was SO much buzz on this board about this show, I bought 8 tickets. From the box office, so no ticket charges. I only have 3 people going.
Anyone need a ticket????? Bargain price of $12, how 'bout.....
Email me at nancy_bagot@yahoo.com

i'll be there gonna be killer
-
I have a ticket, but I don't think I can handle the lateness of this show and might bail. Waiting for the club to post the set times.
-
Saw them at Irving Plaza last week and they fucking brought the heat. I'd forgotten just how great the original line-up was/is. Can honestly say they're better now than they were back in the day. It is definitely worth blood shot eyes Friday morning.
Only one new song...the rest of the set is classics from the early EPs and the first two Elektra albums.

Mic Harrison and The High Score 10:30
Superdrag 11:15
-just buy a red bull vodka and you'll be able to handle the lateness of this show.
-
11:15 start time isn't bad...would you recommend seeing the opener?

well, as you probably know, Mic Harrison was in Superdrag for a bit. But i believe he's got a more country feel to his stuff.
either way, its like 75 minutes from doors to the drag, so i'll probably try and catch him.

DEFINITELY be there for Mic. His set will be very high energy. It's a lot more like his stuff with the V-roys than Superdrag. He'll get the crowd going for sure.

Not too bad, no.
Any guesses as to how long Superdrag will play? I'm wondering if I can get away with Metro'ing or I'll have to drive. (The last train to Greenbelt is at 12:21). I'm guessing I'll have to drive, but not sure I really want to.
-
The setlists I have seen put their set around an hour-and-a-half.
-
i might be home by 2am, thats when i get home from work most nights anyway...
-
If anyone wants a ticket, I'll be outside the club at 10:30. Red sweater coat & jeans. Just yell out "hey Bags" or "Hey Nancy"

So good, dounded great, and tom pappas is a fuckin mad man
played for over two hours
talking to them after it seems like there is a good chance they may not do this again for a LONG time
-
Something tells me there's more to come from this lineup.
Show was insane. Curfews be damned. They played just about everything you'd want to hear and still made time to hang out at the merch booth until everybody who had swag to be signed was satisfied.
Highlights were "Senorita," "True Believer," and "Rocket" (w/Mic Harrison helpin' out.)
-
I thought the show was great too. I listened to those first couple of albums and eps ad nauseum back in the day, so I was thrilled with the lineup and the set list. Sam Powers always seemed like a decent guy, but he's no Tom Pappas.
-
easily one of the best shows of the year
I dunno if they record thats great but I think john may not be into touring as much anymore. Fair enough
and I really didnt notice this untill now but early superdrag seemed a lot more influenced by MBV than I remember. That tremolo guitar sound that superdrag gets was really good sounding
and it was cool hearing john play a MBV song for a bit
-
I've been listening to that tour-only double CD of demos all day. Shit is hott.
-
almost forgot...
Mic Harrison and the High Score kicked ass. They crammed in a ton of good stuff in their 30ish minutes. Robbie Trosper is a guitar god. The "rock and roll buildup" did not disappoint. Sadly though, no one burst into flames.

Very good show. Superdrag were, well, super. I was pretty damn tired by the end and was rather thankful there was only a single encore. But it was definitely worth it. I'm glad I dragged my lazy ass out to this show.
I didn't really care for Mic Harrison and The High Score, but maybe I just wasn't in the mood for his brand of southern rock. The only songs I liked were the two that the lead guitarist (Jasper?) sang. His first song was blistering. If he started his own band, I'd check him out.
I'm kind of wishing I had picked up that tour-only double album ggw mentioned. I didn't realize it was tour-only. Picked up a couple other Superdrag albums instead.

You're in luck. The High Score is Mic's backing band but they also do their own thing as The High Score, with Robbie Trosper taking lead vocals. The two songs they did Thursday night from the High Score catalog were "Ringing In Our Ears" and "Leo Johnson." Both are on their self-titled new album. You can find them here:
