i can't tell if that t-shirt is ironic or not.
-
To an outside observer, wearing a 2007 ING NYC Marathon shirt isn't ironic, since I'm running it. However, I ran the marathon as a covertly ironic statement, thus rendering said shirt ironic.

your laces match your shirt. is that ironic as well?
-
That's because I was fighting cancer. Also, the shirt was free.

i'm sorry . . . i know you were running for a great cause and all, but nice shot of your "bulge." or perhaps that is where your ipod was tucked.
-
I thought iPods were banned at the marathon....

WTF? is this a common thing at marathons? why would the organizers do that? i'd definitely need some auditory stimulation to make it through 23 miles.
nkotb, congrats again - huge achievement!

Congrats, fam. I'm most def proud of you.
Way to get your Chariots Of Fire on . . .
-
ipods are banned at most races now. I ran in the goblin gallop 5K in Fairfax a few weeks ago... However, everyone still does it. I mean, what are they going to do... tackle you on the pavement and wrestle away your tunes? I don't think so...
-
I heard rumors they were banned, especially after Chicago; apparently a lot of runners ignored or didn't hear the advice to slow down and/or stop due to the headphones. Still, I say tons of people with them, and never once heard a single person say they shouldn't be used.
On a related note, my Shuffle decided to stop working that fucking morning, so I ran in silence the whole way. God bless the crowds for support and bands playing on the streets.
P.S. Walkonby, thanks for noticing. I think

it was only humour. perhaps what you need a funny "boner." (rim shot) besides, mr. marshmallow said he had nice legs.
-
Orange shirt - claret shorts!!! Puleeze!
Nice one running the 26.2 miles of a marathon (23miles my arse)
-
why is it that nkotb is the only person in the picture who actually looks they are running?
-
Because, and I say this from personal experience, when you're on a 5 hour pace, you're barely running.
Congrats, nkotb. You've hit another milestone. You got married, you ran a marathon, you got a puppy. What's next, a baby?

Now now now, bull...don't jump ahead of yourself. I can surely run to fight cancer AND have people noticed that I'm well hung. Hey, I'm no Director, but I can what I can for a white guy.
Also, I just found out the orange laces helped fight childhood obesity, not cancer. Oh well...fat kids need help too.

Priceless!!!

If the fat kids were running the race instead of you, wouldn't that do more to stop childhood obesity?
-
True, but aren't orange shoelaces the next best thing?

I'd rank orange shoelaces a distant third behind "getting off their fat, lazy asses," and "making them eat only oranges."
But still you're a humanitarian, no doubt.
