My wife has been hinting about moving back...the cost of living and especially the price of houses here are making it very difficult to settle. I'm so not in favour of it, but spouses must be listened to so we're thinking about Florida for a change. Anyway, I was beginning to get used to the idea until yesterday when I was in Blarney and nipped into the Woolen Mills (gift shop/cafe) for a pee....only to be surrounded by comments such as "Blanche...I tried to get you a corfee but they ain't got no soy milk" and "That liddle carstle is so cute, I just had to kiss that darling blarnee stone"
Then I remembered why the hell we moved away in the first place!

A cantankerous old man moving to Florida? Who'da thunk it???

You're on the national "persons of interest" list.....doubt if they'll let you back in, without full, 24 hour video monitoring....good luck,though.... ;)
-
Florida? Didn't we have a heated debate on this board about the weather there?
-
Feels like Florida here today...Without an impending hurricane, at least.

Only two things come from Florida...
Steers & Queers

So you're moving from the nation's third most dangerous state to the nation's second most dangerous state?
I guess that could be considered "moving up."

That's Texas, fool. :p
More like gators and geezers!
Mankie, they've got cockroaches as big as medium sized dogs and the alligators have been doing a lot of people eating lately.
And from what I've heard from someone with relatives there, they still haven't finished building back up from the last couple of hurricanes. Think this was in the West Palm Beach area.
If I were moving to Florida, I think that I would consider somewhere around the Tampa or Vera Beach area.
-
Oh, we're a long way from making the decision.....well I am anyway. Personally I'd rather live in a cave in Ireland than a mansion in doodleville, but that's just me. But then again, I do love my wife so would rather be unhappy myself than her.
I've suggested other places, Italy, Spain etc. but she said an English speaking country is a must....I'm hoping if I hang on a couple more years that will count the USA out!!! ;)

Menorca, nice and quiet island. English spoken there, I guess, taking into account the amount of foreigners living there.
-
I think deep down inside, Mankie loves the good ol' U.S of A, he will just never admit it to us. ;)

It took you this long to figure that out? ;)

sorry you guys are having a hard time settling back in but I can't say I'm surprised to hear this.....it routinely boggles my mind when friends tell me how much they are paying for houses (and this is from someone who's done well out of the DC housing boom), cars, gas, beer......basically everything
-
To be honest, I bet Mankie would be kicking his ass if he realized that if they waited about a half a year to a year longer to move that they could have probably gotten twice as much for the house they sold.
Everything has skyrocketed here too except the average working stiff's salary.

You should move to California.

Ah, yes, you were the lead defendant in the case: 9:30 fourmite vs. Florida weather
(aka: "Sink or Swim" case)
Nah, you won't leave. If you do, you'll be back in six months. Better off heading north!

We should also throw in his vehement defense towards Baltimore. Or Sonick vs. the good citizens of the Greater Baltimore area re: the new slogan. He's found his niche in Baltimore and will stay here, do or die.
Doubt he'll go north, it's too close to Canada. LOL. The only Canadian I've ever known who isn't a Canuckophile. (What would the proper word be?)

Unfortunately, that's NEVER happened.

hilarious. just moving to florida for school, not selling my house in Baltimore either, thank you very much.
oh, i'll be back. with plenty of mosquito bites and a sunburn to show for it....
-
Actually, when I said "north", I meant Canuckville!
I didn't think you'd sell your house. Especially with the new slogan for Baltimore: No Slogan City.
What will you do with the lack of shows? Go to all the campus concerts, I suppose. Perhaps Goo Goo Dolls will play. :p
