Title: nine inch nails
Post by: Got Haggis? on February 22, 2005, 06:49:00 pm
yeah so, rumors are they are playing mainly smaller venues - and from the dates confirmed so far, looks like thats true.  wonder if that means we will see them at the 930? if so that would be pretty cool - just not the same seeing them someplace huge.

anyway, at least 2 of the songs from the new album have been leaked - the hands that feeds, and the line begins to blur.....the hand that feeds is a really poor quality radio rip...but the line begins to blur is high quality....pretty good stuff. looking forward to the new album.

Apologies to NIN fans and Pitchfork haters alike, but this (http://pitchforkmedia.com/record-reviews/n/nine-inch-nails/fragile.shtml) was one of my all-time 'fork favorites.

Ouch, Trent got diss'ed and 'forked.  Has anyone heard this CD?  Agree?

pitchfork is a joke

pitchfork is a joke.  half the time it's like the reviews have a thesaurus on hand and just use as many words as possible to sound all high and mighty.

somethingawful.com had a great pitchfork parody site once.....rich dork media and music reviews

 lol

Knee-jerk Pitchfork bashing is really original and insightful. Extra points for not mentioning the review I linked to, just making generalizations. Bravo!

To add to the small venue rumor, there were two dates posted for the Electric Factory on Ticketmaster but then they were taken down before they ever went on sale.

Can anyone even fathom what chaos would ensue with ticket presale posts if NIN played at the club?  Absolutely frightening.

Double word score for you:

 1) back to back rhyme of "fantastic" and "sarcastic."

 2) Almost a haiku:
 Extra points to you
 for a fantastic sarcastic
 reply.  kudos!

I take Pitchfork with a grain of salt when I disagree with a review there. Just people writing about music... and on balance, they do a pretty solid job of picking good music and slamming the stuff that deserves it. Seems to inspire so much vitriol though. So someone rips something I like. Pft. Big deal. Opinions are like... well, you know.

Anyway, I'm a longtime fan of NIN, and first saw "them" live in Feb '91 in SF. Loved the Fragile, and still laughed my ass off when I read that review. Pitchfork routinely rips on the Reverend Horton Heat's albums, and I'm a huge fan there as well.

However, I do not care for Jimmy Eat World or Audioslave, and the following have got to be my favorite Pitchfork reviews ever.
Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American (http://pitchforkmedia.com/record-reviews/j/jimmy-eat-world/bleed-american.shtml)
  Audioslave - S/T (http://pitchforkmedia.com/record-reviews/a/audioslave/audioslave.shtml)

So what is the consensus on dates and venues?  I'd seen Philly and Boston posted but they've completely disappeared.  Anyone seen anything else?

right, but I am looking for for if the Philly and Boston dates are actually happening.

Perhaps it is time to call Trent.

Accuse him of a "terrible lie" if those dates aren't happening.

i heard "closer" in subway today, it was a great backdrop to people complaining about getting too many tomatoes on their sub

"put a little squirt of mayo over on that side, NO OVER THERE!!" ... "cut that sub three times!!" ... "can i see how big the tomato is? ok, put two on .. no just one"

is this just a DC phenomenon? i've never seen people so rude in a subway.

so far i've heard Getting Smaller, The Line Beings to Blur, and The Hand That Feeds from the new album. Sounds pretty good - i'd say more "poppy/rocking" than his previous work.

Nice. First the hacker broke into it, then took that  Secret Service guys info, then paris got it. The photos from her sidekick are interesting too.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand, if trent decides to come to 930 i think i would camp for tickets. I was just listening to downward spiral the other day, and its good stuff. --Wonder how much tickets would be? If theyre playing at smaller gigs maybe not as much as i would like to think.

DLA:  go to the "Just announced" thread; there's two posting on NIN European and US tour.  If you click on the link at the bottom; you should find out what the tickets prices are...good luck.

i had two tickets in my basket for the first night in philly, then kept getting error messages from the server.  when it finally processed my order, the tickets had been removed from my basket.  hopefully some of the other folks working with me on this had better luck.

apparently, my order was magically processed through an error.  i just got a confirmation email.  weird.  two tickets to electric factory night one.

I tried again and managed to get 3 tix in my cart. After it finally processed my billing information, I filled out my credit card stuff and clicked to order , but then It said I waited too long to complete the order and the tix were released to others.

apparently, The opening band "The Dresden Dolls" (they kick ass btw) will be playing at the 930 club on 05.20.05.
this show is in the middle of the "With Teeth" tour
but NIN has not been "confirmed" on that date.
 http://www.dresdendolls.com/calendar/index.htm (http://www.dresdendolls.com/calendar/index.htm)
i still have hope that NIN will be playing with them on that nigth.

 i hope so.

yikes.

 you think so?

they're one of the "Top 5 Bands That Have Pissed Me Off" in the last couple of years ... there's something so grating about the lead singer, reminds me of high school drama club or annoying NYU kids.
