What would you do?
I'd hate to have bought pricey tickets for Bjork's Sept. 24 show at Madison Square Garden if a D.C. show gets announced later.
But if no D.C. show is going to happen, then obviously I should buy NYC tickets sooner rather than later. (I haven't been to a non-classical show with assigned seating in a looooong time -- such a foreign concept!!)
-
I think it's more of a quetion of whether or not you think MSG will sell out.
I have always felt that if you are willing to resell those tickets for face, you won't have a problem recouping your money if a DC date is announced later. The danger is if MSG show doesn't sell out. But even if it doesn't sell out, the seats you buy today will be better than any tickets somebody decides to buy week or so before the show, so you should be able to resell them.

Very unlikely there will be a DC date, or anywhere closer to DC than MSG. I'd be a happy camper if there were, and would go to both.. but I think the NA leg is complete with the dates you have seen, you're much closer to a new album than a show in the area IM(U0)O.
The biggest clue is that adding any date to the already announced dates would mean she'd have to play back to back, which she doesn't do anymore, or it would have to be after MSG also unlikely because she has another leg starting shortly after on another continent.
Though there is a six day gap between the last show in Europe (Glasgow) and the First in Canada (Toronto), but that also happens to be the same route that runs through Reykjavik a far more likely destination than anywhere around here.
In any case if you got Pit GA for MSG you'd have no trouble getting your money back for them.

I think the presale is sold out; I got an error message reading:
"At this moment there are not enough tickets available to fulfill your request. Please try again using a lower quantity or tickets or choosing a different ticket type.
"Currently there are not enough Price Level 2 tickets to fulfill your request."
I wasn't offered any other "Price Level," so I'm assuming "Price Level 2" is how they designate presale.
If the presale is sold out... should I assume that all the general-admission floor tickets are gone?
-
No, regular sale is tomorrow. There will be floor tickets tomorrow.

Thanks for the input!
What time does the regular sale start -- 10 a.m. Eastern time?
I haven't tried to buy tickets for a big-time show like this in 15 years or so. Is buying them online my best bet? Will the links for the presale guide me to the right place, or do I need to go directly to Ticketmaster or one of those places?

Great; thanks very much! :)
Yet another question: The info on the presale page indicated that the options were will-call or UPS delivery.
I assume there's typically a charge for UPS delivery via Ticketmaster? How much does it run?
-
Road trip to NYC! Woot!
-
when was the last time she played a DC area date?

MSG almost always has tickets that you can get sent to you via USPS for no charge. unless its different for bjork, that should be an option. considering i just bought pit tix for interpol at msg and am having them delivered via usps. good luck with getting pit tix at msg. i never have any luck getting them, unless i get it through pre-sale. maybe youll be luckier.

There's usually an option for FREE regular post, and you'll have plenty of time to receive the ticket.
The presale had 4 levels of tix when I posted the link yesterday, it proceeded to sell out very quickly but you'll have a chance tomorrow and I would suggest the GA seats/standing if you can get 'em.

Capitol Ballroom May 15, 1998 was the last time and Capitol Ballroom August 10, 1995 is the only other time she's played this area as a solo artist, ergo chances aren't very good. Though I suppose you could say we're "due."

I managed to get floor tickets -- not GA Pit, alas, but decent-looking floor seats.
Thanks for the tips!
:)

And what's awesome is I skipped BOTH of these shows, thinking "She'll be back." Wernt wernt wernt.

she skipped DC two times after 1998
2001 with the orchestra (vespertine tour)
and
2003 the one with the fireworks

I wasn't in the D.C. area for the shows in 1995 or 1998.
But now I sorta wish I'd roadtripped up to NYC and caught one of her shows earlier this year (I think she did three shows?) in venues MUCH smaller than Madison Square Garden.
Ah well...

Yep,
Radio City, United Palace, and the Apollo...
I think I said it in a post earlier this year after it was confirmed she was coming stateside and would play coachella..."you have to go to Bjork, because she seldom comes to you."
The most dates she's played in any particular 12 month period since turning solo 15 years ago is 45 WORLD WIDE, and that was in 95, since then it's usually in the 30 show range including festival appearances.
Now with another child it's only going to get worst though she's playing quite a few more than I expected this time around.
But whatever the effort you have to make to go to her will be richly rewarded, and despite the cavernous space at MSG she'll turn it out, always has always will.

Yep, I suppose I learned my lesson there.
;)

there will not be a DC date
every time she tours, she plays places that are bigger than she is here
rather than build on the audience she has here, at the right size venue, she keeps skipping DC, presumably to wait until this market catches up with everyone else
trouble is, as she gets bigger here, she gets bigger everywhere else and then the whole problem moves up in scale
I think she would solve this problem by playing here & working the market, but it's not up to me

But there's a market for her in Atlanta? And Detroit?

A GA PIT ticket for this show at MSG (at face value of course) has just become available, PM me if you're interested.

Somebody has grabbed it. Thanks.

Well I went to the Detroit show last night. One of the best shows of my life. Very emotional, strong vocal performance from Bjork. M.I.A. was the SHIT! She blew it up rightly...a lot of love was shown.
I got a copy of the setlist, and scanned it in for you guys.
