Are you bringing your swimming trunks?

The Chair (silverchair) @ 9:30 Club on Tuesday. Looking forward to this one.
-
It really amused me that you shortened the band's name only to retype it immediately afterwards so people weren't confused.

friday: pelican/earth @ ottobar

Marnie Stern only has one opener? So does this mean a rnr hotel show will be over at a reasonable hour for a change?
-
What's the best guess for when the Ponys will start tonight? I may get caught up at a work function before hand, and I want to make sure I miss as little as possible.

Everyone I have talked to says Jay Reatard is not to be missed.
-
Yeah, I don't want to miss anything, but unfortunately I got a bit slammed today.

I thought the Teeth played a little too long, but still found them enjoyable. I adore Page France so I didn't mind that length. I thought they were not as good as when i saw them on the Backstage in December. The singer needs to remain a little more faithful to the melodies as they were recorded for their sound to really work, i think. Bishop Allen was really great, the new record is fantastic.

I hope you weren't late. They came on pretty early.

count me out for marnie stern... i'm going shopping for some birthday threads instead.
but if anyone is in annapolis tomorrow or thursday night, hit me up... i'll be out celebrating both nights :)
-
I'm still on the fence.
I have no reason not to go but the germantown>NE dc trip is such a bitch.
Maybe I'll skip tonight and do one of those velvet lounge shows instead. Wooly Mammoth on friday is sounding tempting.
-
Yep laziness just won out.
-
Forum party of one :(
-
dude, we should totally carpool sometime!
Germantown is right next to me!

Meh. Wanted to check that out. Plus I will be in NYC. But damned if I miss Rage & Wu-Tang. Plus The Roots & several others. Be there both nights. If anyone wants to get up for drinks, get at me . . .

My post-week wrap up:
Unfortunately, I made it as early as I could to the Black Cat on Monday, but still managed to miss Reatard's 20 minute set. GGW and BookerT (nice to meet you finally) both had great things to say, so hopefully I can catch him the next time around. The Ponys were solid, even strong at points, but some sound & equipment issues kept it from being outstanding. When they were on, though, they sounded great, and I was glad to see they kept the vocals as reverbe'd live as they do on record (first time seeing them, so wasn't sure what to expect).
Marnie Stern SLAYED last night! Again, wasn't sure what to expect, since I skipped her iPod tour earlier in the year, but I'm glad I did: the full band really brought each and every song. It was really something to watch all three of them; fingers were moving at light speed, and Zach Hill is pretty much a blur behind the kit. Everyone seemed pretty into it too, although it wasn't enough for some douche who, about 3/4's of the way through decided to push through the small crowd, spilling beer on me, and then standing there pouting when no one was into it. He kindly shouted "Sorry DC isn't into getting CRAZY" to the band, who just sort of stood looking at him with indifference. My apologies if said douche posts here, but seriously, cool out next time. This isn't NYC, you know
Oh, and I almost forgot, I think I stood next to the Director's Sister, or at the very least, his identical female twin: black chick, about this height, wearing shades inside and rocking out. She wasn't double-fisting beers, but still, you should check her out...she's perfect for you!

I don't discriminate, fam. My favorite color is pink. ;) If she was sexy & at a bare minimum somewhat intelligent, she too may sign for that magical ride up Space Mountain.
