Title: Favorite Seinfeld Episode?
Post by: K8teebug on January 20, 2005, 03:01:00 pm
The question about Elaine's boyfriend putty on another post inspired me...that and my total boredom at work today....

Mine:  Soup Nazi, when they're lost in the parking garage, and the Bet

Curb Your Enthusiasm is good too...just got the 3rd season on dvd.  I can finally see that damn crazy eyes episode everyone keeps asking me if I saw....and to that I reply..

"I DON'T HAVE CABLE!"  Why doesn't anyone ever remember that when you tell them?

Let's see, same creator, with nine years experience of running a great show, he takes his next show to cable where he can get away with more.

It's fair to say that there would be no Curb your Enthusiasm without Seinfeld.

You probably like Interpol more than Joy Division too.

Rental car agent: Next please.

Agent: Can I help you? Name please?

Jerry: Seinfeld. I made a reservation for a mid-size, and she's a small. I'm kidding around, of course.

 Agent: Okay, let's see here.

 ...

Agent: I'm sorry, we have no mid-size available at the moment.

Jerry: I don't understand, I made a reservation, do you have my reservation?

Agent: Yes, we do, unfortunately we ran out of cars.

Jerry: But the reservation keeps the car here. That's why you have the reservation.

Agent: I know why we have reservations.

Jerry: I don't think you do. If you did, I'd have a car. See, you know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation and that's really the most important part of the reservation, the holding. Anybody can just take them.

Agent: Let me, uh, speak with my supervisor.

The agent goes into an office with a window in the door so she can be seen speaking with someone.

Jerry: Uh, here we go. The supervisor. You know what she's saying over there?

 Elaine: What?

Jerry: Hey Marge, you see those two people over there? They think I'm talking to you, so you pretend like you're talking to me, okay now you start talking.

Elaine: Oh, you mean like this? So it looks like I'm saying something but I'm not really saying anything at all?

Jerry: Now you say something else and they won't yell at me 'cause they thought I was checking with you.

Elaine: Okay, that's it. I think that's enough, see you later.

 The agent returns.

Agent: I'm sorry, my supervisor says there's nothing we can do.

Jerry: Yeah, it looked as if you were in a real conversation over there.

Agent: But we do have a compact if you would like that.

 Jerry: Fine.

Agent: Alright. We have a blue Ford Escort for you Mr. Seinfeld. Would you like insurance?

Jerry: Yeah, you better give me the insurance, because I am gonna beat the hell out of this car.

 Agent: Please fill this out.

Wow, I will try to keep it to three....
The airport episode.  Kramer and George are trying to pick up Elaine and Jerry, meanwhile Jerry is in 1st class while Elaine is in coach hell.
I also love the one where the whole episode takes place in the restaurant.  They all dared Elaine to walk over to that one gentleman and take a bite out of his plate.
Curb Your Enthusiasm is great, and yet hard to watch, because you know what will probably happen, and it's just do damn awkward.  Like the Milato baby....

CYE is undeniably funny... but for me at least, "Seinfeld" felt like it could be my life.  I think of myself as an unpleasant combination of George, Jerry, and Kramer.

I dunno about favorite episodes, but there are quite a few funny lines. In fact, at a show last week, I referred to the episode w/ Elaine, Jerry and the Pez figure. This was brought up after I broke out a cough drop, and seemed to make some noise opening it. So, while in an effort to control the noise, a friend and I busted out laughing during a quiet portion of the show.
Another favorite line - when Elaine is going off to jail:
 Elaine: "Hey Putty?"
 Putty: "Yeah?"
 Elaine: "Don't wait for me."
 Putty: <slight pause> "Okay". <walks away>
The look on his face is truly classic.

And I hate that Chinese restaurant episode, it's annoying. But I think that was its intention.

I was just telling someone about the "mutton" episode where Jerry stuffs his carnivorous girfriend's meat in his coat pocket (in her nana's napkins) and Elaine ends up taking off with the coat and has to dodge a pack of wild dogs on her way home!!

The backwards episode.  It is brilliant that they worked it out so that it works beautifully backwards to the point where Jerry is moving in.

That's interesting that you say that. My other half says that he thinks of himself as a Larry David.  He says that now, although two years ago he was claiming The Dude from "The Big Lebowski..."

On what basis do you make that remark.  Without reasons such a statement can only be viewed as a troll.

My opinion is not fact. Its just how I've always felt about the show. I understand the humor, I just thinks its not funny. This is coming from the same guy that did't like (you might want to sit down for this) Friends, and if you think I'm still a troll for having an opinion then so be it.

Yeah, remember Friends cast wanted to appear on Seinfeld? Seinfeld cast basically said they'd eat 'em up and spit 'em out.

I think Seinfeld and Friends are great in their own ways. I think Friends has more moments where you just laugh out loud not expecting it. Seinfeld is more chuckle kind of funny. I find myself though watching Seinfeld alot more. Maybe it's just more convenient since it comes on at 7:30 pm on FOX. Plus I need a break after trying to watch two episodes of The Simpsons.

I heard that Larry David and Seinfeld said the only way they would do the crossover is if they could kill Ross in the process.

Seinfeld was shite, so was Friends for that matter. There's a new one out over here called "Huff" that's good. "Desperate Wives" is also out but shite as well. On the Brit side, "Celebrity Big Brother" has got to be the biggest pile of feces on television today, and it's on all the fucking time!!! Thank God it's over as of last night, and Bez from The Happy Mondays won, so you know how far down the barrel they had to go to find "celebrities"...on the subject of the Happy Mondays and has-been celebs, did I ever tell you the time I threatened to kick Shaun Ryders arse for making too much noise outside my mums house? Had I known it was him at the time I would've said, "Hey, I can't dance either, can I be in your band like Bez"

All I can say is thank god for Coronation Street, Emmerdale Farm and Match of the Day or I wouldn't bother having a telly in our house.
