Nike announced that they are going to hold back new merchandise bearing the Vick name and logo. Previously released gear will remain in stores and will not be replenished. These appropriate actions were taken after Michael Vick was indicted earlier this week. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 26.
Sources to the case have speculated that he was not going to be named to the accusations but further evidence has prompted his indictment. He is the owner of the house where these heinous crimes have taken place but he was also present at the Pit-bull fights. One particular video is said to show Vick beating and killing a dog that lost its match.
My opinion, what a show. This is not good for the NFL and I really never bought into the hype of the quarterback. He was as good a quarterback as Shaq is at shooting free-throws (hurting).

If you act now you can still get the official Michael Vick slippers...

Stop it. LOL

why do people think he's so great? i've even heard people say he was becoming a legend of his time on the field until this, but you say he's like the shaq of free throws?
i wonder if his gear will soon become collector's items worth money because of the free, twisted country we live in. god bless chicken nuggets with that yummy mustard sauce from mcdonalds.

dude is a scumbag, plain and simple.

Has anybody received a FexEx from Lonny Baxter?

When he came into the league seven years ago (from VA Tech) he was seen as sort of "the ultimate weapon" quarterback. Extremely good runner, strong arm, etc. He never really learned to read defenses, in my opinion. Sort of like Randall Cunningham. He just learned to scramble a bit then make some incredible play with his arm or feet. He's sort of regressed. He's a worse quarterback than he was four years ago.
The NFL is in a Catch-22 situation. They can't really suspend him without a conviction and the case may drag on past this season. However, they have one of their most high profile athletes absolutely HATED by a large percentage of the American public. People who don't follow football AT ALL now know that one of the "stars" in the NFL killed, electrocuted and tortured defenseless dogs. From a business sense, in terms of perception, I think the NFL should ban him for life. This is far worse than what Pete Rose did.
Brian
P.S. I don't think Michael Vick is the only star athlete who is involved in dog fighting. I think others may be discovered.
-
i think he should go to jail for a very long time.
i know he wont, but if he did this, its pretty fucked up. i mean really fucked up.
its not just dog fighting, they torture these dogs and kill them. tying down female dogs to be raped? filing down teeth on "bait dogs" so the fighters can practice killing??
dude, Hitler would probably be disgusted if he saw that shit, and if Vick is involved he BETTER never play football in America again.

didnt they kick pacman jones from the league? he was never convicted of anything, but he was making the league look bad because of the various incidents he was tied into (ie: the strip club shooting.)
and i think you're right about vick not being the only one. clinton portis was defending vick pretty vehemently, saying that in mississppi, dogfights are everywhere, and that vick did nothing wrong. is this fucking clown for real? fuck clinton portis and fuck the redskins.
-
I think you guys are racist. If Vick was white, you wouldn't be dogging him like this.
-
fuck the whole NFL.
the whole league is a pathetic joke.

very punny!

Why can't they just turn the dogs on them? Now that's manks kind of justice.

i'm surprised nobody has blamed dmx for all this.

i believe pacman was suspended for the season. . .pending him not getting into trouble.

Pacman was suspended, but they haven't suspended Vick b/c the Falcons got rid of their backup quarterback, so they're bitching to the NFL about suspending him before the courts rule.
I wish the fans of the Falcons would refuse to attend games until he's suspended, but we all know that won't happen.

i was telling my fiance this just last night. it would take one empty game at the Georgia Dome for Vick to be out the door.
obviously wont ever happen cause y'all 'mericans can't deal without yer football.

are you saying that joey harrington is not a competent quarterback?!?!?!?
-
leonard little, defensive end for the rams, was driving drunk and killed a woman back in the late '90s. he got suspended for 8 games.
i know goodell is trying to take a tough stance, but the nfl has set the bar pretty low when it comes to off-field discretions.
-
I'll make a bold prediction that you won't see Vick take another snap at QB in a regular season game again. Except maybe as a Raider someday.

As someone who grew up near VT and found the creaming over Vick nauseating, I'm getting some satisfaction over this falling from grace.

I was a student at Tech during his brief stay in Balcksburg. We didn't mind him, since we were able to scalp our student tickets and use the money to buy beer while we watched the games at home.

At least with FOOTBALL you have to do more than run up and down a big field and kick a round ball unlike professional klickball (soccer HA) that is oft referred to as football. That crap rates right below golf and darts on the excitement scale! GAWD what a lame "sport" that is!

A little revisionist history there. He hasn't been convicted since he joined the NFL, but he was convicted after a bar fight while at West Virginia. One of the problems the NFL is facing with him is that he's still on probabtion from that because he keeps getting in trouble. That was a 2003 arrest and his probation was only supposed to last 2 years. These constant arrests extend his probabtion and make any possible sentence really long.

Obviously you've only seen the MLS you moron.
American Football statistics
60 minutes long
2.75 hours average to complete
3.26 minutes of actual action
No wonder they have cheerleaders, provides something entertaining to watch while the game is on.

I was just going to let him pick his fight with a Canadain who I don't think cares for either brand of football, but to each her own.
-
I just can't believe that, by comparison, Marcus Vick is now "the good one."

A couple of more things to add to this pitiful story. Mr and Mrs. Vick, no more gifts for Fathers/Mothers Day for you. You went 0-2 with two kids. A bunch of real winners.
Also, this is not the first incident this year for Michael Vick. This was on SNL earlier this year.

If Vick plays, I will not watch the NFL or support it in any way. I think that the Falcons need to put him on a leave of absence. If not, the Falcons organization are saying, "We are going to sacrifice our integrity for the win".

on a similar tip, in case anyone's interested, taking action for animals (http://www.takingactionforanimals.com/) conference is in dc next weekend. registration is FREE if you volunteer (http://www.takingactionforanimals.com/volunteer-opportunities.html) four hours.

A new classic. Even this straight-edger finds it hilarious.
