Title: Coldplay Roll Call
Post by: you be betty on February 27, 2006, 05:47:00 pm
Okay...I know I'm a few days early, but we needed something else to talk (argue) about.  So who else is coming Thursday?

I have no hate for Coldplay.  Sure, they sound like a band that mom's listen too when they want to seem cool, but there's nothing terrible about them.

But this quote makes them sound SOOOOOO lame: "with the British quartet said to stipulate that any member who uses coke automatically gets the boot."

Have a good time at the show.  I've seen them twice  and both times the shows were excellent.  I just really, really don't like the last album.  But Parachutes will remain one of my all time favorites.

I think Parachutes and Rush of Blood....are fantastic albums. When they came out I was enamored with them. I saw them at Baltimore 3 years ago and it was one of the better shows Ive seen. Cant knock their abilities as musicians. Theyre not lacking there at all.

Then their last album came out and to quote a good friend of mine and die-hard Coldplay fan after listening to the last album all the way through, "Well that's that."

The rest is the seemingly inevitable downward turn. Instead of the shoe-gazing band of old, Chris is dancing around like a drunk monkey on stage. (good lord that makes me uncomfortable) pyrotechnics. stage gimmicks. the band now wears matching outfits on stage. yellow balls fall from the sky during 'yellow'. Overnight they became an instant parody of themselves. Sad.

Shoegazing? When did Coldplay ever play Shoegaze music?

I agree with everything else you said though.

i agree, too.  not a huge fan of the new album, but man...A Rush Of Blood To The Head, which is really my favorite of the three...WHAT an incredible album.  so, yeah.  i'm still going to see them, because they do play a lot of the older songs.  and it's still worth it, for me, to hear those ones live.

and you can lighten up, too--i was quoting a movie (at least the second half of my response   :)   )
