Title: Hell on Earth
Post by: on November 30, 2004, 03:05:00 pm
If you worked in a factory and they had background music constantly blaring from loudspeakers during your shift...what would you choose if you had to pick from one of the choices below?

Country: Not alt, but the stuff they play on CMT.

R&B: Not classic R&B, but the stuff that's pushed on current Billboard playlists.

Smooth Jazz: No Charlie Parker/Brubek here, just lotsa Kenny G. and others in a similar Tesh vein.

Talk Radio: The conservative right hard-stuff only.  Plenty o'Hannity & Rush.

Country. I'd choose "listen to nothing" over that, if I could, though.

Smooth jazz because there are no words.  If I hear conversation or songs with lyrics I try to listen to the words and it is distracting.  No words, it becomes background noise.

i thought this was gonna be a mobb deep thread.

 nah, i figured it wasn't.

i'd probably choose the conservative talk radio...for the laughs.

I guess I should add another category:

Adult Contemporary:  Heavy on the Phil Collins, James Ingram, Bonnie Tyler...and "Unchained Melody" played at least once every four hours.

Ok, before the last choice I was gonna pick Country and probably kill myself. But you saved me with the last choice of Adult Contemporary. It's not the best choice in the world, but for this topic.....It is.

Mucho songs from modern Disney cartoons headed your way.  I always knew you had a vagina and were between the ages 18-34!

being the good factory worker that i would be, i would bring in the requsite shot gun (12 gauge over and under of course) and have sufficient shells available to take out all of the speakers.  then i would be promptly voted in as new union president at a quickly organized special meeting.

I'll be 35 in less than two days, after that you won't be able to put me in that catagory anymore.

You forgot about Christmas hits, all year round.....

If the person was particularly bad, maybe christmas hits in a jazzy style with over the type Mariah Carey/Celine Dion vocals.....

I might explode if I am forced to go anywhere near pottery barn.

I think I'm gonna dissent and say the R & B...some of it has a decent groove, and of all the choices offered it's the least whitebread milktoast of them all...even in its wannabe, Justin Timberlake thinking he's cool moments.

I've had jobs and situations where I was forced to endure both the smooth jazz and contempory r&b stations for inhumanly long periods of time.  No country though, thank you Jeezus.  I'd definately pick the talk radio.

i must say jazz.  i would prefer elevator music.

i would just dance offensivly to the other types of music and offend one of the many black workers.  christmas songs would be cool because they may be used to fuck with none christians.  i know most of the words to jingle bell rock...

That's what I did.  In the end I decided that factory work just wasn't for me.
