Does anyone know why they canceled their upcoming shows this weekend (at Sonar on Saturday and the Birchmere on Sunday)? I guess they canceled their whole June tour. Having already seen the Magic Numbers twice in the DC area and at Coachella, this one was going to be a "day-of" decision for me. I hope the cancellation wasn't due to slow ticket sales!

According to Banhart's publicist, the decision was made two days ago when the [four] Magic Numbers, now recording in New York, decided they were behind schedule with the follow-up to their self-titled debut of blasé power pop jingles, released last year on Capitol Records (magic number: July 5).

for those of you in need a devendra fix, you should go to the warehouse on sunday, july 16, to see vetiver. banhart released their album on gnomonsong and frequently plays with them, though word is that he will not be on this tour.

what the fuck is with these bands basically just cancelling on a whim? it has gotten pretty annoying.

Thanks for the info. I understand when an act has to reschedule or cancel due to family emergency or medical issue (Snow Patrol, the Subways, Hard-FI, Athlete). But just because they are off schedule in recording, doesn't seem like a good reason to cancel shows. It's a disservice to fans as well as Devendra.

I heard Birchmere was unable to fulfill the junk food rider that the Magic Numbers were requiring.
