I signed up for it at work, but I didn't download anything.  I'll get everything in working order at home.  That's where the music is anyway.

It's cool and free.  And it also offers RSS feeds, so if you have a blog or a website you could set up your own page so it automatically updated with your tunes list from Last.fm.   I'm eventually going to do that on Doomlink (http://www.alex.to/doomlink).

As a casual ipod -less observer I'd say that bearman has the best list so far.  But only because of The Dead Milkmen.  All of bearman's other songs, as well as all of the songs on everybody elses' lists are mucho sucko.

I had to rebuild my computer about a month ago, and I usually just put iTunes on shuffle, so all I've got is a couple hundred songs with a play count of 1.

yeah, i listen on shuffle most of the time, so i can't play. but five lucky songs out my 7,000 have received the most plays:

she belongs to me - bob dylan
 technique street - the homosexuals
 neutron lover - the homosexuals
 perfume-v - pavement
 reuters - wire

but that's probably just because those albums were some of the first i put on.

I thought I preferred new and current music, but in the end it's mostly just classic rock. It happens when you get old.

Isn't Devo punk? Yes, The Weirdos are an early LA punk band.  They sang "We Got The Neutron Bomb" and "Helium Bar."  The former, a great song.  The latter, not so great.

Devo best fits in the New Wave category.

Not that I think bands should be put entirely into certain genres, but I'd classify stuff like the Ramones, Sex Pistols, the Damned, Buzzcocks, early Clash as punk, mostly because of the tempo of a lot of the music. Talking Heads, Blondie, Devo, etc. were what I would consider new wave, though in the 80's I remember kids calling everything from early INXS to New Order to later Husker Du new wave. Music became more poppy, more fun, more danceable.
