Black Flag.
Other than the song from Repo Man, I couldn't listen very long to their stuff. I resold both CDs I bought. I gave them a fair shake, but they just didn't snap my elastic.

I bet that I could change your opinion going to one show.
It's not a whole lot different than a DBT gig; just tweak the genre a bit.

Would more like to know why and what have you heard from some of these you don't like. Sometimes you get the wrong album and hate a band for quite a while until you hear that one song that does work.
For me:
Mars Volta - The singing, can not get over that singing.
Dispatch - Saw them live and they couldn't play. It was sad.
-
Well I know the singing on Wilco's A.M. turned me off the band from the get go... From what little I've heard of CYHSY it's the singing as well..
-
I like every band listed in this thread.

OK, truth be told, I don't really care much for System of a Down or Dispatch, and I've never heard Melt Banana.

Haha. If you would have added Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins and Artic Monkeys, those would be the five CDs in CD changer at this very moment.

Fugazi I get. But Iron and Wine? I thought you'd love him. How about Calexico? Are you a fan?
And, cough choke, Elvis? Really? What's not to love? Melodies, lyrics, attitude (early), longevity, he's got it all!

Okay, some that I like that others do not:
Flaming Lips: Check out Transmissions from the Satillite Heart, it is amazing. Check out the layering of instruments, and all the fun things going on. Fav song, Pilot can from the queer of god. Check out the dense guitars and all the fun stuff they are doing, it is amazing.
Bloc Party. I hate this cd. It is poorly mixed in my opinion. The material it has underneigth is amazing. They are a great band, but they were wimps and got someone to mix their album to where it sounds so annoyingly compressed that I despise the record. If you are willing to listen to the songs and not the stupid overcompressed mix it is a great album. It took me several listens to figure this out.
There are others that I can also talk about but these two came to the top of the list.
ps. I have seen over 1000 bands live (IIRC).

BITE YOUR TONGUE, MORTAL.
Maiden rules all others. Maiden doesn't ask, Maiden takes. All must bow down to the mighty Iron Maiden and be grateful for it.

He's not indie, but I never could fiqure out why people like Jimmy Buffet.
I guess I had left my TV on VH1 Friday Night. When I woke Saturday, I had 30 mins of The Top 20 on TIVO. On a whim I wathced it on FF. So I'll throw, Train, Staind, Natasha Beddington(?) and James Blunt on this list as they seem to be popular at the moment.

amen, although it meant a lot more to me when i was a senior in high school than it does now
-
Radiohead: music for the perpetually adolescent and their fans are worse than Phish fans
-
I feel like most of the bands that I don't like even though a lot of people like I understand because we have different tastes in music. Among my friends who have similar tastes to myself, though, there are a couple of bands that I just don't understand how they like them.
Broken Social Scene
Radiohead
To a lesser extent:
CYHSY
Stars
the walkmen
Although there are probably a lot more bands that I like that I can't convince them are awesome.
