So has anyone checked out The Latvian Folk Music Collection? It's a pretty great starting place for anyone interested in the localized song traditions of this again-independent Baltic republic.
If I were you, I would definitely check out "Perkonitis," by the Dancu Muzikas Grupa, the lead off track on Danco Dievis. It showcases a youthful vitality that makes clear these Latvians like to dance.

I liked their early stuff, but, I dunno, their sound seems to have changed and become more "mainstream" the more popular they've gotten. I don't want to say "sell-outs', but, if the shoe fits....
