Anyone else going to the Neil Young shows?
I just scored good orchestra seats on TicketMaster.

I'll be there on Friday thanks to the kind actions of a boardie. I've been trying to see him for 10+ years. The HORDE tour show I was going to see was canceled and then I had surgery and missed him in Va Beach in 00 or 01.
Set list for this tour have included plenty of old tunes..but no powederfinger.

yup, will be there tonight
-
I've seen him maybe three times, but I don't think my small bladder would allow me to see him this time.
I bet his wife's opening set is excruciatingly bad.
-
worse than patti singing "town called heartbreak" monday at the springsteen show? god, i hope not.
first time i'm seeing neil indoors. looking forward to the show tonight!

switch "three" with "eight" and thats me

what time do we think neil will hit the stage?
7.30 doors?
8.00 pegi young?
9.00 neil?
with the rugrats limiting how much I get out these days I want to maximize the drinking I can do before the show :p

Does anyone have a review from last night? I'll be running solo at this so if any boardies want to meet up prior to that would be cool. I am planning to skip the opening acts.

I'd go but it's WAY TOO expensive!!

i'm terrible at reviews, but here are a few thoughts:
setlists (http://www.sugarmtn.org/years/07nysets.html) differ very little on this tour. you know almost everything you'll hear, even the order in which it's played. songs are even announced via paintings in the second set.
first set is acoustic, just neil w/ guitar, harmonica, piano, and/or banjo. he's playing a wide variety of old stuff. "try" made its debut. after he got up from the piano he said something like, "i forgot a verse. i got it right in the dressing room. but that's okay, you don't know that one."
second set is with the band, and they're playing old & new. "no hidden path" off of the new album was CRAZY good; they totally rocked out. it felt bizzare with the crowd sitting until the end of "no hidden path". most stood and danced for the encore.
we headed to our seats early in pegi's set, and were made to wait in the lobby til the song finished. seems they did the same for neil's acoustic set.
it was a very good show. neil was charming and witty. someone shouted out a request, "old man!" neil: "hey, what did you call me?"
he's one of my faves. i've seen him a bunch of times prior, but i think that was the first i've heard him acoustic. if i had my way, i'd take him home with me so he could sing me to sleep every night :)
have fun tonight!!

Were you allowed to leave your seat and come back?
-
yes. i believe that during the acoustic sets they make you wait until the end of the song playing, but you are allowed back in.
-
What time did Neil go on?
-
they only let people in during applause/song breaks and intermission. ny did an acoustic set about 8:30p. electric 9:45p. ended at 11p. friday went longer. ok show. electric set was the best. ny can still rock.
