We're planning on getting a dog later in the year, and have a good idea what we will name it, regardless of gender.
So I'm not looking to steal any pet names, just curious what your is. And what type/breed is it?
-
I have a little beagle mutt; her mother was a pure-bred, but I have no clue what the other half is. We named her Tallulah, which we thought was super original until we ran into two other dogs in our neighborhood with the same name.
Are you still considering getting a labradoodle?
-
Yes, though the rock star name that I mentioned to you before has dropped a little bit on the name charts.

I also have a dog.
He's a St. Bernard.

i have a pug named lucy

I have/had a Cairn Terrier named Jack. He's a asshole. Also, I don't really care that his name is uncreative, except at the dog park.
-
Had? Did you get rid of the little guy? He was crazy funny the one time I saw him.

I didn't get rid of him so much as .. my folks have him and I have some custody when I can get him. Our family dog died early last year and there was a a bit of a void in their house. So when I got involved with roller derby, I wasn't able to give Jack the attention he deserved and my folks were eager to take him in. I miss the shit out of him though - he was pretty crazy funny always.

3 year old basset hound named charlie

there are four cats in my family. one, which i adopted from a local org i had volunteered for, and three strays:
sam - gray shorthair; found him behind the condos near the retention pond in 2002
inka dinka do - black & white shorthair feral rescued as a kitten, still skittish as hell; org i was w/ was going through an ugly "divorce," and everyone was ready to give up on him
half-tail - orange & white short/med hair; came to the back patio bloody & scrounging for food; he wasn't neutered, and the vet doesn't think he'd ever had a home (half-tail is a bit of a misnomer as he really only has a third of a tail)
maddy - brown tabby med/longhair. the only female. wayyyy too needy
unfortunately, none live with me right now (roommate's leather couches are far too precious!), but the plan is that i'll take half-tail once i move.

2 cats, both black and white
cat 1- female named Cooper. got her as a kitten from a cat my mom took in. will turn 4 in July.
cat 2- male named Winky. has one eye (we didn't name him) and got him from a rescue organization. will turn 2 in June.
originally had Cooper's brother, but we had to put him down when he came down with feline leukemia; his name was Monty.

I call my pet "wife"
-
cat, simon, javanese. he's 13, came with the wife, and has appeared on stuffonmycat.com
-
my cat, a gray and white shorthair, had a breathing impediment due to scarring of upper respiratory system. when she got excited, it sounded like she was snoring. it would freak out some people to have such a loud grumbling noise come from such a small animal. her name was La Wheeze - she came with that name. someone rescued her off the street, she knew that she owed her survival to humans and acted accordingly. pure love, she was the bestest cat ever for so many reasons - including the fact that at night, she'd demand to be let under the blanket and would curl up in a ball at the foot of the bed. you cannot underestimate the value of a foot-warmer like her in the middle of a canadian winter.
-
One cat, named Rudy.
-
Pelusa QEPD (1992-2005)
-
Current cats: Mary, Bob and Coco
Recently departed: Kevin, Frodo
We're a cat family. I'm quite sure we'll be taking in a couple more, especially as Mary is 18 years old and appears close to ready to depart this mortal coil. Frodo and Kevin were both 15+ y.o. and they were both huge losses.

Most common dog names I've come across now that I walk a dog, in descending order:
- Max
- Jack
- Murphy (which was #1 on my list originally, for Chris Murphy of course. Sloan was on there too)
- Abby
- Bailey
Mine is a poodle/terrier mix I named Finnegan. Finn for short, though I'm pretty sure people in the neighborhood think his name is "Vinny" since I'm always calling him Finny while out walking.
"Finn" is a good, short name you can shout and get attention in a pinch/emergency/bad behavior moment (though those are far and few between with Finny!).
And, there's a labradoodle puppy in the building next door -- oh my gosh what a beautiful, peppy, friendly dog!!! [I adopted so couldn't be too specific about breed; would have gotten a Glen of Imaal Terrier, maybe a Westie.]
-
I have a cat named Nico.
-
We recently got a soft coated wheaten terrier and my wife named her "Rosie" I wanted "Molly" but was voted down by wife and son.
I had an australian shepherd until he died at age 18 his name was "Luke". His companion who was a border collie and died from cancer age 16, but had one of her legs amputated at age 15 due to the cancer. Her name was Gipsy, but after the amputation her nickname became "tripod"
I won a goldfish at the Montgomery country fair and called it Morrissey...that bugger lived for a good 7 years.
-
Kensey is a Jack Russell/Poodle mix. What a terror she is.
And Pelé is a 50 pound who knows what, my guess is terrier/shepherd but she's about the cutest and sweetest creature on earth.
-
I have (all rescues):
Truman (18 lb Russian Blue, turns 11 on the 1st)
Bailey (11 lb Persian/Norwegian Forest Cat mix)
Bathsheba (7 lb feral tabby)
Eleanor (7 lb Russian Blue, I've had her since she was 5 weeks old)
Nicolas (15 lb Russian Blue with the face of a Korat mix, former feral)
Furball (9 lb Black Longhair feral)
So yes, I have a President, a Queen, and a Czar. And a President's Wife. Not bad.
(and for the record, Eleanor was named after the song Eleanor, not the car in the movie.)
oh: My fish is Isobel (my tanks get named after hurricanes that I've either been through, they've been through, or have been retired) and Hoover.
-
Two cats
Nisse (A Scandinavian House Sprite)
Reni (Name after the Stone Roses drummer)
-
1 grey short-haired cat named Slater (named after the pro surfer, not the "curly-haired Conan" from Saved By The Bell)

My lhasa apso/shih tzu mix is named Bosco. Got him from a rescue group that had named him "Wuffles," which I thought was ipso facto cruel.
I've always been jealous of my friend John's naming abilities for cats. He currently has Fatty and Cthulu. Meat-tube came before them. He's saving the name Evangelion for a cat that either comes in a giant metal suit or makes him feel very, very sad.
