Title: Hockey world champions.......
Post by: Frank Gallagher on June 07, 2006, 02:14:00 am
...who won the Stanley Cup?

Or aren't we allowed to call them world champions seeing as teams from a country other than doodleville compete in it?

I heard on the radio this morning that game 1 of the women's college softball championship series had more viewers than game 1 of the Stanley Cup.

Only 611,000 viewers for the hockey game.  Pretty sad numbers.

Well, since there are players in the league that come from all over the world, we'll continue to call them the world champions if we want to.

no one even answered Mankie's question!!!

Carolina and Edmonton are still playing for the cup.

Carolina leads 1-0 with game 2 tonight.

and Edmonton is in Canada NOT doodleville  ;)

I agree that the NHL should trash teams like Atlanta, Pittsburgh and Florida and make a "European Division" with a team from Sweden, Russia, Finland and Czech.

problem is travel, pure and simple...i think.

good to see the mank still cares

 go oilers!

and anyway, 611,000 viewers in AMERICA.  i bet the NHL had more than the softball globally (or at least north american wise)

and I dont even get OLN.  and neither does anyone who has dish network and doesnt get the freakin 180 channel package.  so that could hurt ratings too.

You are correct....3,033,000 viewers in Canada alone, but I wonder what these numbers would have been if there was no canadian team in the series.

Hockey has nobody to blame but themselves for no national network TV deal in the states and poor ratings.

Carobloodylina!!!???? Are they still having problems getting bums on seats in their own stadium? No wonder doodles don't give a toss if the Redwings bandwagon isn't rolling along.

Go Oilers....if it's not the Caps, then it's any canuck team in my book.
