Mine was We Are Scientists...plain boring, uninspired, tedious, you name it.
-
The one I enjoyed the least was probably the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. It was OK, but nothing special.
-
Hard-Fi
Absolutely terrible.
-
i agree with We Are Scientists. just not much there.
the Stills were pretty "still" as well.
although, i did attend the Black Eyed Peas concert......
-
Rob Thomas last night or H.I.M. at the 9:30 last fall.
-
My first concert will be in a couple of weeks, so it will be the best and worst show of the year so far.

yikes! i hope you were contractually obligated to appear (are you natasha bedingfield?!)
i like how the 930 email list couldn't even give a wholehearted endorsement of matchbox 20 man

Animal Collective @ the Black Cat - 3/23/06
the WORST show that i've been to in awhile. great studio band, absolutely horrific live
-
Defintely Belle and Sebastian in NYC. What a boring show. But NYC was cool. Oh wait. New Pornographers opened, and they were much, much worse.
Best show I've been to this year: Neko Case, with Dwight Yoakam coming in second.
-
I left Pearl Jam underwhelmed, but it wasn't a bad show at all. I guess that counts?
-
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! @ 930 was more like Crap Your Hands Say Yeah.
A 45 minute set of just horribleness.
-
The Clappers show at The 9:30 was kind of a letdown after seeing them the previous Fall at the BC and 8x10.
I also was expecting much more from The Go! Team when I saw them at the BC. They needed more brass and muscle behind their songs.
Also, I love Evan Dando and understand that he's hit or miss live...but he missed at the BC earlier this year.
For me, this year's big winners have been:
- The B&S shows at the 9:30
- Art Brut at the BC
-
- The Lashes at SxSW
- Georgie James at Black Cat -- which wasn't even a bad show, just the worst I've seen. I've been to fewer shows this year, less 'testing bands out at their show', so that may be why I haven't been to a bad show this year.
I'm a little over Metric, but that's 'cuz I've seen them so often. And Yeah Yeah Yeahs was just so so.
-
of montreal and their white rap openers
-
Coldplay, and only because they play ridiculously short sets.

now it's all coming back to be... the lashes "single" popped up on a couple comps and i thought it was a decent catchy song. got their cd via La La and quickly discovered they are a one hit wonder at best and have already traded it away...
-
Definitely the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
-
best show i've seen so far is definetly the lifetime show at the court tavern in jersey.
right up there is the B&S show at 930.
worst show? having to sit through circa survive 2 nights in a row so i could enjoy saves the day.

"You know how when you grow up, and you get suspicious about people from your childhood possibly being lamer than you remembered, but all you needed was some kind of closure or something to wrap it all up and prove that they really were lame? Yâ??know, like that kid who gave you your first beerâ?¦ he was really into Slayer, drove a Camaro, fingerbanged your babysitter, and you thought he was super rad cos he had a mustacheâ?¦ and then 10 years later you saw him bussing tables at a Sizzler.
Well, that band Lifetime is a lot like that. We all kinda got tricked into thinking they were sorta ok way back there somewhere in the 90â??s. Somehow they would always end up on a mix tape some cute chick made you with a bunch of other bands that actually were coolâ?¦ like Jawbreaker and Sunny Day Real Estateâ?¦ and you were smoke-screened of their actual wackness cos they sounded sorta ok in between the good bands, and you couldnâ??t exactly put your finger on what was lame untilâ?¦â?¦ they reform years later, and fuckinâ?? FALLOUT BOY signs them to their record label. Ahhhhâ?¦ thatâ??s riiiiiightâ?¦ Lifetime always sucked. Itâ??s all so clear now.

opps

Franz Ferdinand & Death Cab For Cutie was pretty bad, even though we had awesome seats, my girlfriend hated it, we left early into Death Cab's set.
-
Animal Collective would have to take it. A couple of others were only "ok", but this was a solid thumbs down.

I figured that out when I saw them at the HFSestival a few years ago, they made Dashboard Confessional seem exciting on that day.

I'm guessing you aren't the original author of this rant.

hah, no...i just happened to be reading buddyhead when i read that post.
i don't think lifetime is all that bad, myself.
-
why is it that unless a band is dead, or on the front page of pitchfork, it's unaccpetable around here?
lifetime didn't play fucking HFS.
