Title: Built to Spill in May
Post by: tobyd on March 02, 2005, 03:06:00 pm
This band is amazing live and their new tunes are sounding good.  Fingers are tightly crossed that the club is working on adding dates.
 Thanks,
 T

Good, I'm glad I'm not alone in my concern about 5/15.  Anyway, I just joined and saw no mention in the first five pages - so please chill out.

They're busy working on the logistics of the killing they're going to make on a Backstreet Boys show. Too busy to work on your piddly Build to Spill show.

Actually, Sonickteam2 was serious.  He's what some euphemistically refer to as "slow."

You could post the BTS question in the "Hey Seth" thread and, hopefully, Mr. Hurwitz will let us know something.

The only CD's I have from them are Perfect From Now On and Ancient Melodies of the Future...which other ones are worth getting? And please don't say all of them  :)  I am just curious if there are one or 2 others that represent the best of their stuff.

"There's Nothing Wrong With Love" is my favourite.

its the last great indie effort before they signed to the WB!

most people will probably say "keep it like a secret," which i think is their best. a little less wanky than "perfect from now on" (which is a close second) and just loads better than "ancient melodies." old schoolers might claim that "there's nothing wrong with love is the best." that has some of their best songs, but is pretty one-dimensional. still, it's a good dimension.

the last time i saw BTS, which was at the club during the "ancient melodies" tour was one of the worst shows i've ever been to. and not because i don't like that album, i'm not even sure they played a single song from it. it was basically an allman brothers show.

come on. . that was a funny show.  closing with dream police and freebird. . .and you're right, they didn't play a single song from ancient melodies.

as for which albums to get. . .i'd say nothing wrong with love or perfect from now on.

i will always remember it because the gbv chant from  propellor started playing while BTS was setting up and Doug looked none to pleased, I guess they had chosen music to play, so Propellor was turned off  :(

the show in pittsburgh was awesome on that tour, actually. they played weather and fly around my pretty little miss, but nothing else. of course it was in a venue about 2/3 the size of the black cat...

Dig this version of Untrustable from a live show.  Killer instrumental part on this one.  Still no word on May shows I guess.
 Cheers,
