Who else is going?
I might hit the Sparklehorse pre-show.
-
Yep-- each 3 fest days for me;
Plus STS9 at HoB on Fri;
(I know it's been said before--but bears repeating: It sucks Lolla is same wknd as Virgin!)
-
Yep. All 3 days.
No plans for afterparties as I'm sure the sun/humidity/beer will have had the better of me by the end of each day. My guess is whatever bar we stumble across on the way back to the hotel will be my afterparty.
-
Also, where is everyone staying? I'm not too happy with the reviews of the hotel I'm stayiing at (Best Western Grant Park). $600 for 4 nights ain't bad, though.
-
I'm in for PJ and maybe CYHSY...
-
I'm @ the Embassy Suites - right @ the end of Navy Pier.
Here's my schedule for the week:
Clutch tonite (Mr Smalls in Pittsburgh)
Marah tomorrow (Club Cafe in PGH)
Social Distortion Wed (Greensburg, PA)
Pearl Jam Thurs Vic Theatre Chicago
Lolla Fri - Sun
How much ROCK is too much?!? :D
-
staying at hotel 71. got a sweet deal on the place having booked it months ago.
lolla fri - sun
other shows TBD. mostly hoping to catch up with old friends who no longer live near me after the shows. ill be the redhead almost entirely covered up during the festival. after my severly burnt skin from a few hours outside at siren fest im not even taking any chances of having a burn ruin my weekend.

The Burnham (http://www.burnhamhotel.com). Seems pretty swanky and I got a great deal since I booked back in March.
-
I'm there all 3 days. Staying at the cheap Chinatown hotel that's notoriously a little sketchy.
Anyone here if the Spree has canceled yet? Tim's apparent got throat tumors. If they have in fact canceled, I may just do sight seeing until Friday evening.
I may catch the START at its after party at the Note (on Saturday?)
Can't wait for PJ's closing set.

I'm there Saturday and Sunday, and ditto to eros' response on after parties.
Interestingly, my catching up with friends out there will all be in the mornings -- they're parents now, so an early brunch is th eplan rather than 10:00 meet up at a bar.
I'm staying at the Congress Plaza. Apparently right near the park. A friend stayed there for Lolla last year and thought it worked out fine. $329 for two nights [Sat night is $179 and Sun night is $149].

that looks great...great deal as in how much?

I'll be there all three days, staying at the Palmer House Hilton. No aftershows for me.

$229 Fri-Sat/$199 Sunday. Still a little high, but this seems like a nice splurge. Plus there are 4 of us to split the costs.

the hotel (the smell is a little off, but hey, $80/night) and area is fine, but just make sure you steer clear of that chinese restaurant next door!
-
I'll be staying with xneverwherex at Hotel 71 and will be at the fest all three days. And no plans on afterparties. I really think I'll be too tired to manage it.

i'm in for all three days, and currently have no plans for after-parties... but the post-DP ed banger thingy sounds like fun, i'm tempted.
i'm visiting (and staying with!) my mom while in chicago, so that puts a damper on my after-partying - i want/need to be awake/coherent in the mornings for brunch and doing a few touristy or family things before heading over to grant park in the afternoons. she lives about 15 minutes away on foot (michigan and huron, i think) and definitely can't complain about the price :)
-
see you there, sweetie ;)

current weather forecast for chicago, IL this weekend: possibly thunder storms for both saturday and sunday  hope that doesn't f*ck with the schedule - local laws force them to shut down at 10 pm, regardless of lightening delays. fingers crossed there won't be any postponements/cancellations.
Friday: high 89 low 67
Generous sun? only a few puffy cumulus clouds. Quite warm but with breezes off the lake. A modest humidity reduction. Highs: Low 90s inland, mid 80s lakeshore.
Saturday: high 88 low 72
Sunshine at the open. But, incr. cloudiness, quite warm. Humidities creep higher amid the day's SE winds. T-storms possible p.m. and Saturday night.
Sunday: high 91 low 73
Patches of clouds, possible lingering t-storms. Turning more humid. SE winds back SSW and temps return to the 90s. Heat index: 92-97?.
