first i thought i had seen it all when scoping the line-up at the norva in norfolk, which usually sports the fine music of bands like danzig, to see that the backstreet boys are playing there. now they are playing nine thirty, and i am like . . . is this cool, or is this stupid. i'm not sure, really. for some reason, people who hated theses bands when they were kings of the pop money machine, find them comically cool to go see, now that they are forever has-beens. wierd.

Do you not know what "almost" means. You named five bands, which is less than one percent of all bands ever formed.

These guys are not has-beens. Right up there with the beatles and stones and my book. (http://esp.realcities.com/a/hBCJ12JAPnpi4APtV1IAMzyNJ.APnpi4HJ/gmsv1007)

I disagree about floyd...I mean all the splintering and key members going in and out is pretty sad...kinda like the way every summer theres like 4 groups parading the country selling themselves as the Beach Boys.

or the worst culprit of them all: jimmy buffet.
and sorry i didn't name one thousand bands to please you, rob . . . but i have this sneaky suspicion that nothing ever will suit your needs.

i'm not sure who's worse: buffet, or his fans. god, his fans suck worse than corona tastes. and people think dirty, greatful dead hippies are bad.
for a real treat, try smoking that thing that people call marijawanna at a buffet show and see what happens.

i grew up in florida, it seemed like there was a buffet show every other weekend ... it's a fucked up state, thats all i have to say ...

Backstreet Boy Busted
Nick Carter hit with drunk driving charge in California
MARCH 7--Meet Nick Carter. The Backstreet Boy, 25, was arrested Saturday night on a drunk driving charge. According to Huntington Beach, California cops, the singer was pulled over at about 7:30 PM for a traffic violation and was determined to be drunk during questioning by police. After failing a field sobriety test, Carter was booked into the Huntington Beach City Jail (where the below mug shot was snapped) and released after four hours in custody. Carter was issued a citation and, according to a police spokesman, officers are determining whether to file additional charges against the performer. Carter, best known recently as a Paris Hilton boyfriend of the month, is scheduled to join his Backstreet Boy comrades in New York on March 21 as they kick off the group's first U.S. tour in several years. Hey, gotta give him props for insisting he stay drunk while talking with the cops. "No, I insist -- I am determined to be drunk during interrogation!"

Nice. 7:30 PM is a little early to be arrested for a "star," even of his caliber.
On the bright side, the HB jail is one of the nicest I've visited.

And, his mug shot's pretty good. Won't be fodder for years' worth of visual jokes on the likes of Leno, Letterman or Kimmel, a la Nick Nolte or James Brown.
