What happened to just putting the tickets up for sale. It seems like most of the presale tickets end up on ebay anyways. If the point of a presale is to make tickets available to your ardent fans first then presales don't work. But if your job is to scalp tickets then presales work great!

mmmmhhhhhmmmm, riiiiiiight.

oh! yipee! great! i can't wait to have this conversation again!

I agree -- even when I have access to a pre-sale my luck doesn't seem to be any better getting tickets to shows I *really* want to see.
How much longer before the pre-sales have pre-sales?
-
Pre-sales rule!
-
actually thats already started of sorts... i.e. Garbage Fan club presale, before the club presale...

Pre-sales don't bug me too much, but this I have recently noted. Darn punk'rs.

The thing that bothers me more than anything is that tickets almost always seem to go on sale at 10:00AM during a workday, leaving many of us out of the loop.

don't like em much myself

... and I'm sure it's not too long before the Garbage Fan Club VIP Gold Star Member section will have a presale before the regular fan club gets a chance to buy tickets.
-
presales make you feel special.. kind of like a tattoo... because no one else gets tattoos

Why not a pre-presale for those who really really promise not to put their tickets up on ebay!
Presales make the uber-groovy-indie-"I'm cooler than thee" feel special, so what's the harm? Bless em.

It doesn't matter if their off from pre-sale or when they go on sale to the general public, tickets will end up on ebay. Pre-sale is just a chance for some people who don't have very good luck, or can't be on the exact minute that tickets go on sale, 2 chances to try to get them. Luckily I was able to get pre-sale tickets for garbage or else I wouldn't have been able to get them at all. No mine are not on ebay.

well, if someone wanted to go through ridiculous means such as the san francisco cure promo show in feb 2000, it might not be so bad from that standpoint. if i remember correctly, one could only buy up to two tickets and you didn't actually get a ticket you got a wristband when you showed up and showed your id, so if you bought a ticket, you went into the show basically.
i mean, i guess that could only work for large-scale acts playing small places.... like if yanni were to play the 930 club.

i was happy to have the backstreet boys do a presale, but then again, the tickets were expensive, the service charge was outrageous, and in order to get the presale tickets you had to pay $25 to join the new fan club...but you know what? I would do it again, because Backstreet's Back, and tickets are priceless! But all you 9:30 Club regulars are probably thinking they'll need bring Anti-hazmat in to dirty down the club before you all go back :) And what's even sillier is that even though i got presale tickets it doesn't mean i don't stand in the same long line as the person who got the last ticket on saturday, hope it doesn't rain!

I agree, doesn't seem to change things. It's kinda snarky if you ask me.
Also, did anyone notice tickets.com fees went up? In total, only $2.80 cheaper than ticketbastarder. These pre-sales and general sales that are not taking place at the club are making it difficult to save money. I'll see Garbage for $30 but for $48 - Eesh. If I didn't pounce on some of these tickets, I'd be SOL.
