I'm a fairly new member here...but it seems to me the board is full of musical elitists who scoff at anyone's idea of good music that doesn't jive with their interests.
So...that being said...who is your guilty pleasure that you listen to? This might have been done in the past. If so, I apologize. I'm just wondering if there are any Ace of Base fans there in the closet stuggling to come out!
-
Guilt free here.
-
Does Judas Priest count?
-
Weird Al. Guys who can play the accordian are ace in my book.
-
Oh yeah, lots of guilty pleasures.
My iPod has a few songs from Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Blink 182, EMF, Jesus Jones, and Madonna. But they all have a special time and place.
-
OMC - How Bizarre
that is a decent album or it was the last time I listened to it.
-
4 Non Blondes, but then again, I'm proud to admit that.
-
Village People
-
We bought a disco compliation for the kids (Kool & the Gang, Villiage Peeps, Donna Summer, all the obvious stuff) and I do like listening to that with them, but I don't feel terrible guilty about it.

Does old Neil Diamond count?

noooo, but Barry Manilow does.

How about Gordon Lightfoot?
-
So old Neil Diamond gets the hipster seal of approval? I was listening to a live Neil Diamond cassette that I bought at a library sale and my wife nearly threw up, telling me I needed to draw the line somewhere...that I CAN'T like everything.

I have that too along with several other CDs of his. People tend to either love him or hate him. Personally, I think the man is great; especially his earlier works.
I have always wanted to hear a duet performance with Chris Isaak and K.D. Lang. Both have such gorgeous voices that they know how to use and control properly. Plus, I think they would complement each other very well. I tend to not go for the kind of music that K.D. Lang performs but can still fully enjoy her purely out of complete appreciation for her incredible talent.
Actually, I have no quilt about my list. They just don't fit into what the Indie crowd would tend to approve of but you know me well enough to know that I couldn't give a shit. LOL.

Franz Ferdinand

Hence, the Motley Crue concert we were suppose to meet at. Which I have 53 songs of theirs on my IPOD.

>>> I've been a fan of Chris's for years....he's also probably the nicest celebrity I have ever met....down to earth, funny and all around "great guy".....the quote about him is always......"he was born 30 years too late".....which makes sense considering his influences and heroes.....Jag,I guess this makes you a candidate for my extra Isaak ticket in August at Wolftrap.....let me know if you're interested.....

If you listen to anything post-Shout At The Devil, you should feel guilty.

Oh, definitely! :D
-
kylie minogue...her entire catalogue.
-
Kelly Clarkson (just one song, really)
Robbie Williams
Styx
Bossa Nova lounge music
-
Why would you say bossa nova is a guilty pleasure? It beats at least 95% of indie rock.

I listen to the first Tatu album somewhat regularly. It's well-produced, structured pap pop of the first order. I like the new Madonna album too.
I refuse to consider my obsession with Iron Maiden as a guilty pleasure because they are so absolutely bad ass.

As with all genres, there is good and bad. The bad can get pretty awful.

Hah...I actually had a Styx "Best Of" cd in my hands at Best Buy the other day. But I put it back.
Maybe next time.

I'm probably one of the few people that actually liked "Theatre Of Pain".

Well I guess I was assuming that she was referring to the good stuff.
I guess you could preface any genre with the word "bad" and have it be a guilty pleasure.
Bad bossa nova
Bad indie rock
Bad hip hop
Bad alt-country
Band metal

I actually think Theatre of Pain is still within acceptability as far as the Crue goes.

"Home Sweet Home" singlehandedly ruined metal in the '80s. Metal can be many things, but heartfelt piano ballads are expressly verboten.

Their later disco-type stuff was absolutely terrible. Those first 5-6 singles were terrific though.

George Michael
Elton John
Both let me get in touch with my inner "fabulousness"
...I also like that Angels & Airwaves song.
-
Hilary Duff - So Yesterday. This video comes on all the time at my gym, and I have to turn off the ipod every time.
