Title: Music in Commercials
Post by: thirsty moore on December 14, 2004, 02:44:00 pm
I noticed something like this on that antiquated Citypaper board.  What's the song in the most recent VW commercial?  My internet searches haven't turned up anything this recent.  The ad's about a car salesman showing people the VW that best fits them.

Have you tried their site (http://www.vw.com/commercials/index.html)? They have the commercials online with song/artist information.

 Another site to visit (http://www.songtitle.info/)

 And another (http://adtunes.com/archives/categories/tv_commercials/index.html)

Thanks for your help.  Unfortunately I ran into the same question on the Adtunes forum.

I post as econobot infrequently.  Otherwise, I'm usually lurking.

Over here, T-Rex (Cosmic Dancer) is plugging Ballygowan water and Badly Drawn Boy is being used to sell cornflakes.

I saw James (Born of frustration) being used in a hotel chain commercial on CNN in doodleville once.

Not bad!  I've heard 21st Century Boy on a car commercial.  Another shocker was hearing The Stooges TV Eye on a commercial.

Knew there was a thread like this but had no idea it was this old. Thank you, all-knowing search function!

I heard The Sea and Cake's "Jacking the Ball" in a Citi commercial a day or two ago.

I don't know what's more bizarre; the fact that such a random song was used or the fact that I instantly recognized the song after not hearing it for years.

two tv ads that have me groovin':

the new ipod touch commercial: She's Got Me Dancing - Tommy Sparks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbS57aiYFJ8)

for visio flascreens: Empire Of The Sun: We Are The People (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YN2lsrWN34)

just checked out some other EotS tracks - if you like MGMT and/or 80's synth pop, you might wanna give them a spin.

I like that one where Kylie Minogue has sex with the mechanical bull while the hives or white stripes or spandeau ballet is playing. I would buy whatever the product is. I really, really, really like it.

Walking on a Dream by Empire is an awesome song, similar to We are the People.  Never heard of them til around August when 97.9 played their HD station on a Saturday morning.  Pretty good band.
