 the extra fat on your copy will probably keep it from reaching the field from the bowl seats though. ; -)

Since you're such a smart motherfuc*er, now I'm bringing you a copy on CD AND vinyl.  Along with a DVD of Eddie Murphy - The Best Of Saturday Night Live, so you can watch him & Joe Piscipo do "Ebony & Ivory".  How's that for bloated???    :D

 I got field seats, pal.  I don't do the far away thing at shows.  Go hard or go home!   :D

first off, using "pal" at the end of a sentence is a very white thing to do.  recant.  maybe it was a typo and you meant to write "bro"?     :D

 second, they have seats on the field?!?  i would have thought that the field would be standing GA.  no one sits through a daft punk show.

 y'all be in for a treat tonight.  i'm very excited about seeing muse, but DP trumps it... luckily, not by a whole lot.  have fun!

No sleep.  Body still hasn't crashed yet from the show.  I'm still on a high from last night.  That shit was a spectacle the likes of which I have never seen.  Just . . . . WOW!  It's impossible to describe a Daft Punk show.  I'll just say it's an all-out assault on the senses.  Yeah.  Sensory overload.  An imperfect description for a perfect night.

ladies and gentlemen, we have another convert.  all hail the robots.

 as powerful as this show it, i recognize it won't appeal to everyone.  if you're not into electronic music, if you need to see people on stage as opposed to having the stage *be* the show, if you need something cerebral - DP are going to bore you.  however, for some of us... woa.

thanks.  still a poor substitute for being there.  i hope they release a DVD of this tour, with one of those multi-angle thing where you can pick your point-of-view.  if someone happens to come across a decent-sounding bootleg, please let us know.

Well I have the Coachella 06 set in an Apple friendly (Ipod, Iphone, Itunes, AppleTV) format and I'd say it's B+ visually and A- Audio wise... that those feindin for nicotine can have.   I could burn it onto a DVD but you won't be able to control the angles though it's professionally shot.

That shit made me laugh so loud my co-workers are looking at me.  I was a little *ahem* wrapped up in the moment, fam.    :D

 FYI - Ladies love them some Daft Punk.  Which attributed to the shaky camera movement.  It's hard to keep a girl in the right tempo plus take killer footage. Sure as hell is fun trying, though . . .

yes - so very true about just havign seen them. glad to hear it was an awesome night.

I want to DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

 I got back to DC in time for my very important meeting and I KNOW I must've looked like a crackhead. I had the stamp on my hand from last night, body glitter on my neck, and the most bloodshot eyes this side of the Potomac.

 ANYWAY, about the show...just...A+.

 I didn't take as many pics as I did in Seattle/Denver, but this was my favorite shot of the night!

   <img src="http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c160/FromTheAltarboyInn/P1010313.jpg" alt=" - " />

 TheDirector was right, in that it's hard to take shots *AND* dance your ass off. At one point I remember it was a fucking WAVE of people moving in and out, in rhythm. Just...ridiculous.

Well, I did a *kinda* tour blog on my MySpace page:

 Here's some pics from Seattle:

    <img src="http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c160/FromTheAltarboyInn/P1010304.jpg" alt=" - " />

 And here's some Denver pics:

   <img src="http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c160/FromTheAltarboyInn/P1010485.jpg" alt=" - " />

   <img src="http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c160/FromTheAltarboyInn/P1010494.jpg" alt=" - " />

   <img src="http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c160/FromTheAltarboyInn/P1010489.jpg" alt=" - " />

 Annnnnnnd the grand finale would be meeting Thomas and Guy...

too frickin' cool.  aren't these two notoriously shy? that's why they first started wearing robot costumes - to hide behind in public.  i didn't know that they actually appeared at these things.  aren't too many pictures of those two floating around... nice one.  were they nice fellows, or awkward, or full of themselves?

Seriously, they were EXTREMELY friendly. We told them about how we were seeing all the shows and just how great their performance is, and they were SO grateful. Definitely not full of themselves (they gave me passes to NYC).

 They're great, though.

For those that downloaded this from me, though there appears to be some missing footage that's the battery switch out on an antiquated DV Corder and the running time of 58 minutes only misses fractions of a song, so you have pretty much everything that was there. Remember they only had an hour that year.

This is some bullshit.  No live DVD.    :mad:

 Exclusive: Live Album To Chronicle Daft Punk Tour

 Daft Punk will in late November release a live album chronicling the June 14 Paris stop on its first tour in a decade, Billboard.com can reveal. The as-yet-untitled Capitol set will be available in a single CD edition plus a two-disc set which features the show's encore. As of now, no live DVD companion is in the works, according to the group.

 "We're from Paris and we hadn't played there for 10 years," Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter told Billboard last Friday, the afternoon following the tour closer in Brooklyn, N.Y. "It must have been a special night for the audience, as well as for us."

 The tour version of "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" will be issued as a single from the live set, and a video, directed by Oliver Gondry, will feature footage shot by fans at the Brooklyn show. "It is a montage of people shooting the song in the audience with 250 cameras," Bangalter says. "We were inspired by the Beastie Boys' 'Awesome, I F***in' Shot That!' and tried to do that in a four-minute video."

 Daft Punk will return to the U.S. in late October for a performance at the Vegoose Festival in Las Vegas, and is weighing offers for more shows next year. After such a long layoff from live performance, the group admits it was blown away by the response to the recent North American shows, which included a co-headlining performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago.

 "We pretty much felt it everywhere, which was fascinating," Bangalter says. "It was a big deal each time. It's a big deal for us each time, too, which is what keeps it fresh."

 With a stroke of good timing, Daft Punk is also in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to the "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" sample Kanye West utilizes on his new hit, "Stronger."

 The two acts did not collaborate in the studio, and the actors who portray the Daft Punk robots in the film "Electroma" took Bangalter and partner Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo's place in the "Stronger" video. But the pair say they are thrilled with how West's track turned out, having heard first heard it on Los Angeles station Power 106 while waiting for a recent flight to San Francisco.

 "The DJ had made an edit of our song at the beginning and then it turned into his song," de Homem-Christo says. "Our song had a good sound, but when he put Kanye's record on, the sound was really fat. It sounds really big. It's not a collaboration in the studio, but the vibe of the music we do separately connected in what he did with the song."

Well it's not a big surprise, at least the tour will be archived in some format, and if it's half as good as the first one recorded a decade ago, it'll be the bomb and a worthy addition to all of our collections.

 Oh, if you don't already have this, stop what you're doing and order it NOW.

Your recommendation success rate is 100% with me, so I'm on it.  One good thing though, looks like they may come back around in '08.  Some D.C. love finally???  Maybe???  If The Police got back together, short of a Pink Floyd reunion anything's possible . . . .

Now THAT'S a fuckin' party.  I'm supposed to be in South Beach, but I will easily clip those plans for New Year's with Daft Punk.  That shit'll have NYC looking like Sodom & Gomorrah.

assuming you meant "planning on going to vegoose", the answer is yes: i've already bought my festival tickets and after-party tickets (thievery and umphrey's mcgee).  i know that thedirector was looking into the financial consequences of going (vs. the spiritual and mental consequences of not going   :D  )

 for anyone who felt/feels that they missed out on this year's festies - vegoose is a great opportunity to make ammends.  daft punk alone is putting me on that plane.  voodoofest is another great option.

I was having this conversation with my mates last night, I said "I would pay 150 JUST to see Daft Punk" But add onto that my favorite band Queens of the Stone Age, one of my all time favorite bands Rage Against The Machine, and on top of that my obsession for the past decade Muse! Not to mention Cyperss Hill, Gogol Bordello, Thievery Corp., and Public Enemy.

 Plus Vegas. I want to go to this sooooo bad!

an even better view from above:

   <img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1147/1121283617_e923dc8b10.jpg" alt=" - " />

 go to http://www.thedailyswarm.com/swarm/daft-punk-alive-2007-tour-all-access/ (http://www.thedailyswarm.com/swarm/daft-punk-alive-2007-tour-all-access/)  for a link to a higher-res version. also includes a few details for us gear-heads.  ableton has officially taken over the music industry.

 go to  this myspace page (http://myspace.com/thecarletonsingingknights) and click on the link in the player to hear an acapella version of "harder better faster stronger".  make you realize how brillant the arrangement of the two vocal parts is.

 and there is a 4.2 GB DVD of the coachella live set available via bittorent - might be enough to get me to check out this "torrent" thing... (here's  a link (http://www.torrentspy.com/torrent/1242196/Daft_Punk_Coachella_1_Disc_Version), i'm sure there are others out there).

yeah, and terrorists aren't targeting south dakota either.  indeed, apple is safer, but that there are few mac viruses is, in part, an indictment of the mac - their limited presence makes them a worthless target (see: network effect (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_effect)).  mind you, for the individual user this is a good thing.

interesting - but one pays a premium for a mac.  wouldn't your show budget would be higher if you used a PC?

 this virus thing is a boogey monster - in all my years of computing, i have never had one (i know someone who's mac's hard drive crashed once, lost everything.  macs are evil!  shouldn't be trusted, they crash!  :p )  there are several excellent reasons for going mac, but viruses aren't at the top of the list.

 Nah, but I have no issue with Bill.  Aside of my disdain for WMP, he's good with me.  Plus his corporate gangsta is to be revered.     :eek:   Granted there's far more viruses out there for PCs.  But don't get it twisted, there's some potent ones for Macs as well.  Seen it happen to a couple of Steve enthusiasts such as B.

ive been using macs since 92/93. ive never had a virus and the only time i had an issue (with my titanium powerbook) i called apple, and they fixed it pronto. it was a failure with the design, and the laptop was coming apart. within a few days my mac was fixed. just recently upgraded to the powerbook (or whatever the new laptop is called) and i love it.

 thinking i need an external harddrive - with all the music ive been d/l lately (legally - people!), can anyone suggest one?? if not, ill go stop in the apple store, and im sure ill pay the price, but for the amount of time ive had my computers, its so worth it.

 ill never use a PC and only use them at work since i dont have a choice   :(

If your looking for a desktop drive that you'll keep stationary I'd go with a La Cie drives, good GB/$ ratio and multi inputs (FW400/FW800/USB2) on several models.

  La Cie (http://www.lacie.com/us/products/range.htm?id=10033)

 For a portable I'd with a Otherworld Computing "On The Go" drive, same methodology as the La Cie, but these are genuinely bus powered, at least on the latest Macbooks/Macbook Pros

  Other World Computing (http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/External-USB/)

 For the La Cie be sure to check their clearance section, and buy direct for best value, there are a ton of resellers including Apple Stores (brick mortar/online) but you'll get the latest versions, best price, no sales tax, and cheaper shipping direct.

 For otherworld, they build their own drives, and guarantee for five years, solid apple centric company.

my take: to to www.tigerdirect.com (http://www.tigerdirect.com) or www.newegg.com (http://www.newegg.com) and scope out a deal there.  although i'm assuming that macs can access (and reformat if required) a regular hard drive, right?

 i bought a USB-2 external drive off eBay some 3 years ago and am thrilled with it.  i've got everything, from music to pix to work files, backed up on in case my other computers crash.

I just bought a Seagate FreeAgent 500 GB external drive (http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US&name=freeagent-desktop-500gb-usb2.0-external-hd&vgnextoid=e7a9812ecd8a0110VgnVCM100000f5ee0a0aRCRD&vgnextchannel=8d3f26bbdae90110VgnVCM100000f5ee0a0aRCRD&reqPage=Model) for $129 at Best Buy.  It was $40 cheaper than newegg.  If they have any left, it's the most GB per dollar that I have found.  Do not buy the Pro version as you pay for software that you likely won't use.

Yes mac can reformat and use any drive, I was just pointing out drives that could utilize the additional ports availabe on most macs, since most people are already overloading their USB2 ports, though hubs are available.

Take what you can get for now, book that trip to Vegas Oct. 26-28.  Take my advice for what it's worth . . . .

 Daft Punk Reveals Live Album Track List

 August 27, 2007, 12:45 PM ET

 Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
 As first reported here earlier this month, Daft Punk's June 14, 2007, show in its Paris hometown forms the basis of "Daft Punk Alive 2007," due Nov. 20 via Capitol. The album will be available as a single-disc set or a two-disc edition that features the encore and a 50-page book.

 The tour version of "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" will be issued as a single from the live set, and a video, directed by Oliver Gondry, will feature footage shot by fans during an Aug. 9 show at Coney Island in Brooklyn, N.Y.

 Daft Punk played its first show in nine years at the 2006 Coachella Festival, and positive word-of-mouth in its wake was a huge contributing factor to the success of its recent North American tour.

 Based on Billboard estimates, the brief run grossed in the neighborhood of $3 million and played to more than 60,000 fans. "We easily could have done multiples in some of these markets. We really underplayed," the group's agent, John Pleeter of CAA, tells Billboard. "The philosophy behind it, in as far as the show goes, was to tease the marketplaces and leave people wanting more."

 "The thing we focused on is what you get out of the show: an intense experience of music, lights and robots, with a thin line between fiction and reality," Daft Punk principal Thomas Bangalter tells Billboard. "That is really the concept of this tour, which was not the concept of the stuff we were doing 10 years ago."

 Buzz is also growing for the film "Electroma," an homage to low-budget science-fiction movies that builds on the robot motif. In it, two crew members fill the roles Bangalter and partner Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo play onstage. The movie is something of a cult favorite in France, where it has been playing to packed midnight screenings, and just premiered Aug. 17 in New York. Additional U.S. screenings will roll out through late September, and Vice will release it in January on DVD.

 Still, amid Daft Punk mania, Bangalter and de Homem-Christo are being careful to retain the mystique they've worked so hard to build. For one, despite the overwhelming visual aspect of the recent tour, there will not be a live DVD to accompany "Alive 2007." ("That's the way we want to leave it right now," Bangalter says). For another, the pair won't put a timetable on when it will play more shows or return to the studio to begin work on a fourth album.

 "The cool thing is that we're always trying to do something that hasn't been done, or ultimately, that we aren't doing ourselves yet," Bangalter says. "That's what we felt about the film and this tour. It is challenging to get back in the studio and work with ideas we haven't expressed before. Some ideas take time, but some just take a few weeks, so we'll see."

 Here is the track list for "Alive 2007:

 Disc one:

 "Robot Rock" / "Oh Yeah" / "Touch It" / "Technologic" / "Television Rules the Nation" / "Crescendolls" / "Too Long" / "Steam Machine" / "Around the World" / "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" / "Burnin'" / "Too Long" / "Face to Face" / "Short Circuit" / "One More Time" / "Aerodynamic" / "Aerodynamic Beats" / "Forget About the World" / "Prime Time Of Your Life" / "Brainwasher" / "Rollin' And Scratchin'" / "Alive" / "Da Funk" / "Daftendirekt" / "Superheroes" / "Human After All" / "Rock'N'Roll"

 Disc two:

 "Human" / "Together" / "One More Time" (Reprise) / "Music Sounds Better With You" / "Stardust (Instrumental)"

From The Daily Swarm (08/27/07):

 This is one costume party not to miss. The Daily Swarm has confirmed that Daft Punk will play one additional North American show on the Alive 2007 tour:

 31 de octubre: Palacio de los Deportes, Ciudad de México

 Tickets go on sale next week.

 The Dia de los Muertes show in Mexico comes just four days after the duoâ??s only remaining U.S. show for the year, in Las Vegas for the Vegoose Festival. The only other dates on the groupâ??s calender are a series of shows in Japan this December.
