Anyone hitting the BC tomorrow night?
I'm pretty excited . .
-
Oh yeh, should be Sweet....
-
Not sure yet, but if I go, I'll check out White Rabbits.
-
You know, I think I'll be making an appearance
-
i'm in, it'll be my last night on the town before heading out for jersey. even having a little pre-party!
-
me

Wish I could make this show but i'm leaving for vacation in the morning. Really digging the Cribs record. Man's Needs is a stellar track.
-
georgewendt will be there (along with wife vera).
excited for the cribs (...just another number...doot doot doot.). white rabbits look like they have a bunch of energy live, so that should be cool too. i've been trying really hard to get in to takka takka, but just can't.
-
Possibly going. Never seen either band but friends assure me I will enjoy it.

its my last night out too before i move! anyways should be good. saw them a few years ago they were a fun band to see live though i've only heard their single off the new album. hopefully they'll throw in a few songs from their debut cause i always really liked that one
-
i thought they were fairly committed but that the sound was shite like

sound was atrocious - cribs were mediocre - white rabbits were good
-
I think it's a weird pairing. White Rabbits are way better than the Cribs.

It cleared up "a bit" toward the end, but it was the worst sound I've heard at the Black Cat, old or new location.

what an odd night! white rabbits were okay, they were fun to watch and i always love a band with two drummers but they really lost me when they covered maggie's farm it really was shockingly bad. and i agree with the sound issues during the cribs it was pretty awful. i didn't really like the sound of their new stuff either. the one song they played off their first album was the best of the night. and i dont know where people were standing but god what a strange crowd up front i felt like i was at a we are scientists gig with the all girl mosh pit up front and grabbing onto them every time they were close enough to touch. Anyways not the greatest night really but ah well.

yup, that pretty much sums up the evening.
thanks to everyone who came out and sent me off in such high fashion, and an even bigger thanks to the two sweeties who organized the soiree. i had an absolute blast. i seem to have spent today in a daze, wonder why...

i'm relieved to hear that other people had the same problem with the sound that i did. takka takka and white rabbits sound was just fine, but, as soon as the cribs came on, its like someone turned the top half off. i really couldn't hear them at all, so i went back to the sound guy and said i couldn't hear the vocals or guitars. he told me that its the way the cribs wanted it and that "they have the guitar at blistering volume already." thankfully, the sound did get better later on.
as for the bands themselves, both takka takka and white rabbits brought good energy, but ultimately seemed harmless. that dylan cover is in my top ten worst.
the cribs were surprisingly good times and not as sloppy or as crowd-hating as they were at const. hall last time. i'm not as much of a fan of the newest album as i am of the first two, but they had a good mix. especially when they played "another number." man, i about peed my pants when that came on. overall, great times.
