Just wondering...going clothes shopping today :p
-
nordstrom rack is having their semi-annual large shoe size event today... one of my favorite days of the year.
-
gap outlet in old town..and the banana republic right next door if im feeling rich.
-
once every six month i trek out to the leesburg outlets and get it over with. i got there partially for the prices, and partially for the convenience (ok, the hour drive isn't that convenient, but having everything in place is worth it and it's slightly less surreal that mega-shopping centers like tysons). i always end up spending too much at kenneth cole - cheeseball is moi.
-
i shop everywhere - goodwill. nordstrom. bebe. forever 21. neiman marcus. gap. white house black market. and practically any other store that offers girls clothing. i'm an equal opportunity shopper. that and i have a fucking shopping addition. i'm actualy about to head to the mall myself...
so we going to see some new threads tonight j?

I'm usually pretty thrifty when it comes to clothes...if I see something that is decently priced, fits and looks alright anywhere I'll get it. Like today, I got a tie at Ross and a polo shirt at Old Navy, and total spent was like $22.
-
Most often at thrift stores or online, or at the Banana Republic Outlet. I have so many clothing items, it's rare when I buy anything these days, unless it's a special use item such as running shoes or running shorts.
Like anyone cares where a 40 year old curmudgeon buys his clothes!

Just got home from the Potomac Mills in Woodbridge. Wow, it is huge. :p
-
I used to love Potomac Mills when I was 5, but the lack of decent stores gets old. I tend to buy a lot of clothing from H&M, a fair selection from Old Navy, and accessories from Forever21 and Urban Outfitters. Anthropologie and Banana Republic show up on occasion, as well.
-
Couldn't think of any last night... :)

H&M, Forever 21, Anthropologie, Gap, Urban, American Apparel, thrift stores (georgia avenue thrift <3), Target!!, the District Line, Meeps, etc.
-
I like to go to Urbanoutfitters,H&M, and Universal Gear.
Online I like revolveclothing.com, urbanoutfitters.com, standardstyle.com jrlaransom.com and houseofstyle.com.
They are all having sales I believe.
-
The Gap, Macys/Hechts. I see that a Bloomingdale's is about to open near me in Friendship Hts where Hechts was; not sure how uppity that'll be
I came back practically empty-handed from my last trip to Tyson's. What's with all this foofoo stuff for guys? The most appropriate store name is Guess... you have to Guess which side of the store is the guy clothes
And it's upsetting to read the tags on the $270 shirts at stores like Nordstroms and Saks. 'Made In China' or 'Made In Malaysia', of course, like they couldn't make it in the US at those prices

Old Navy. Macy's. Kohl's.
I miss Hecht's.

Will anybody else here admit to shopping at Chess King and Merry Go Round back in the 80s?

I'm guilty for Chess King.

One could buy a pretty mean white belt back in the day at Chess King. Mine got me countless compliments from the ladies.

i thought this was going to be an acrostic.

Still, I have no doubt that Vansmack gets compliments from the ladies on his white belt.
My experience with wearing questionable fashion items was that you'll pick up compliments no matter how tacky the item. Some women think the fact that you stand out from the fashion sheep is reason enough to compliment you.
Of course, for every female compliment you get, there's probably five to ten others snickering. :D But if that one person complimenting you is attractive, who cares!

I'll always stop in Supreme if I'm in NY or LA (though they keep a far better selection in the LA store), as far as if there's a particular tee shirt of theirs I want I usually keep tabs on about 10-15 NY/LA area kids online that are always happy to wait in line to make an extra $10-15 on a tee shirt so a lot of times I'll just patronize them (or find someone on Ebay if absolutely necessary, as I'm sure you know Supreme is so widely faked that it's definitely a last-ditch option only). And if you live in the DC area, Commonwealth on Florida Avenue ( www.cmonwealth.com (http://www.cmonwealth.com) ) is one of only 3 stores in the Continental US licensed to sell their stuff (of course in much smaller quantities) but they're good for finding a piece here and there, especially the accessory type stuff like backpacks and bags.

-
Let's see, seven out of nine of those I've never heard of. And YOU'RE mocking hipsters (on another thread)?

i love love love american apparel too. the skirts are my favorite.

i just found an aa wholesaler and spent way too much.

How do you people shop exclusively online? Do you just know how some of these retailers fit you already, or do you just order the standard size you need? I've never had clothes fit me the same way from store to store. Hell, half the time they don't fit me from pant to pant.
I just had a nice run of shopping thanks to my wife's substantial discount at Barney's. Now that she's moved on, I genuinely stick to shops like Banana Republic & French Connection for work/dressier clothes, Old Navy & American Eagle for shorts and casual stuff, and eBay & shows for t-shirts. But then again, I let my wife dress me. It's easier that way.

I mainly wear t-shirts, which I tend to get either at shows or from Threadless (http://www.threadless.com/?streetteam=Bob+Loblaw). And then pants wherever I can find 'em, usually The Gap.

Nordstrom
Saks
Montgomery County Thrift & the Opportunity Shop (represent!)
H&M
Marc Jacobs
Urban Outfitters on occasion
Target
Meeps

...but i bet you shop at Alife too, don't you? ;)
-
any ideas on a site for 70s/80s bands t-shirts? i usually sift through ebay, but it's a pain in the ass
-
I used to work at the Leesburg Outlet mall, and therefore shopped there EVERY. DAY.
now I never go shopping at all.
-
Nice to see Burning Airlines (http://burningairlines.com/) is still around. I used to buy stuff from them 20+ years ago. Enjoy!

I thought they'd gone under! I remember being annoyed because I had some kind of store credit with them (for $10 or so -- must've been a poster or T-shirt that they didn't have in stock) and never got to use it.
Plus those b*stards sent me a Cure interview picture-disc set that was warped, but at that point I'd had very little experience with vinyl, so I didn't realize what was wrong until years later. :(
Moi, hold a grudge?
;)

H&M because my friend used to work there.
That's about it.... and Kohl's.

For work clothes (if you need to wear a suit, or at least nice pants and shirt), the best advice I ever got was develop a relationship with a tailor because you will get better clothes and save money over the long run. And it's true. The clothes fit extremely well (it helps that I've kept the same physique for 15+ years), they're of great material and quality, and while a black suit might seem to be like all black suits, it feels unique (and sassy) to me. I haven't bought anything for work, other than socks and skivvies, off the rack in years.

the humane society thrift store on gude dr in rockville, in the same strip mall as atomic music and joes record paradise. your one stop shopping adventure!
with the humane society thrift store, you know your money is going to a good cause and often can find some real quality clothes whose previous owner is probably now dead. 2 for 1 $3 dress shirts!
