I've been thinking about this one for awhile now: A cross-country mixtape. Each song on the tape has to mention by name a place in the US, and the songs will be organized by location, east to west or west to east.
Stipulations to make things interesting: the location can't be in the title of the song and even if the song has multiple locations mentioned, only one can be included (so don't be funny and go with "I've Been Everywhere.")
Some songs to start:
Arcade Fire- Cold Wind (San Francisco)
Bob Dylan- Tangled Up in Blue (New Orleans)
-
Arcade Fire- Cold Wind (San Francisco)
Casiotone for the Painfully Alone - Blue Corolla (Phoenix)
Bob Dylan- Tangled Up in Blue (New Orleans)
-
Lucero - Raising Hell (Austin)
-
Route 66 - Depeche Mode - take your pick on location.
Have a Nice Day - Stereophonics - San Francisco

Lou Reed - Walk on the Wildside (Miami, F-L-A)
-
I've been Everywhere - Johnny Cash

Jiving Sister Fanny by the Rolling Stones (Philadelphia, PA)

America by Simon and Garfunkel (Pittsburgh, PA and Saginaw, MI)

I Left My Wallet in El Segundo by A Tribe Called Quest (El Segundo, CA)
Motorcycle Boy by Gutterball (Oxnard, CA, Abliene and Dallas, TX)
Brian

Starbuck "Moonlight Feels Right" (Baltimore, Chesapeake Bay)
James Brown "Night Train" (lotsa East Coast cities)

Any song that mentions Winslow, AZ, and is not performed by The Eagles or Jackson Browne must be disqualified.
Texarkana - REM (I don't think they actually mention the town in it though)
True. That's b/c the title came from Stipe, but Mills wrote the lyrics, which have nothing to do with Texarkana.
