i totally agree... as i told brennser off forum it's like old school hfs vs dc10... deciding what music to spin is a bit of quandry as well, seeing as fans music tastes could be trapped in either the 80s or 90s.

For some reason this double bill makes me feel sorry for the bands.  Not really sure why, but it does.  Not that I was ever a huge fan of either (though in the 80's i did go through a brief ska phase like many little punk kids).  When soul asylum were on twin tone there were just better bands out there, and then there was that whole unfortunate runaway train thing....

I'm going, I've seen The Specials, Special Beat, The Selector now after seeing The English Beat Just have to see Madness and Bad Manners to complete the 2 tone set.

My wife made the comment that Dave Pirner is one ugly man.

That was my comment as well, but my wife doesn't have a high opinion of Winona either.

I could tell the story of the time that I was exiting Louie's Bookstore Cafe in Baltimore with my Mom, and we ran into Dave and Winona. But like my other stories, I've probably told that one on here a half dozen times.

I had a neighbor who did charity work in Baltimore, and she said Winona was supposed to to a fundraiser for them...insisting they provide her with limo service and only sticking around for a short time...Dave stuck around the rest of the night and apologized for Winona's behavior...

Seems like I should be getting somewhere....

Wish I could go.  Ugly or not, I loved Soul Asylum and English Beat.  Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger, both hot!

Kosmo, before Soul Asylum, you should play something from the Reality Bites soundtrack.  Maybe Tempted or My Sharona, or even that Lisa Loeb song.

Same here.  It's something like a "well this is where we ended up."

Something from the Backbeat band would be fun.

Kind of like playing at the Black Cat every few months.

hmmm don't think i want to stir up memories right before a band hits the stage... well the backbeat band is a good suggestion however playing a track from the artists past is a bit of stretch... maybe i'll bust out Stillwater or the Teenage Fanclub version of "Like A Virgin"
