I was debating on what a particular song was about last night, and decided to try to find out, on the internet. eh, its hard.
Does anyone have any tricks or sites/resources they may use to figure out what certain songs may be about?
anything at all would help. tanks.

well, not really a band in particular. Although the one we were talking about was Grandaddy. but, I was wondering in more of a general sense....you know, like there are sites for lyrics and crap. Or just if anyone developed a method for finding crap like that.....

Yeah, either the band's official site or fansite/fan messageboard would probably help.
It's always fun to interpret the song in one's own way, though.
Oh, Grandaddy? ;)

In college I did a report on the meaning of Sylvia Plath's poetry. Got three books on it, 3 very different interpretations all dissing the other books. From that point forward I say if the writer doesn't give it a meaning there is none.

What longtime DC resident wrote this song:
"i pledge allegiance to the thought
that your love is all that matters
and your gestures have the power
to bring the whole world to its knees
don't let me torment you
don't let me bring you down
don't ever let me hurt you
don't let me fail because
i desire your attention
i desire your perfect love
i desire nothing more (than this)
(or less)
to give you happiness
could become a lifetime goal
a smile i might bring you
is more important than world peace
i pledge allegiance to the fact
that you're wise to walk away
for nothing is more dangerous
than desire when it's wrong"

No. But your guess is close.

This is kind of tricky since the band that used these lyrics is not from DC but the "poet" if you will has been here since 1982.

Correctamundo! It's a love ballad meant for Jodie.
Boorad, pat yourself on the back for being a literary action-figure.
