Did I miss this being posted?
Ben Folds at GWU Smith Center, November 1st.
If this was already posted, sorry. But I am damn excited to go!!!!!

Ben is great, but a gym on a college campus is definitely not the best venue (for him or for anyone really).
Saw him last spring at the gym at Univ of Richmond and you couldn't hear a thing between the terrible acoustics and the drunken 18-year olds.
Is he still "Ben and a piano" or will he have a band?
-
Weird venue decision. I think he barely sold out the warner last time solo, and smith center is much larger. This is a college tour, i.e. soak the college program board for much more than a promotor would pay. Still worth seeing, i think, but low expectations as to sound echoing around a largely empty building, etc.

And, no band. Just ben and piano and stool.
-
hopefully the samples come back negative.
-
I have some faith that if Ben didnt think his stuff would sound right in a gym, then he wouldnt be doing a tour like this. but it will probably be not as good as seeing him outside or at 930.

chknfngers - thanks for hitting the softball i left out there.
As to SPIN's faith in Ben...have you ever been to the Smith Center?

Seth - I remember getting soaked in just the same way. When I did it, it was called "The Hooters."

I think I was the one that got whacked on that

I thought we did that one without you Seth, and took the hit. At least Ben Folds is a better/cooler show. He even says bad words in his songs.
