I know the year isn't over yet, but here are mine:
1) Queens of the Stone Age w/ the Distillers @ the Warfield, SF (probably the best concert I've EVER seen)
2) Radiohead @ Alpine Valley, WI (DC show at Merriweather also great)
3) Belle and Sebastian @ 9:30 (also saw the Philly Tower Theater show, good)
4) Rollins Band (doing Black Flag) @ 9:30
5) X @ 9:30 Club
6) Supergrass w/the Coral @ 9:30
7) Blur @ 9:30
8) Grandaddy w/Super Furry Animals @ 9:30
9) Echo & the Bunnymen @ Webster Hall, NY
10) Buzzcocks @ the Double Door, Chicago

There were 10 worth seeing? ;)
-
Oooo many more than Ten:

1: Arthur Lee and Love (thanksa again Kosmo for dragging us along)
3Lambchop
4The Tyde
5Adam Green at the Makor in NY
6 The Decemberists
7Cinerama (wait this belongs higher)
8 idlewild at Baltimore (that was this year, right?)
9Adam Green at pier 54 in NY
10 Supergrass and the Coral
11Detroit Cobras, something about hearing three songs outside and then getting let in for four songs made it oddly magical.
-
Rollins Band / Black Flag
BRMC
The Wrens
Mission of Burma
Paul Weller
Libertines / British Sea Power
Immortal Lee County Killers / Drive-By Truckers
Idlewild
Mars Volta
I know there are more that I'm forgetting at the moment.
I think this year was better for shows than albums.

Big year for nostalgia shows. Didn't see enough new music, or enough music period. Both White Stripes shows were disappointing (NYC show was too short; Smith Center show could have been higher energy) but were still my favorite shows of the year.
Bring on the Pixies and the Stooges in '04! (and another round of Stripes shows . . .)

Foo Fighters are going to be on the Billboard Awards show with a bunch of other great bands. Maybe the show already happened.

Placebo is not making this list. God, that show was painful. Band=Good, Audience=Bad.
Stellastarr was good though. And of course, being a teenybopper at heart, I was quite taken with the singer.
-
I thought the set almost mirrored this past summer's show, and I think I enjoyed the latter better. What was so bad about the audience Laura? The peeps around me were singing the lyrics and pogoing their heads off. As for Stellastarr*, the first song, my fave In the Walls, was a great start and then it was downhill from there.
-
I'm not a huge fan of the whole physical contact, crushing forward thing. Lots of hair in my mouth. And I never want to smell hair wax ever again. I wasn't really expecting it, I guess, so I didn't really enjoy it as much.

And yeah, that Styx/REO Speedwagon show was amazing. Could have done without Journey (who of course was the headliner), but it was all good. Talk about revelling in nostalgia and schtick!

I really wanted to go to that New Model Army show but it was in that 2 weeks span of every fucking band in the world touring DC. Too much good and not enough time, not to mention way too many trips to DC.
-
I haven't seen many shows this year,
Rhett Miller, Radiohead, Libertine's, Interpol (which I think was really all about the Occidentals for me)....
everyshow I went to for a reason and enjoyed thoroughly for its own merits, but this weekend I was in Philly and I have say I saw one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. Placebo played at Theater of Living Arts. The sound is not always the best in that joint, but the crowd was more into it than I have seen in a long time at a show. This is the first time I'd seen Plecebo live, sad to say I missed stella star- heard they had a good set too.

Not that many people knew the Pretneders, although on e of their sappy ballads got the biggest response, surprisingly ("I'll Stand by You"). It was in a big field in a larger town in eastern Germany. I kind of just showed up and went
