Because our profiles are practically non-existent, just wondering if anyone's interested in telling us a bit about yourself? I know some things...Markie's younger than I would have thought, lives in Cleveland Park with his wife and no car. Mankie's an old Brit and quite opinionated. Samantha's super young. Redsock dates a hottie from Exit Clov (and is he particularly interested in baseball right now?).
Just wonderin'

Oy.
Forever I thought jadetree was a chick.
But that's kind of me; I spill the beans on personal facts pretty quick. Do the same around my office. I'm not all that secretive!

Do you mean something like this or do you want stats ;) :p  Hello,Im an outgoing, sincere fella who enjoys the outdoors as well as just kickin back at home.Music is a big part of my life.I like to get away at least once a month to the city to see my favorite bands or to the beach for some relaxation.I consider myself a modern day gentleman who makes sure that my mate is taken care of and is enjoying themself.I enjoy the country life although I do like to surround myself with good friends and love the spontanious trip to wherever.I definiteley need a change of scenery or I get stircrazy.I consider myself extremely caring and am always willing to help others,as long as I don't feel taken advantage of.I tend to take the reins in order to get things done. p.s. just taking the piss with ya Bags.God,work is excruciatingly slow today

Yes, it took me to figure out the illustrious and most esoteric secret of the board. :D :D

Hey PR, you dont like halo, do you?
I've never played Halo.. The PC version just came out but I haven't had a chance to pick it up yet. And I don't have a X-Box. X-Box is the one console out of the big 3 that I don't have. Don't wanna line up Microsoft's big fur coat with more money. :p

Lulu is always very cagey when I ask her who Dupek is...... All she says is, "he is the master". Although I think Jadetree, thinks I am Dupek....

Well I feel like you, but marathon on the mac was my favourite game, so I had to get xbox..... Halo is the only console game I have bothered playing in years. I bet its good on the PC.

No, Markie (or whatever name of the week he is) is not Dupek.
And yes, Poorlulu is right, he is The Master.

Pariah, what I've heard from reviews so far is that Halo PC is the way the game was meant to be played... sounds good to me. I'll be picking that up very soon.
I might break down soon and finally get a X-Box.. because its library of titles is pulling on me and taking me over my anti-Microsoft feeling. All I hear about Star Wars: Knigths Of The Old Republic is that it's the best RPG and Star Wars game in years. Plus I always wanted to play that Mech action that's only on the X-Box. There's also Splinter Cell. And there's one RPG game coming next year called Fable that I really would like to play.
Damn you, Microsoft... damn you to heeelllll. :p

OOohhhhh, Do tell, ggw. Do tell!
Discretion is the better part of valor.
-
if i count as anyone, i'm a 23 yo lady who recently moved back here from a stynt in Dallas by way of a hellish year of lawschool in the midwest. so as you can imagine, i have been starved for both good shows and the company of those who enjoy them.
i work in the city but live in va. i love the 930 but cower in selfdoubt and angst when i get near it.

That's funny, I cower in self doubt and angst everytime i go near Ben's chili bowl.
And thanks to Bags, my secret's out, I love the Red Sox. I feel so naked now.
-
Bags, you started this thread, but didn't tell anything about yourself ;-)

HA, to me halo is a song from the latest Foo Fighters album! That's my biggest secret on this board at least, I'm a HUGE Foo Fighters fan.

OH NO! That's terrible. In my early 20s, I went to the 9:30 club so much, and probably a third to half the time I had to go by myself. I didn't have friends in town into the same music. And that was the old 9:30 club that was much....more of a dive. And the neighborhood, though way gentrified now, was equally as sketchy/not really sketchy.
Go a lot. If you're by yourself, go down to the Back Bar until the show starts; it's comfy and I'll bet you end up talking to someone. If you see a brunette, with some highlights, in a Fleshtones t-shirt, say hi. It'll be me!
-

Well yes, you're right. I do have many things to do in the evenings, though, and was out to dinner with some lovely ladies I used to work with who had good advice for informational interviews for a friend of mine!
My biggest giveaway was the Fleshtones t-shirt, which I wear to about half the shows I go to. See, I think most folks on here know my basics -- mid-30s living in Woodley Park and so happy to have friends again who love music, and seeing music, as much as I. Okay, one of 'em's a bit of a crab, but we have a blast more than most people!
I love the boards because I find out about the shows that are coming up, and I've learned about a bunch of new bands -- like Idlewild! And Pernice Bros.! I just bought Pretty Girls Make Graves and Postal Service today, not sure about either yet, but we'll see.
it occured to me when ggw answered something somewhere that I dont' know a thing about him or her....
First and foremost, bags and/or Bagster is a CHICK!
Markie, I thought you were my age 'cuz Mankie is, and you 'sound' older. It's a compliment, yet you get to BE young. Ah youth. The only advantage to age is more money to spend on shows.
;)
Any questions?
-
my big secret is that my boobs aren't really that big, I stuff! but shhhh don't tell anyone
-
no questions just another fyi
10.24 - The Mojo in Baltimore

YEAH -- wonder if this means they'll hit DC as well?
I'll never get anyone to go to Baltimore with me.

Jadetree IS a chick, her name is Ginger.. we went out a couple of times but it didn't work out... she was indie, I was mainstream... she liked walks on U Street, I liked walks on the beach... it just wasn't meant to be... but we are still friends, we shake hands at shows as long as Markie and Lulu are around...

I'm 43 and realized I'm not getting any younger so recently started to exercise A LOT~ My goal is to cycle the Aids ride in 2004.
Natural brown hair with distinguished gray bits!
Just sold my racing green MINI for a Toyota Matrix XRS, needed 4 doors for the baby. Still have my classic mini though.
Married to a much younger woman.
Wouldn't be seen dead in a kilt, they're for poofs and Scots...well, lets just say for poofs.
Hoping to do much more fucking~!
Guilty pleasures...Tom Jones, Dido.
I appreciate a good pint.
Current listening habits...new Bowie, B&S (getting into both modes for upcoming shows) Stranglers, Classical on the way home from work.
Other favs....Beautiful South, Waterboys, Smiths, Pogues, Clash and Punjabi lounge cd.
I moved from Manchester in 1985, although lived in Plymouth for 10 years while in the Royal Navy.
I work in the car business so NEVER home!
...lastly, I feel this job is slowly draining all the creative talents I ever had, which I really do have believe it or not.

Man, I feel YOUNG!!
I just turned 26, and I am a Canadian/Boston transplant to Baltimore. Born in Mississauga moved to Boston at 14 and came here to promote raver parties/clubs in 1997 and have since departed that scene, and got on the board to meet some music lovers of the non-electronic variety.
I dont get to DC all that much. Sometimes cause of lack of accompaniment, but i tend to be at Fletchers and Ottobar a lot.
Beer, Hockey and Radiohead are my game. :)
-
oh, and i am a "smug record store clerk"
-
i'm 28, live in sw dc. bunnyman and i went to college together at gwu, that's how we know each other. i'm originally from boston and my username is part of my last name in english translation from an italian dialect. :)
and right now i'm supposed to be finish a project that is due in 20 minutes and i'm posting on here.
-
ok I'll go :D
I'm Samantha Rae (http://www.samantharae.com) or Sami or Sam. I'm 17, short & chunky with freshly dyed (yesterday!) black hair which I am just getting used to. I've been red for the past few years...
if you couldn't tell already I have the mind and libido of a frat boy. yes, all I think about is sex and tits. and yes I am bisexual. I also smoke. and shit on anyone who wants to bitch to me about it.
I live in NorVA with my family, and I go to a private/homeschool. in other words I am socially inept, and spend my day HERE. as well as emotional & physical scars from dating a jerk twice my age for a year, throwing me into deep depression. BUT THAT'S FOR THERAPY LATER THIS WEEK...
did I say enough already? hehehe ok I'll shut up
anybody notice I've been here for a year and only have 500something posts? I'm trying to talk a lot to push the number up a bit. hahahaha sucks for you :p
-
I'm 27, in DC via RI, but I've been here a while thanks to college at GW. Though I do not know any of the other gdubbers on the board. I work a shitty non-descript job, forever longing to break free with my artistic powers. And yes, I am currently in love with a hottie from everyone's new favorite local band (even if you don't know it yet) Exit Clov. Who, btw, grew up right down the way from one of my older guilty pleasures, Richard Marx.
I love music, and one of my pet peeves is bands that start with "The", at least the ones that all sound alike.

I was an English Major, hence the shitty non-descript job. But I knew tons of Elliot school folk. One of my long-time roomies you may know, Mike Zolandz? He and I don't talk anymore, which you might understand if you knew him.

33 live in columbia so that I can hit both b-more and DC (well and I work 10 minutes from home). electonics geek. Also best mountainbiking in the area is right here, if anyone is up for a ride on good singletrack.

English majors rule. Give it time, you'll start changing the world (or at least doing something you like) any day now. You laid the foundation for....anything.
I, myself, 'change the world' through energy policy work, which sounds dry but I think kicks ass. Not as cool as being a novelist or a journalist, but I write a lot and like the community I work within.
I was born in Jersey, but really grew up in Florida (my formative years in Clearwater, alas). I'm fine with FL, but have always been northeast-inclined. I left for college up north and never looked back. Turns out, though, that I'm really a D.C. girl! I've been here almost 14 years, *after* college (I'm 36 now -- but I prefer to say "mid-30s"). So, I started my 9:30 Club routine in 1990, at the old smelly Club!
I was a radio dj four years in school, but of course that's not a hard gig to get, but it got me used to listening and sampling lots of music. I've always been a power pop/guitar indie rock kinda girl, with early leanings into brit alternative classics.
I love DC, especially the music scene as nearly *everybody* comes through. Yeah, the indie audiences could lighten up a bit and show some more enthusiasm, but I don't let it get me down.
Single and should be looking, plan to always live in the city, drive around in a RED car, and am pretty damn loud and raucus in 'live' settings.
You're next.

F yeah! Practically in my back yard. Have several different areas around Orange Grove/Avalon, McKeldin, and the super secret Mulch Factory trail.

I'm Fico, thats my name and it's short for Francisco. I am a real version of "Fez" from that 70s show. I came to DC via Santo Domingo, I'm half Dominican/half PuertoRican...came to Georgetown grad school and stayed working, looking for a change now. I am in the best rock band in DC although we're yet to find a singer... I've met many of the regulars and they're alright.. as of now I'm just horney and getting ready to conquer the world, how, I don't know...
ps: jadetree dumped me for a GBV voices cd and a trucker hat... she's a ho'..jejejeje

And for you newbies...the address is www.extclov.com (http://www.extclov.com)
Notice Mankie, some new stuff to the site. I mention this cause you have commented before on it.

Secret Agent 00Jaguar [/QB][/QUOTE]
I know - this is the Matrix, right? and the newbies are the agents, keep reinventing themselves....right now I'm wishing I took the blue pill.....

Actually, it's a secret cabal. ;)

Can you just let us know..... Feel free to IM me.....
I think bombay doors is just the bombay doors. No one else I know on the board would buy the same things on ebay as him.

I will give you that but nothing else. What you have said is correct.
And as Poorlulu says, "He is The Master."
I have dropped a hint for him to know that I am one of the enlightened ones. Something that only he will understand. :D
I just can't believe that it took me this freaking long to figure it out! Yet, I did suspect it about a year ago and it slipped my clouded mind. Even funnier is that they often reminded me of each other not realizing that they are one and the same.

Wait, I've got it, he's me, right? Am i Right?

Sorry, but your post contradicted my post and you said my post was correct.
I dont think Dupek is anyone else on the board. I think Dupek is just Dupek.

If you knew, you would understand that it doesn't contradict. I suspected this prior to my revelation; however, he is not anyone that you know. He is someone that I know.

does the person you know have offspring?

Does this have something to do with aliens or UFOs?

Well my buddy Dupek told me that about a month ago he went surfing........ So that conjures up an interesting mental image of Steven Hamking on a board......
I think you are off base, Jag.

I am from (the home of the World Champion) Anaheim (Angels), CA, right in heart of THE OC.
I received degrees in Political Science and Philosophy in CA before moving to DC in 1996 to go to law school. After law school, I worked on internet strategies for nonprofits in DC for 5 years.
I recently moved to San Francisco with my girlfriend Smackette who now attends UCSF Medical School. I took Kosmo's advice and started working from home and may never go to work in an office again (if I can get affordable health insurance - gotta love this country). I voted no on the recall and did not vote for the Governator.
My favorite band is U2, I like old school everything and I am also a total sports junkie. Tonight, I have set-up an extra telelvision in the family room because there are two playoff baseball games and the hockey seasons starts.
My guily pleasures are too long to list as I stopped maturing around the age of 15. I like pop culture and will defend Britney to her dying day. I am on my way to shave my head like JT, because that's what all cool kids are doing.
My favorite types of writing are sports writers and british comedy writers because they are brutally honest.
X-Box rocks and I suggest everyone get one to pass the time. Madden, FIFA, and Tony Hawk are my current favorite games. My personality is way too addictive to play games like Halo.
I think my first show at the 9:30 was the Verve in 97 (or was it 98?) and my last show was X (I think). My favorite show was Social D in November of 2001. Nothing like being at home 3000 miles away.
My first show ever was the Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan with my folks, who also took me to see David Bowie, The Who, and the US Festival before I ventured off without my folks and saw U2 at the LA Sports Arena on April 22, 1987.
My favorite drinks are Guinness and Live Wire.
The name vansmack comes from my favorite baseball player growing up (Andy Van Slyke) and my uncanny ability to talk a lot of trash while playing/watching sports.
And I don't know Jaguar's secret, but now I'm intrigued and am looking for the answer.

So I guess I should join in, cause all the cool kids are doing it. Suprisingly or not, I'm 15, turning 16 in 5 days...I just moved to MD from NorVA and was born in FLA. I'm more into the arts than academic classes and have no idea what I want to major in. I like most types of music, but am not really in my generation's so called pop. I've gone to alot of really good shows at the club and am really looking foward to seeing brand new with hot rod circuit. should be a good show. so I'm glad this post was entertaining...

OH MY, don't even think about your major -- you're just 16! This is the shit that pisses me off, that 16 year olds think they have to know the full course of their life. Unless you're hellbent on being a doctor and need to start getting pre-med stuff in by Freshman year, play it by ear. As you take classes, your real interests and skills will emerge. Take a nicely rounded slate of classes, and start worrying about a major sophomore year.

Shit!! I'm 43 and still haven't figured out what I want to be when I grow up....leaning towards a vet though because I love animals. That is if I don't make the grade to play for Manchester United of course. ;)

when I grow up, I wanna be older

Redsock dates a hottie from Exit Clov (and is he particularly interested in baseball right now?).
Just wonderin'
I can't stand most people.....I'm getting that on my f*cking tombstone!!
