We should really have a YouTube thread.

Love it.

One of the commentors certainly didn't like it:
"It's a bastardization. The verse lacks the proper nuance and the giant ripping guitar solos are crap, terribly cliche and inappropriate. The entire meaning behind the song is lost. And the fact that he's so full of himself he can't sing the song in its intended, first-person point of view lest it be a reflection of him? Shameful."
Indie-snob perhaps?

but is it as bad as Jamie Cullum's attrocious version of 'High and Dry' ?

Prince covering Radiohead? He could have burped the whole thing adn it would have been awesome.

I agree with DeathfromAbove. This cover is pretty sweet actually. He takes it somewhere different and it sounds really cool. I've always wondered what a radiohead song would've sound like if it were soul :)

I dig Pete Kuzma and Bilal's take on High and Dry that showed up "Exit Music - Songs with Radio Heads"

wonder if someone will point out to the "indie snob" what other song Creep bares a striking resemblence too :D

I've heard better versions on Rock Band.

I never thought I'd have a problem with Prince covering anything. But I don't like this one. Maybe because I never really liked that particular song. I dunno. I just don't think that this tune goes over well with a soulful makeover.

It's totally Prince-i-fide! I really like it and it sounds like he went from Purple Rain into this. I'm fairly sure they're the same key too. Not that Prince couldn't transpose on the fly. Musical Genius.

I bet that really pissed off Portishead.

I bet Portishead was probably halfway back to LAX by the time Prince sang that song.
