Whos all in for the show?? I got floor seats for it but way back on the floor. Hope they have the screens up for it. I had floor seats for Coldplay and thought it would be good but was still a mile away. Luckily they had the screens up for that one.
-
i'll be there.. they do have screens.. i will be 20th row center but thats still too far.. i was 2nd row center for the tour opener in wilkes barre..that was sick...
they hardly use the catwalk unfortunately...its just not their style
here's a video i took which i had to be really careful cause i had two security guys right next to me..

-
Damn thats pretty good quality. Were the spots of no video is that you hiding the camera? haha. I'm going to try and record when they play verizon. As long as others are doing it too I don't think security can say anything to everyone.
-
I will be there... how do you manage to get a camera in in the first place? I assumed they frisk everyone?
-
I was able to get a camera in for coldplay at the verizon center. Is there a no camera policy for this show????
-
of course you can get a camera in and take pictures (without detachable lens)
but you cant sit there in 2nd row center right next to angus and next to two security guards videoing the entire thing and if you just keep the camera up the entire time they know you are filming video..
now for verizon i am 20th row so maybe i can do better.. problem is i don't have more than 5X zoom for video and i'm not going to buy a new camera regardless of how much i love ac dc
-
Do the ticket stubs say no cameras? I have those ticketless tickets so I have no idea.
-
i'll be at the philly show two days after DC (13th row, dead center - wo0t!) and i'll be looking forward to reading y'alls reviews. lemme know how it was :)
-
I'm going to watch Akka Dakka videos of Live Wire (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nFid69vTuI&feature=related) while I finish this beer. Have a good time.
-
Show is tomorrow night. Anyone know if there is an opener?????
-
yeah the opener is a band called THE ANSWER....i think they're from ireland and are supposed to be kinda led zeppy..
show is super sold out. no tickets have been released yet...
i'll be there and hope they are as good as they were two weeks ago at the tour opener in wilkes barre..
-
Great to hear you happen to know how long ACDC plays for?? What time you think show will be over?
-
i think they go on at 8:45..they've added "shoot to thrill" to the set list (thank god) so they will be done about 10:20...
short show unfortunately..
-
Looks like I'm in. w00t!
-
So is there no cameras allowed at all for this show???
-

i dunno, a show that clocks in at over an hour and a half seems decent. sure, it's no 3+ hour jam fest, but at the volume ac/dc pumps out their sound i'm not sure i could take a whole lot more than 90 minutes :p
-
So I'm glad to hear the enthusiasm for this show. I hate arena rock shows in general and I got talked into going... but you guys are making it sound like it's gonna be good.
-
I'm jealous.
-
Samantha, seriously?
regarding cameras this is the info TicketBastard has on its site :(

I love me some AC/DC, hardcore. My bank account apparently doesn't, though.
-
i'm jealous too. another band i may never get to see live
-
Samantha, you've got to bring these issues to the fore a little earlier!
The show was great -- I'm really glad I didn't allow my arena-rock skepticism to keep me away. "Shoot to Thrill" was one of the highlights (and one of my favorite songs anyway). Ended on "For Those About to Rock."
Some exceptionally low res video I took with my phone:

what a show!!!!!!!! absolutely kickass...we had a wonderful time... this is what rock and roll is...
as always i managed to take a little video..wish i'd gotten seats a bit closer but this was a tough ticket
as always i posted something at www.47west63rd.blogspot.com (http://www.47west63rd.blogspot.com)

Yes, it was a great show!!! I hoarded as much videos as I could. Here are some and I'm still uploading.

what do you mean by that??
ugh. I don't have the heart to watch the videos.
-
They are good haha watch! I'm still uploading damn youtube takes forever.
-
Wow, great video! "Big Jack" was great, and of course a huge sing-along. I'm mad at myself for not bringing my camera... nobody searched us and there were flashes going off all over the arena throughout the show.
-
Oh yeah I wasn't even searched at all just went right on in. I was able to get every song just seeing if I can upload all of them now. One of them went over 10 mins and don't know if I can upload that since youtube has a 10 min limit. I think the video came in at 10 mins and one second.
-
can't you just snip one second off the video?
-
I haven't tried to upload it yet but if not I'll see what I can do with it. Still uploading as we speak.
-
Just put up some more vids this morning from the show.
-
So I was driving by the Verizon Center on Saturday night and was wondering what was going on. As we are waiting, stuck in traffic, what do I see? About 20 kids running after an older man and punching him in the face. Hard. Not a cop to be seen.
-
money talks?
i'll be at tonight's show in philadelphia. really, really excited about this one. dammit, still need to be productive for 6 hours.
-
Anyone know how to download in youtube video in the HIGHEST QUALITY possible? I really need to download this one I found of the DC show but the quality just seems a bit less than what I'm watching in YOUTUBE in high quality... not like that much less but still just a bit noticeable... any suggestions much appreciated..

There were cops galore at the Verizon center that night. Wonder how they didn't notice. I would have ran over those guys.

All videos that get uploaded to youtube the quality is diminished from the orginal. I see this with all my videos as they great when I watch them but after uploading they are all pixilated and grainy. Don't know what to tell you but get the orginal copy.

yup, transcoding to a lower resolution is done in order to limit how much data youtube has to broadcast when it serves the content. people upload vids in all sorts of uncompressed, inefficient, etc encodings.

well all i was asking was how to download the vidoes on youtube in AS GOOD quality as they are on youtube when you click to watch in "HIGH QUALITY"..not getting into whether youtube sucks..by the way youtube is a lot better now than it was before as many videos are no watchable in higher quality
of course i'd rather have the original! But i'm not too sure the person who took the video is going to write me back much less give me the vidoes!
anyways, the answer is: if you want the videos in as high quality as youtube at its best then you need to use real player.. i tried keepvid and i tried gearmonkey and in both cases (one in flv format and the other in mp4 format) it was noticeably worse but with realplayer i now have a copy as good (whatever that means and in this case it means a lot as i have video of angus rocking out my woman during let it be rock guitar solo) as whats on youtube..

anyone think it's funny that the band chooses to end its show with "those about to rock"? if you're an hour and a half into an AC/DC show and you're about to rock, methinks something has gone horribly wrong.
only thing that comes to mind: the cannons. when those babies go off, Those About To Rock typically join the ranks of Those Who Have Gone Deaf :p
-
do people about to rock, only buy their music from walmart?

I guess so if they are too stupid to know the band sell it through their website.
-
Finally uploaded all my vids from the show that night. I even got the one that is 10 mins and 1 second up.

Heh, those things were freakin' loud! I thought it was going to be some cheesy effect, not actual explosions with recoil and everything.
As for the kids punching a guy in the face... there were cops everywhere Saturday night, I don't know how that could have gone unnoticed... but I too would've pointed my car straight at them and run over those mofos.

To those who posted clips, thank you! I wish I could've gone to this show, but getting tickets were impossible.
Does anyone know or remember the entire set list? From what I can tell from watching clips, it looks like it was one hell of a good night of songs.
On a final note, I wonder what the chances are of Seth getting AC/DC to headline one of the nights of Virgin Festival. I know, it's silly, but it's nice wishful thinking!
-
Rock N' Roll Train
Hell Ain't a Bad Place To Be
Back In Black
Big Jack
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Thunderstruck
Black Ice
The Jack
Hells Bells
Shoot to Thrill
War Machine
Anything Goes
You Shook Me All Night Long
T.N.T.
Whole Lotta Rosie
Let There Be Rock
Encore:
Highway To Hell
For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)
Pretty much exactly the same set list every night
-
See I didn't know that they're doing a consistent set list for the tour. Regardless, that list is amazing.

i dont think its wishful thinking..i am predicting it...they are coming back- supposedly- for the summer..i expect they will want to do BIG shows...virgin will fit right in...its that or nissan...i think they'd prefer virgin by far... live nation is sponsoring these shows in the US (owners of nissan) but doesn't mean a band like ac dc is locked in
-
I had SO MUCH FUN at this show... We were in the 100 section (section 119), right beside the stage. While the crowd looked like a PTA meeting, they rocked like no PTA I've ever seen. ;) [Okay, I've never been to a PTA meeting, it's just what I imagine...] SO glad the show was on a Saturday so we could savor it all and make a big night out of it.
What do you do for money, honey, how do you get your kicks?!?
-
love the vid for Hells Bells! Actually from what Ive seen theyre all great.
-
Was Thunderstruck awesome y/n?

Glad to hear that my idea isn't silly. I know Seth in the past has said that he doesn't want the festival's headliners to be too lopsided. As in one night are major huge bands and then the next night is something not as huge. With that in mind, I wasn't sure how big of a possibility it was or wasn't to have AC/DC. (Does anyone think it's too early to start a v-fest wishlist thread? haha)
About Nissan Pavilion, I hate that place. I mean it's a nice amphitheater, but getting there sucks so much.
Anyway, regardless where AC/DC plays, I'm glad to hear that they are planning to do a summer tour in the states. A band like them would be much more awesome outdoors than anywhere else. Hell, if they played RFK or something like that I'd go see them there even.

1.00 US$ = 1.52750 AU$
1.00 AU$ = 0.654663 US$
If those rates keep up they might stick around for a while.

saw ac/dc in philadelphia last night, and predictably enough they rawk rawk rawked. what a fun, visceral and somewhat mindless experience. wouldn't want all my concerts to be like that, but an occasional guilty pleasure like last night will always be welcome. our seats were ridiculous: center floor, along the cat-walk. there was quite a bit of freedom of movement up front, i spent the encore in the third row. the crowd was typical for philly - so-so with decent but not incredible energy.
curious was the view was like from up front? here, take a look (http://picasaweb.google.com/sweetcell/ACDCInPhiladelphia). some really good pictures in there, if i do say so myself... although, warning: contains images of a topless aging rocker :p

wow those are hot pictures for sure!
i had second row center for wilkes barre and i was a little overwhelmed..having never seen them, been listening to them for years and they're like my favorite band and all..
so i was a bit catatonic i think..
which is why seeing them at verizon was special (among other reasons)..being a bit further back i got more of a sense of what was going on and of the band...
i do think the dc crowd was awesome and that was surprising to me.. maybe the fact it was ac dc on a saturday night or whatever..
-
Jesus crap, I am severely jealous of all you people with your ace seats. We were definitely up in the nosebleeds.
May I just note that on principle alone, the fact of 20,000 people pumping fists in the air while chanting "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" in unison in the heart of Washington DC is pretty freaking funny. :D
-
never mind see post below.

I often think of how much new bands could learn from going back to AC DC's Chuck Berry rock and roll.. Angus does not stop working when he's out there.. and they really turn it into a rock and roll show full of great rituals and imagery (Schoolboy uniform, inflatable Rosie, giant bell on Hells Bells, beginning of TNT with the oi oi chant, devil horns on HTH etc).. I think of all the newer bands that just kind of expect you to put up your hands and get excited but they do nothing..They have no sense of creating a show..they hardly ever even solo for pete's sake.. at least half of Whole Lotta Rosie is a screaming Angus solo.. AC DC doesn't really ask you to do anything but they give you a reason to...
At the same time watching videos from other shows and having been at two I now realize how heavily choreographed preplanned it is.. Angus has his moves down to perfection (duckwalk, reverse duckwalk, machine gunning crowd, one handed tapping of guitar strings/fret, etc) and he goes through them much like we'd check off a list or something executing them in pretty much the same order..
-
I wasn't going to share this one... but its just too good not to.. here's their performance of Whole Lotta Rosie (my favorite AC DC song) on Saturday at Verizon.. I had two security guards right next to me but about halfway into this song once Angus was into his solo I realized I had to film it...

Hutch, i think the other key thing about AC/DC is that they never take themselves too seriously.
Contrast that with the opening band, The Answer, which played perfect, formulaic metal, but was boring as hell. No sense of humor (unless it was masked by the Northern Irish accent), no showmanship beyond standard metal posturing.
-
Hutch, thanks for sharing such an awesome clip.
And I agree with Doc that a key thing about AC/DC is that they don't take themselves too seriously. I think that's part of their appeal and charm.

what's funny is that last night in philly, from where i was standing (right-center of floor), it clearly looked like the inflatable rosie was, ah, diddling herself. but in your video, it looks like she farted and is trying to air it out/fan it away :)

That's a riot -- I was hoping to find a video of "Whole Lotta Rosie." We were flush right to the stage so couldn't see (her immense boobs were in the way), but did see that her hand/arm was moving, so we had to assume the diddling action was going on. You're right, though, from the angle of the video, looks more like she's airing herself out! ;)
