Poor democrats, sounds like they still haven't gotten over their defeat to Bush. Don't worry, the pain will go away in a little under four years. ;)

Here is what little I can tell you about last nights event... Imagine black lines covering the important bits
.... comes out and thanks everyone for their hard work and this evening is about them.
.... comes and sings two songs. Poor guy only a couple of years of being in the spotlight is already reduced to sing songs from the American Songbook.
.... comes out and sings two songs, she makes very little impact on me.
.... comes out and sings two songs. Poor guy still in High School and already trying to become Harry Connick Jr.
.... comes out and does several songs. Kind of like if Bobby McFerrin was send through the copier.
The headliners,..., come out and it wasn't hard to figure out what the groups hit was as they played two and half times during their hour long set.
There is amongst my set a clue as to what was going on last night, as it happens I planned on playing the track before finding out what the event actually was.
I was asked to spin Top 40/Mainstream funk, How did I do....
p.s. I will be tired/wired and a bit of a motormouth at the Ash show tonight...
-
Were the first three those losers from American Idol? They were on the Fox 5 news yesterday morning.
-
Looking forward to Ash tonite, too.
By the way - is the Back Bar open every night or just on the nights that there is a (public) event? We were thinking of dropping by the BackBar last night but weren't sure if it would be open.
-
well last night it was closed... but i believe it's open for dropins during regular shows. thatguy will correct me if i'm wrong.

LOL, very creative my friend, very creative. ;)

four things:
1. kosmo, if you ever play nelly furtado in the club again, i swear i'm coming up there after you. technical difficulties may ensue. i had successfully eradicated that song from my brain since the last time she played a couple of years ago and stuck it in there.
b. the backbar is not open when there is no show, or during private events. it's not even open to the public every night we have a show. the status of the backbar depends on many factors, but is mostly impacted by the number of tickets sold. if it's a slow night, anyone over 21 can come in. if it's busy, we go into "friends and family" mode. if it's sold out or even just really busy, the backbar is closed to the outside world. the only way to know for sure is to call the club and ask.
III. we were holding rehersals for backup dancers/singers in the lobby last night. they didn't ask for our help. i think it's because we didn't have matching outfits.
D. there are only three things, really.

re: Nelly F. oh come on she's Canadian and of Porteguese descent whats not to like :) can i blame kosmette for that one? and unrequest duly noted...
and YIKES were those tryouts a spectacule

If anyone still wondering, it was
Onstage: An Evening for Music Education
featuring the commodores and take 6, with diana degarmo, justin guarini, and john stevens.
free food and drink.
sponsored by NAMM
-
now that the event has been outed... the lineup was as stated and it was a kickoff party for a day of capitol hill lobbying in the effort to save music education in schools a worthy cause IMHO.
-
LOLOLOL
Before I got to heisindc's post, I thought that it sounded like an education event.
(No further public comment.)
-
what is namm?
-
It's the trade group that represents companies which manufacture and retail musical instruments. They hold trade shows and have a lobbying effort.
-
At least not sponsored by RIAA. They are evil.
-
a sentiment i concur with...
-
PS, Kosmo wasn't kidding, he was all ready to dish about this event. I hadn't realized he was such a big American Idol fan! :p
