i always thought My Bloody Valentine was one of those that just would not under any circumstances get back together (oops)
with everyone and their mother following the pixies' lead, who's going to holdout? (critical band members need to be alive to count in this)
my guess: Neutral Milk Hotel
-
I am happy about this badn not reuniting: The Smiths
also, the original Dead Kennedys and the Rollins Era Black Flag
-
Fugazi

I think that with total certainty Husker Du is done.

they're all still friendly, live in DC (right?), and active with other bands ... i'm sure they'd get together for a "save ft. reno" benefit or something like that

didn't they get together earlier this year for some benefit thing?

Mould/Hart got together for some benefit for one of the guys from Soul Asylum a few years ago. It was only a couple songs and it wasn't a full reunion.
I'm 99.9% sure a real reunion will never happen.

Talking Heads
Guns N Roses

I'll bet this will happen eventually, with Slim on guitar.

I agree on Soundgarden, The Smiths, Husker Du and Talking Heads.
I think Neutral Milk Hotel, Pulp and Fugazi will at some point, though. Especially NMH -- I just have a feeling it was always the plan.
I think Jane's Addiction is done, if anyone cares.
-
And now it looks like the White Stripes are pretty much done as far as touring goes.

The Police

Yes, but there's always the Fiction Plane show at DC9.

Once, filthy lucre comes calling, I think they'll ALL get back together in some form. Which is sad. I mean, let's all look at the next ten years. With downloading, et al are any of these bands going to be making enough money just through record sales and publishing to support their various lifestyles? No one is above getting back together when that much money is at stake. Think of how much money Zeppelin could make. They could charge $100 a ticket and sell out stadiums for an entire year around the globe. Plus the merchandising... Even Morrisey isn't above that.
I think a better question is: "Who will Chris Cornell kiss and make-up with first: The other members of Soundgarden, the other members of Audioslave or his ex-wife?" I think he realizes the "Billie Jean" covers just aren't cutting it.

Right Said Fred is still too sexy to get back together.

A couple of years ago I probably would have agreed with you. They haven't done a Fort Reno benefit or a Callum Robbins benefit and, if you have seen Instrument, they say that if any one member of the band wanted to move onto something else, the group would disband. Now that every one of them is doing something different, I think the "hiatus" charade should be dispelled.

Technically, that would be a Smiths reunion. That's what the whole litigation was about, wether Joyce/Rourke wherever "The Smiths", which they weren't.....and Joyce/Rourke would play with Morrissey this evening, but you'll never see Morrissey get on a stage with Joyce/Rourke.

Thought Husker was this past year, all 3, and they said not again.

perry, david, eric, stephen

Afghan Whigs (Greg, John, Rick and whatever drummer they're friendly with at the moment)...outside of those two new songs released on the retrospective earlier this year, those guys probably won't make a new album and/or tour again.

at the drive-in. and no, the mars volta doesn't count.

Didn't Grant & Bob end up singing song that were basically jabs at one another?

Yep, they played "Hardly Getting Over It" and "Never Talking To You Again." Pretty good support for no reunion.
-
Soundgarden will reunite. What they should do is have the Endfest featuring Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Mudhoney and Tad. Maybe also an Eyes Adrift reunion with Grohl on drums.
-
I would probably trip balls if the Replacements and Husker Du reunited. Just saying...

trip over your own balls, or actually take enough lsd to enjoy the replacements?
