miss p, a tear of joy just rolled down my cheek. I think a little potentially misplaced pride was in there too.

I lost 3 lbs. the week of Thanksgiving. I've lost 16 lbs. since 10/22.

i've gained about 5 since it got chilly out. really, i needed to lose 5 at that point :(
-
My weight hasn't fluctuated more than 3 pounds in either direction in over 15 years.
-
I made it through the Thanksgiving gauntlet +/- 1 lb. Maybe the alcohol sped up my metabolism. As for Miss P, a lil pudge on a girl is cute. :p
-
I tweaked my ankle back in October and only this last week have been able to return to my usual jogging regimen. I tried on a pair of girl's jeans earlier in the week and discovered I wasn't a size 6 anymore. When I got on the scale I realized I had gained 14 pounds so I'm a disgusting fat slob now and can commiserate with anyone's thanksgiving gains.

i'm on the +5 side myself, presently working on it. the gym was much more conveniently located for me in DC, football season started (which means beer), and that weekend in vegas was pure excess.
and for the latecomers to the party: 930clubber's original post that started this thread was the newbie'ish "will the Washington Social Club show sell out in advance". miss p busted him. clubber does get a few points for turning an embarrassing situation into a funny, but it's still embarrassing.

yes, this also means pizza for me

What's +5 lbs underneath a formless parka anyway. I say hibernate in the winter and slim it off in the spring.

What's a "winter"?
-
2004: 184 lbs.
2007: 191 lbs.
I think that trend its not reversing itself...

it's the price one pays to not have to deal with:
a) hurricanes,
b) the CA real estate market,
c) desert isolation, and
d) texans.
a fair trade-off, methinks.

You know by renting you're throwing away good money, right?

That's because you're *renting*. Try buying a place in SF and compare that to buying the equivalent in DC or the DC metro area. It's much worse in CA than it is here in terms of the inflation of property values.

I am aware, but buying short term (less than 4 years) in this market is worse.

That makes sense. The positive way you carry on about your current life, I figured you're there for good.

If it were up to me, I would, but alas, it's not up to me. The hospital match is coming up soon, so my future is subject to a lottery of sorts.

i suggest getting walking pneumonia, where you cough up blood for a week or so. that diet works great. i went from 230 to 204 in two weeks. <img src="http://www.sternfannetwork.com/forum/images/smilies/Animations/puke.gif" alt=" - " />

His illness helped him lose 26 pounds. My eye didn't aid me in any weightloss.
If I could lose 26 pounds just be enduring walking pneumonia, I'd jump all over that.

to avoid joining miss p and sweetcell at the post-holiday jenny craig classes, i'm cutting caloric intake to 700 cals or less for each of two days out of the next three in anticipation of the gorging.

"Oh, I'm sorry, did my pin get in the way of your ass? Do me a favor and lose five pounds immediately or get out of my building like now!"
I plan on losing some of the excess Christmas/New Year's/Pennsylvania Redneck weight by training for this. (http://www.active.com/page/Event_Details.htm?event_id=1510601&assetId=48bb923c-c386-4adb-bee9-02898b47f1c7)
However, there's a real possibility of a Feburary 25th headline:
"Nostalgia-hating Fall Out Boy fan dies of massive heart attack on third floor of Mellon Bank Center."

happy 2008 everyone! i'm joining miss p at the gym!

i asked for a juicer for christmas which facilitates the weight loss when used in accordance with a raw vegan diet. today i've drank:
1 carrot
1 orange
4 tangerines
2 apples
1 beet
half a cucumber
half a honeydew melon
i also had a banana and half an avocado, because hey, i need a little fiber and potassium. i wish i could believe that i'd keep this kind of thing up but after drinking my dinner, i just felt sick.
-
The juicer discards the fiber, which I find to be filling and appetite curbing. One huge apple, found at the Asian markets, keeps me stuffed for hours.
I agree on the nutritional value of your foods; why not just eat them?

My new years resolution of losing weight ended at starbucks this morning.
I just discovered that the DC rec dept. (http://dpr.dc.gov/dpr/frames.asp?doc=http://registration.dpr.dc.gov/RegistrationMain.sdi&dprNav=|32353|) has a few free aerobics and yoga classes. I chose the one that is central to the most bars.

I'm hoping to lose 14 pounds before hitting the beaches of the Cote D'Azur in June. I'm not sure how I'll do it, as I already work out seven days a week. I guess I need to cut down on portion size.

you could go back to school. i managed to lose 5 lbs and i wasn't doing anything different than i normally do...watch my portions and work out regularly. So i chalked it up to the stress of grad school finals :p wasn't really looking to lose weight, but now that i've lost a few lbs, i'm going to see if i can keep losing
-
I dropped like ten pounds and 3 or 4 inches in the waist since college. All-you-eat at the cafeteria lunch and dinner with the soda fountain and high sodium helps pack the pounds.
Miss P should give us an update on her 2008 Jenny Craig program progress.

930clubber: it's lame that you're still trying to take digs at miss p, in revenge for being called out as a newbie. suggestion: grow up.
-
sweetcell,
why don't you help your girlfriend Miss Pretentious by joining Biggest Losers as a couple. you'd look pretty cute on TV in your forum patrol uniform.
-
this women called into the howard stern show today, which could of been a fake call, claiming her child was about to be taken away from her because the poor girl is considered to be very obese and the mother suggested purging as a way to lose weight. how much weight can one actually lose buy eating an almost whole bag of mini snickers bars and then "not so quietly" doing the deed in the shower?
-
if snickers and the like are the foundations of her diet and she purges the whole of her caloric intake then i suppose that would work, if done religiously.
i must say -- those post-holiday sale packs of mini-snickers bars at the store beckon to be consumed.

funny, that's exactly what started your miss p obsession :p

hey dad with the nearly 3000 posts, feel free to protect your girlfriend and patrol any thread you want. some might call the depth of your participation obsessive but you've earned the privilege. you are the institutional memory and caller out of the board. ;)

Oh, you're so cute when you're bitter and angry...
Are you upset that Billy Corgan realized it wasn't 1995 and didn't reclaim his place as arbitrator of all things cool in 2007?
I could have made fun of that picture you posted where it was revealed that you shop at Hollister.

the thread is about weight loss. i am glad to have made it through the holiday gauntlet of drinking and eating about the same as where i started -- on the scale at least, don't know about internal damage. but persian and chinese new years are coming up!
